My 22yo R32 (stock) is still on its original coil packs, so when I do eventually need to replace them I think I will just go Nissan OEM.

Check your local Nissan dealer for a price, but you can get them for about $105 each from here....

Unless someone else on the boards can give you a procedure on how to check continuity between ignition and the starter, you may have to take it to the auto electrician. I would be looking at the connection on the starter first though.
Is the solenoid in the starter motor clicking when you turn the key?
My old XY falcon would do that when hot. The insulation on the copper wire inside the the starter motor had perished, so when it was hot the copper expanded and shorted out.
Pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it for short while, so the lines are not pressurized when you undo the clamps, also it pays to have a spare length of fuel hose handy, its easy to damage it when removing.

I must have got my wires crossed again?
Have you weighed your car?
I drove mine down to the local council refuse tip, and weighed it on both weighbridges to get and average. It urns out a stock auto R32 GTST with a full tank of gas weighs 1385KG. A tad more than the 1280kg quoted in the Skyline book. Obviously you need to know your own weight and subtract it from the reading on the weighbridge.
