Sorry didn't see your post, reply notifications are a bit dicky on these forums. The cheap epay cable was wired incorrectly to the plug, did not bother trying to fix it just bought a PLMS USB Consult Cable and it all worked like it should.

Roughen up the pads wit 80 grit and the discs with 240 and learn to live with the squeal, over time as the pad wears down don't be surprised if the squeal disappears.

silicone base is suitable too, probably optimal, silicone with PTFE or hex Boron Nitride if you want the fancy stuff. -
