None around to turn the key for me
-
If it helps here are some voltage readings I took from the battery terminals earlier today... R32 gtst auto resting volts = 12.91 idle volts = 14.15 idle + headlights on = 14.03 idle + high beam on = 13.98 I went for 300km drive on Wednesday so the battery should have been well charged. Cheers Mike.

"play" In The Driveline
Missileman replied to s13-steve's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
2-300 would be ok, but around $400 or above, I might have to research about doing it myself. -

Do report back what they did to fix it and the cost, I have a similar issue with my R32 gtst. Mike. -

and your location is... -
Thanks for the guidance, I'll leave it at that until I upgrade to 3" turbo back system. Mike.

Yeah yeah... Go hard or go home! That's the problem I've only got an old SAAS boost gauge that I'm not too confident in, so it's little increments for the time being. it's up to about 12psi now and have noticed a slight increase in power nothing earth shattering but that's to be expected on the stock original exhaust and only a 2 psi increase. The boost is all in 3250 rpm but seems to creep back down to 10 psi by red line? Will try one more turn tomorrow, hope to reach 700 torr Mike.

Well that was a royal pita to install. The two barbs on the controller are a little too close together, so getting on both pieces of vacuum hose with clamps is not an easy task, couple that with the awkward position of the bleed nipple on the compressor and a cramped engine bay, sure makes a simple task frustrating to say the least. I left it wound out so it should be producing stock boost for now, I want to feel how much of an effect it has on the lower part of the rev range, and to make sure the installation is reliable before I start winding up the boost.

I was hoping the mailman might bring mine today, my xmas gift to myself I'll end up doing more mods next year, though I'm probably going to upgrade the suspension first before I worry too much about turbos, IC's and exhausts, though a Nistune is one of the firt items on the list as well as a fuel pump.

OK so the ECU will cope well, but the turbo is still a roll of the dice proposition, if its in good condition then 14psi should be achievable for every day driving. Thanks Mike.

So if I bought one of these nifty little devises for my stock R32 GTS-t how much boost should I aim for? I'm not trying to see how much I can squeeze out of the stock turbo, more trying to understand how fare I can go before the ECU maxes out the timing and mixture. Even if I have to go for a mild over boost of 11-12psi it should still bring the boost up to pressure earlier no? mike.

Just finished swapping out the low pressure line this minute, so whats the difference between Repco $28 EFI and Bursons $12 EFI line? Gates v Goss
-
I'll give Bursons a call tomorrow.

Very true, I did a little research on the line I bought and it seems to have a working pressure of 50 psi, might try and source some 150 psi stuff. I don't want to start any fires in my engine bay, or anywhere else for that matter. Mike.

To be honest I don't know, but the line I had to cut off looked to be original and of the same spec as the cheaper line I bought. Would be good if someone in the know can confirm.

Got the filter from Nissan Coopers Plains for $33 though they tried to charge me $39 apparently the price changes from when you ring for availability to when drive there to get it. Also the Repco man tried to talk me into $28 per meter high pressure line, though I walked out with the standard 5/16th, stuff for $6. Mike.

Sorry to dig up this old thread but didn't think it worthwhile starting a new one with the same topic. Would someone be able to tell what size fuel hose to buy, I'm about to change my filter and want some spare fuel line on hand in case the original stuff is damaged when I remove the old one, probaly a good idea to have a couple of new clamps too. Regards Mike.

$40 from ebay , I guess SAU members receive NIL discount from Turbotech anymore http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/220776081852?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

The car is my new daily drive and it has an auto transmission so it's likely to never see a race track, a nice brisk run up mountain road is another story. At $36 including a free oil filter and being produced by Penrite convinced me to give it a try, if I can find the $60 full synthetic without having to travel too fare out of my way then I'll give it a go next change.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Missileman replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
New Skyline owner here, would appreciate some advice for my first spend on tyres, have a stock R32, I've only recently purchased the vehicle so my budget is very modest, is there a decent cheap tyre with good tread wear and is OK in the wet? And what are some to avoid. Would like 205 55 16 Regards Mike. -
Couldn't find a spec sheet at the Repco site, so the only information available is what is written on the package...

Na thats gone too, the jack and the space saver are the only things in the boot. -
New Skyline owner here, stock 1990 GTS-t Just did an oil and filter change, it needed it badly, was starting to make lifter noise and the old oil was quite black. Went into Repco to check what they had, and came out with 5L of their own brand (blended by Penrite) semi synthetic 10-40W, a filter and a bottle of Nulon engine oil flush, all for pricely sum of $49. Put half the Nulon in at the car park and drove it 4km gently home, then put the remainder in and idled for 10 mins. Drained for 30 mins screwed in the new filter and refiled with the Repco oil. No more lifter noise, idle is smooth as and free revving, engine only has 60 000 on it and still seem nice and tight, oil pressure at idle is just above 2 and just under 4 when revved, oil consumption is next to zero. Any opinions on Repco Semi Synth 10-40? Since this motor is quite fresh should I be looking some 5-30 for my next change, or should I stick to the 10-40 since I live Qld. Cheers Mike.
