I rewired mine with a potentiometer, and then bought a pivot speed metre thing and calibrated it to that, and then hot glue the pot in place, probably is out a little bit, but that what the 10% is for, I'll find out soon enough.

Now i'm on this thread, haha. To me the 3 golden rules of a good car is. * Make it stop * Make it turn * Make it go After applying these three rules I wonder how well Some of the aussie built cars stacks up against the japs. Just a thought. As one of the most respected sport car manufacture in the world PORSCHE achieves legendary status through racing programs with car that are sometime questionable on how "little horsepower" as comparable to the competitors, but where they strike back is in the collosus braking abilities of their cars. Last I look, a mazda 3 out braked every Ford-Holden-HSV. on a mediocre brake system, that's engineered well.

This thread is getting funnier by the day. Last post for me in this thread, so far it. This thread has gone from jap versus FORD xr6t. To discussion and proving the amazement of, how illiterate and moronic some ppls can be. LOL.

How Much Does Your Skyline Cost You A Year?
hungry6 replied to Freeman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
In 2001, my skyline costed me over $18000 for the year. As i had to defend myself on a dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, even though I was having dinner and my car was parked in the carpark. Long story, got thrown out of court in the end, but it still costed me money, and getting compensation from criminal proceeding, is like finding unicorn poo. -
XR6T, your credibilities die in the arse when you open your mouth and claim"out of the box your XR6T will beat a 350z around a track. To reply to your comment, I am sure I have driven and own a few more car than you dare to dream of. My company currently runs a fleet of XR6T "due to resales figure". I have flog the living daylight out of a XR6T at qld raceway, and I have to say, I'm sorry the XR6T is a few seconds behind the 350Z in my hands and at the hands of a ex V8 supercar driver and a few other friends who has business association to our firm. Personally if I were you, I wouldn't even open my mouth in regard to how great the XR6T against other sport car. Because, the moment you open your mouth regarding the obvious facts, you are simply diminishing your argument!!

I can spend $5000 on performance bits on a rex and will hand your arse to you on a platter, LOL. That's the simple facts of life, get over it and stop comming here going on how good a XR6T is. When you can wind 700-800 hp out of the stock XR6T then we'll listen, as the japs motors are doing it for a fairwhile now. Using half of the fuel. When you really look at it, the XR6T may as well as be coal powered in term of relevance to other performance car. If you really want to see the facts in real life just take your (modify 300rwkw + 1000nm 11 second wonder) to a track day and see if you can stay within 2 seconds of a bog stock 350Z, until you can do that then there is no point comparing it to other hypo wheels ie. skyline/wrx/supras/evo

I counted on our company XR6T dash. It's made of 16 different pieces. 16!! WTF This is 2005, not 1972. The way I see it, If a manufacturer isn't capable of making a single piece dash, then they obviously lacks the engineering capabilities to do anything else better. It's time Ford and Holden get their act together or they'll be solely importing ex u.s models in the next 10 years. Back on the subject regarding the OZ. V JAP. I think it's more like when we will or if we can ever catch them. The Europeans are finding out that, they too are trailing the Japanese in automobile manufacturing. Look at toyota/nissan/honda Also the japanese has the highest specific output for diesel, which is an area the aussie car makers don't even look at. Straping on a turbo doesn't cut it as hi-tech manufacturing/ building. If you need to look at hi tech look no further than at an echo motor or a current civic motor. GM and FORD lies restless at night wishing they could build something similar.

My current r33gtst is rb26DET, I did the coversion and engine build by myself. I'm fortunate to have a range of tools and accesories to do it with. Personally if you need to ask, then you simply don't have the experience to do this conversion. Try to budget around $5000 from a shop, as they will run into minor problems that will take hours to track down and 2 seconds to fix. I spent a total 3 months just sorting out parts, also I had to manufacture custom items to make the rb25 box secure to the rear of the rb26. Also there are sensors that needs to be replace or swap over, and the associated pipings as someone already mention. At the end of the day it's a car with a difference, that'll bring smiles and brown undies when you step on it. As for the sump. get a rb30 and mod that, it's easier or go a full custom job like I did. don't root around with the stock rb26 sump, they all leak after being weld shut. Something to do with heat associate problems.

I got my last tune at Gav, and he has seem to iron out the minor fuelling issues, I would go back there with no problems. He comes accross as a genuine decent person with a fair knowledge on skylines, I've found in the past. Performance shop make some rediculous claim and belly flop on delivery. I must have to admit, that I would be one of, if not the pickiest prick on the planet. When it comes to modifying skylines, there isn't much that i haven't touch on, and cost would be the last consideration if you are getting things done. The last thing you want to see is that, you might save a few hundred dollars now and have to pull the motor out in 3 months times, and then it hard to make any shop be accountable for their works by then. One rule of thumb, there is NO waranty on and performance mods from any shop disregard what they shovel at you.

I've founded out in cars that I own, not to use SS as it produce more noise in the higher frequency range, and titanium exhaust goes higher. So just the plain old mild steel produces a decent exhaust note with out the associated reverberations of thin metals. I'm currently running a 3.5 to 4 inch exhaust, yes, it weird but It isn't that loud until I really guns it, and then you can point me out from 2 suburbs away, but the things is at idle it's really quiet.

I don't find the Ford that attractive although clean, Ford have been engaging in reverse engineering for a little while now, but still achieves good results. As for HSV/Holden, the car looks nice initially but then fails to deliver. On engineering refinement, ford and holden has along way to go and they still haven't address the weight issues, or have anything in the pipeline to do so. Where as the japanese are daylights ahead. As for ease of modification, and availabilty of parts. I would like to see you source a s/c for an ls1 in nagasaki, but u can easily get a turbo(s) for most jap model world wide. To me the world car manufacturing reach a cross road about 12 years ago, and the Australian manufacturer went down one path, and the rest of the world went down another.

I've always used stock ones. No problems on 3 different engines, but then I never tried tomei one, so I have no ideas what I'm missing out also. The power levels of the 3 engines varied from 420 to approx 600 rwhp. Just from past experience, it take alot of R&D to beat a manufacturer for reliability and consistantcy.

BRIDE Seats now Available
hungry6 replied to Troy@Pro Speed Racing 's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
With the Gias can you get rails for an f430 ferrari? and also the carbon/kev finish on the back of the seat is polished? -
I got mine made custom. for a little sum of money out of alloy, for twin 80mm afm. I'll know in about a week if I'm going to persist with the current set up, as I have max out the afm as in another thread, might go autronic after all the rooting around. If you are interested I will post up or send pic.

Ahh , ok from the figures some of the members quoted, then I'm bang on the mark then. Thanks for everyone post.

I don't mind Audis, it's the understate looks that I prefers and they give you a pretty long leash in regards to modification, possibly the only manufacturer that I know of. But for and out there car an F430 got my money, I drove one of these at prior to the Australian release day on the coast, all I can say is where do i sign up. Nothing that I've own or driven in the past even remote comes close. Also my pet hate would be the Pagani Zonda, Saw one in real life and for the money they're asking is ridiculous. It's basically a kit car made in Italy with a german heart, and not a good one at that. Also no heritage .

I wonder why mine are maxing out so early then, Or is it that the individual tuner estimate fuel curve beyond the resolution of the AFM, that produces some of these higher power figures.
-
Worst still is that when you have your head buried in the engine bay and you mate cruises up quitely and toot the horn, It's not really funny when you got 3rd degree burns on your hands from it. So what pred. said is understandable.
-
As I pm Akkii, belgarion, I had the same prob, and I got quoted $900 for one from nissan, so I decide to pull the sucker apart, in the end it was the relay in the door itself and not the switch, just have to pull the whole door trim of and there would be some homely corrosion waiting for you.
-
It's gone 5 volts, there is no other probs, it just seems they don't support as much as alot of ppls claim or the dyno is out by a fair whack.
-
Does anyone know how many HP one of these are supposely support? I've seem to run out of voltage range, and is there any aftermaket company who sell a higher resolution one?
