oh I meant the last of the gen3's.... and even the newer 6l commies. I dont have the gtr anymore, but it used to surprise me even when it was stock, it took something with a fair bit of mods to beat it. I cant see how any of the new crop aussie muscle cars stock would hand it to a stock gtr...not even off a rolling start.
-
I think a lot of people underestimate the top end speed of a gtr, it doesnt die in the arse like a stock wrx (no disrespect intended as I like them for what they are). from a rolling start my 100% standard r33 gtr used to often pull away top end from mildly modded gen3's with over 300kw at the crank such as the gts, so I really cant see how a stock typhoon is going to smash a stock gtr on a roll.....and if it does its not stock. I wont even bother talking about a standing start

in an ideal situation on a good track with a good driver the e55 could run low 12s, realistically mid to highish 12s... this time doesnt seem so unbeleivable, quick but not unrealistic for a gtr running 16lbs, exhaust and quite possibly some sort of management upgrade (as obviously no speed cut). 2.5 carlengths is not much at all maybe 0.2-0.3seconds at those speeds

true., i guess i had a twin plate that was hard to slip off the line

If its a story its a pretty good one...the only thing that doesnt really stick for me is launching a gtr at only 4500-5500 as from my experience it would usually need more than this to not bog down
-
assuming you have a decent clutch I think you will beat your boss. if you give it enough revs you cant really stuff up a launch. about a year ago my old gtr was similarly modded to yours and ide had a couple of goes against a c55 amg and beat him 2 or 3 times from a standing start. your car should be running mid to high 12s easily.

What Performance Times Should I Expect
marchGTR replied to gdogzgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
flat 12's??? you can do that with standard turbos. I would say if your pushing 320-330 rwkw and have a decent clutch you should get mid to low 11's and 0-100 in under 4 seconds. best way to find out is to take it to the strip! -
Immaculate R34 Gtt...melbourne
marchGTR replied to mick34's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
nice looking car! should sell quickly in this condition... if only I had the money -
500hP GTR that won targa??? if that had 500hp then a standard one must have 400? All that GTR had was a motec ecu, bigger muffler, suspension and roll cage... now that demands respect when you consider the calibre of cars and drivers that they beat (lambo's, porkas). I too like the xr6T, but lets not get too carried away, its not even close to the refinement and quality of a GTR 32,33 and especially 34. standard they may not super quick, however slap on an exhaust and PFC and a 300rwkw xr6t would be dreaming to keep up

the vl turbo has/had a nissan engine, thats why there are still so many around. if you love the xrt so much then go and sell 'your gtr' and buy yourself another ford.

just wondering if anyone could give me opinions on these rust photo's of an R32 GTR . I really like the car although Im not too sure whether I should buy it or not (currently in Japan). the car has had a light repair on the rear right panel and the rust present is also in the rear. tip of right frame also has a small dent. Is it something I should stay clear of or is the damage/rust not a major issue. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

i find it hard to believe that it could run 11.7 with 'only' 270rwkw with street tyres. standard gtr's (turbo's) can get this power and could potentially run this time with a 1.6/7 60" with 4wd advantage and 200kg less weight.... go figure?

R32 GT-R questions, and my new car
marchGTR replied to andrewwr32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Andrew, nice car!!! Ive imported a few cars before and I can remember on 2 occassions a similar thing happening to me? the first time i picked up a 97model 180 from the docks (for my girlfriend!) and gave it a bit of stick around a few corners and down the freeway and noticed that the car was holding back, kind of felt like a slipping clutch. anyway it happened again sometime later and never again. 2 years on the car is driving sweet and the clutch has yet to be replaced! I think you probably just gave a bit of a shock to the computer and maybe it just had to readjust itself? probably just talking BS but nothing to worry about i think, Enjoy! -
yes, but everyone has their own opinion. I saw it on here a few weeks ago.. It was a dentists car and looked immaculate...

1) no it wouldnt be practical tow a boat with a skyline, but then again i would use a landcruiser before a holden or ford for any boat over 5.5 metres. 2) yes i get lag, but it can be beneficial if you want to conserve petrol. 3) icant see how having 5 people in a car wont back it feel slower? 4) most jap import dealers offer warranty with their cars. 5) yes there is enough around, and parts generally arent too expensive 6) not sure how big your parnter is, but mine is skinny so she has no trouble fitting in the back! plus we have less windows (more privacy!) also if you have a look in the classified section there was a really nice 2000 model R34 GTR with 40,oookm, silver with some basic mods (PFC, exhaust) going for low 60's.... so nowhere near 100G

R34 GTR V-spec Skyline VS HSV or FPV
marchGTR replied to fLipKnot's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
my 33gtr averaged about 13-14l/100km driving normally in city and maybe about 11/100km in country driving... however if I thrashed it it would be considerably more. my brothers stock r34 gtt averages about 11.5-12L/100km normal driving and not too sure about country driving but would be a bit less. -
200kms out of a tank!!!! thats running terribly rich, or you are bouncing off the limiter around every corner! I was getting 400-420 out of my stock 33 gtr, and when my girlfreind drove it it would be closer to 500? llewah gets more than 200km in his 10000000hp gtr
-
standard you should have 145-155rwkw and with those mods I think 200 is realistically possible. should feel sugnificantly different. I would think that with 2.0-2.1 you should be able to get mid 13's quite consistently?

oh sorry i forgot to consider that HRT holden that won bathurst 24hour

Apexi S-afc 2 - D1 Limited Edition
marchGTR replied to buja's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi mate would you take 300 cash and ill pick it up? thanks -
remove the boost restrictor and retune the stock ecu and not much will come close
-
no factory standard R8 or falcon should come close, especially from standing start!
-
maybe a GTR is not for you as they are not the most reliable of things. obviously you have never owned a gtr?? I thrashed the living bejesus out of my 33 gtr for over a year and a half and never had a problem with it.....previously I owned several gtst's 32 and 33 and they didnt even get close to the gtr for thrill factor... ide say go the gtr, just be careful if you buy one here that you get it checked out properly.

power vs lag???? anyone??
marchGTR replied to full-boost's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
generally speaking I think that a gtr will at least match and quite often be quicker off the line than a similarly modded wrx. personally I have only raced 1 decent sti at the lights, he had a front mount and apparantly he said he had some aftermarket turbo ecu. my car was pretty stock except 1Bar boost so I thought I would get flogged .From a roll we were quite even (I was only marginally quicker), however we had 3 goes off the line and I got him everytime (6500rpm launches), I guess it looked like he had to much lag off the line due to maybe his turbo?, and he then couldnt catch me. anyway I loved my gtr and im still bitter for having to part with it. like ferni said if your looking for response try to buy something with smaller low mounts such as 2530's or gtss's and you will not be disappointed, but remember that the standard turbos are also good for atleast 250rwkw so thats definately nothing to sneeze at.
