  1. It's ok to spend money on women, just make sure its your wife, and not the girlfriend hahahaa
  2. Obviously drivetrain loss is not linear through the power range. We all use a rough % to calculate it, but as far as I am aware the loss % reduces as you add more power into the equation - up to a certain point, and it also depends on a massive number of things in the equation (eg, transmission, clutches, thermal, mechanical limits, etc)
  3. Amazing.. I've been in this game long enough to know that Mercury doesn't have the best reputation around town, so good to know they might have actually done something right. My mate's Evo X that Mercury "tried to tune" (went there brand new totally stock with 2000kms on the clock) is still having issues, and Mercury pretty much washed their hands having no idea how to fix all the CEL's that kept popping up, as well as the fact it runs pig rich, and has boost spike from here to Mars. I just figure if they can't tune a $70k car, I wouldnt let them touch my GT-R with a 40' pole.. Anyways GL with it all.
  4. I've only had mine for 7 months. I have to admit I have never tracked mine, but when the tyres are close to replacement (in 8-9,000kms) it will be out there doing laps... Sure, it probably does serve way too much garage time getting babied and drooled at, but thats ok by me. I get it out on the weekends (as it's not my daily), throw my kid in the back, and hit the hills giving my misses a decent break from dealing with the "kids mess" throughout the week.. And yeah, you're right, I probably have way more $$ than sense. But thats ok by me, I'd rather work hard and spend my spare $$ on cars, rather than hitting the pubs n clubs every friday/saturday night and blowing a wad of it all down the piss trough. So.. Choose your poison. For me its my GT-R (..oh, and my Lotus Exige S + Subaru STi Spec R) and to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way..
  5. And now the trolls come waltzing in.. Long live the R31 - in a museum.. LOL.. Hmmm, the R31 interior is no better than a same year Mazda 323 as well as being more a dinosaur than Godzilla. Pity this thread has gone way off topic.... My 2cents - every car has issues, but I wouldn't trade my 2010 GT-R for anything on this planet, especially any of those overpriced euros....
  6. Don't ask the Aus DBA boys, you gotta go DBAusa.com to get the good stuff. They make them already, this is direct from their USA website.. Mind you these fit up to Feb 2011 build cars.. 7. According to DOTARS, Nissan GT-R's with build dates up to Dec 2008 can be imported for street use.
  8. Indeed it is. I only do 4,000kms a year, nothing but the best treatment for my baby Unfortunately I plan to keep this one for at least 5 years
  9. Of course Nissan recommends you follow their break-in proceedure, but no harm in a little spirited driving as well. Probably the only thing I didn't do during the first 2000kms was launch it.
  10. I wouldn't worry about forking out $$$$$$ for rotors. When mine are done and dusted, I'll be going with DBA 5000's. Guys on NAGTROC have said nothing but positives, I've used DBA's on my Subaru STi's for track and daily work with no issues what so ever. http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?/topic/66648-dba-5000-series-rotor-ring-set/
  11. HAHAHAH, still needs moar downforce lol
  12. I've just done 2000kms on mine, seems to rattle just the same as when I bought it with 43kms on the clock.. These cars are run in on the track @ Nissan before they're exported.. you do realise that don't you
  13. HAHAHAHAHAHAH! So did the duckbill trunk to get away from having a spoiler, then added a spoiler... nar... pass +1 ^ what domino said.
  14. Can you PM me details of the tracker? I'm very interested!
  15. Good find!! Need to find out more!
  16. Sorry, what I meant to say, is that my brand new 2010 GTR came with the R2's. Interesting that the R2's are supplied on the V-Spec, makes me wonder if my GTR did some track time between 0-43kms on the clock, and they swapped out the tyres for newies before delivery.
  17. Interesting.. The Bridgies on my 2010 are R2's..... Bought new last Dec Thanks for the info! I won't be needing any tyres for about 8000kms, but good to know they're not a bad tyre.
  18. How are these different to the RE070 R2's??
  19. I have a litterally brand new black + gunmetal silver original GT-R shifter off my 7month old 2010. Has one very very minor fine scratch (thanks to the delivery guys) about 1.5mm long on the end of the push button (hardly noticeable). Its in perfect condition and only seen about 100kms before I swapped it out for the JDM Black edition (black/red) from Japan Parts. Has been sitting in my cupboard since before last Xmas.. Selling $100 ex postage from Manly, Brisbane, if anyone wants it. Would be a great refresh for anyone who needs one. Fits 2009-2012 models, and includes the clip pin, etc.. Will post up pics tonight when I get home from work.
  20. ... leads me to believe getting the '10 (if you can afford the extra coin) is well worth it. I've noticed other things that Nissan have changed in my '10 and are different to my mates '09. Things like the interior fitment being a bit off in the '09, some plastics have changed for better quality ones such as the the black strips either side of the front windscreen which had a tendency to discolour, the plastic painted roof covers above the doors have extra securing clips (the '09s had issues with these breaking off if bumped during a wash.), '09s had a tendency to melt the reversing light (not sure why but there's quite a few in the US with this problem), and a host of other little niggles, bits n bobs.... Not saying the 10 is 100% perfect, but it just seems as though Nissan ironed a few things out along the way, making the 10 a better purchase than an 09. The MFD in the 10 is essentially the same as whats used in the 12 which is a plus.. Forgot to mention that I'm biased towards my 10, so.... just saying
  21. I remember seeing somewhere that to swap the '10 MFD into the '09 is almost impossible. Someone on NAGTROC did it but cost them $6k all up, and then the Nav didn't work... doh.
  22. The '10 is a bit more refined mechanically compared to the '09, plus the MFD has a better screen and USB port for iPod or USB stick playback. Frequency of '10s having bell housing issues is also reduced, plus you're getting a slightly newer car From www.gtr2009.com 2011 Changes - Other changes include slightly darker wheel center caps, double clear coat on the front and rear fascias and the addition of rear cooling ducts to improve cooling performance around the rear floor area. The suspension has been retuned and the rear bushing strengthened to enhance ride comfort while still maintaining the GT-R’s outstanding handling. In addition, auto on/off headlights and speed-sensitive windshield wipers are now standard, along with a USB iPod® interface, DVD playback. Only a Premium model was available for 2011. Launch control was updated to call LC3.
  23. http://www.2009gtr.c...-2009-2011.html Just remember the US MY build is a year ahead of the actual build date. eg. a 2009 GTR is a USDM 2010 I recently bought a new Oct build 2010 GT-R premium in Super Silver. Before the purchase, I had originally looked at 2009 GT-R's with 6-10k kms on the clock, but the low quality MFD screen did my head in, as well as the 2009 being a $110k 2nd hand car without an ipod connector. I also looked at the 2011 because I really wanted blue, but the extra 50k on top of what I paid in the end for my 2010 wasn't justified for a little extra power, and a few chassis changes... So I settled on the 2010, knowing I could spend that $50k that I saved on a 2011, in mods and other stuff down the line In the end, it all depends on what you want to do with the car. I really wanted a GT-R with 3 year warranty, but not the big $$$ of the 2011 (at the time), and the one I found ticked all the boxes. If you're planning to mod though, maybe the 2009 is the way to go. Get it cheap, then spend the savings on a tranny build, exhaust, intakes and a cobb.
  24. I know there are rumours floating about that Nissan is considering extended warranties for the GT-R, but does anyone know the status of this?
