    Neons

I've recently been involved in a yellow sticker incident involving neons, so I can quote first hand what is and isn't allowed. The law according to a Dept of Transport vehicle inspector: Neons are legal under the following conditions, You must not be able to see the elements from a seated position in an ajacent vehicle, neons are not allowed to pulse or flash, you must not have a red neon facing forward, all other colors are acceptable, all colors including red are acceptable for the sides and rear, they must be adequatly secured and the elements shielded to avoid exposure to other drivers. You can drive around with them on. The law according to some cops: Yellow sticker every vehicle with neons as they are deemed a distraction to other drivers, you can't have them on whilst driving but static in a carpark is OK. My personal suggestion is put em on the correct way, use them and know the law and your rights if you get pulled over, just remember though it could cause the cops to look for other defects on your car so keep it neat and legal.
  4. Well Lordy Ma Kettle, run to the hills, lets all drive style bland Toyota Camrys (joke). You're right, but it's about personal freedom that's within the confines of the law and according to an inspector I've just spoken too about the neons he has given me another interpretation of what's the law on them. But yet again the poor old driver who dares to different and drive a modded car is subject to system bashing him down until he gives in and conforms with the masses. Yahhda, Yahhda.
  5. Your right, I read the minutes from the Rollaboyz meeting where the Dept of Transport stated that neons were a go'er providing that the actual elements were not visible. The cop on Frid' night said the only place you could use them was in a carpark and you had to be stationary. The issues we have are that there is no consistency with cops, vehicle regs for mods and yellow stickers. Basically if they don't like what they see they can slam you with a sticker for what ever lame excuse they want and your the poor *** that's got to get it off.
  6. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I got busted on Friday night in Freo with the neons on. Even though I paid particular attention to fit them right the cops said they could see the elements breifly when I went down a fairly steep road so I got done. They also said that they have been told to yellow sticker every car with neons on whilst driving as they are deemed to be a distraction to other drivers (What THE !!!!) . I'm going to buy a copy of the Road Regulations Act to verify if their right or wrong but I spose stiff Shite as I've now got a yellow sticker to remove.
  7. I've read all the articles possible on the subject of oxy sensors including fitting a ford unit, but I thought I'd do some updated research. By the way this is only applicable to R33 GTS-T series 1 and probably series 2. Genuine sensor, Part number 22690 83 T13 Price: $198.95 retail (inc GST) $153.00 trade(inc GST) Available in Perth at the moment from Northside Nissan, Wanneroo (1 in stock) Can be ordered ex East from any other Nissan dealer. I'm investigating using the next best alternative a Commodore (ugh) VL Turbo unit Genuine sensor, $165.12 (inc GST) ex Coventrys Non genuine sensor, $127.94 (inc GST) Part number OX206, ex Coventrys I'm going to buy the OX206 this week and give it a try, I'll post results on the fitment and hopefully (PRAY TO GOD ALMIGHTY) fuel economy improvement. If it works OK we can bulk buy from Coventrys for $80.10 ea plus GST " To the Skyline Robin"
  8. Well the age group is broader than I thought. It's actually surprised me given the cost of running one of beasts with insurance, price of after-market parts and fuel economy but I suppose if you love the marque then you're prepared to pay the price. (sorry for going a little OT). Regards, Batman "To the Skyline Robin"
  9. Thanks guys for the response. I've thought of coming on a couple of cruises so I guess now I'll have to join in one. By the way great site, very informative, I've learn't more about my car of this site than anywhere else. Great bunch of people!!!
  10. Hey, guys anyone know what the average age of members is. I've just joined up and most people seem to be fairly young (sub 30). Not that I've got a problem with that, just wondering how many 30+ members are there in Perth.
