HAHAHAHA! so true!

Hey mate, no problems, I'll PM you for the next run. Great bunch of guys and gals (last meet was Sirromet Winery) and there are 2 GTRs in the club (inc mine) so more the merrier
-
Hey mate, welcome to the club. I don't often join in with the other skyline runs, but I do attend Brisbane Super Car Club runs on occasion. Would be good to catch up with you and mike some time

For under $6500 there are plenty of aftermarket replacement options for the GTR - as you said, Alcons are popular, DBS are cheap, so long as they're slotted not drilled if you're going to hit the track often.. I think replacement depends on the dealer, and kms, my GTR has only 4500kms on the clock, and not driven often - and pads + rotors had >95% left, so they replaced them under warranty. I just happened to be on a Nissan organised track day when my last set of fronts went, so that also helped.
-
Indeed I've had the same issue on my 2010, mind you Nissan replaced mine under warranty and said that they will continue to replace them until the warranty runs out in 2014 lol

Its all relative to how hard you work.. I owned (yes, no loan) my first Subaru STi in 2001 (bug eye) at 23 after working in engineering in Mt Isa Mines for 3 years.. I did nothing but save $$$ and came back to Brisbane, walked into City Subaru, said to the sales rep "I'll take that one" and had the car delivered 3 days later Also had enough for a house deposit and bought my first house at the same time.... These days, most Gen Y's find it hard to save because its all about the "now" or, "I want it now", and "instant gratification" mentality.. If the GTR R35 was around back then, I would have paid cash for one and driven away no more to pay - but it wasnt and the Scooby Doo was the next best thing I'm pretty proud of those that can get the things they want at an early age - providing they worked for it.. Using mummy's and daddy's $$ to get a GTR is something I'm firmly against as it teaches one nothing about working hard and respect. Mike, I might consider joining you for a run some time. Keep in touch

Simply put, starting Jan 1, 2009 the ADM's arrived... Anything pre Dec 31, 2008 can be imported, but I understand they have a kms limit (or have to be new). Thinking outside the box though, you could go live in Japan and own a GTR for 12 months then import it under the personal vehicle importation rules... This way it doesn't matter what year or kms it has, just so long as you've owned it for 12 months in a foreign country.

Cant wait. Will be awesome to be able to navigate through all the changes to the Gateway Arterial road nth of the Brisbane River

I've never personally dealt with the MM guys, but my mates Evo X was done by John in 2010 when he were there. When we dropped off the car for the "fix it" resolution, Trent had no end of trouble blabbering on about how bad John was (true or not) and then proceeded to make the Evo X worse LOL... So, aside from the fact I've been in this game for a while and never heard of Next Up Performance (no website either according to Google), I think maybe with a cheap car like an S15 or something like that, I'd probably give them a go - but no way in h3ll would I let them touch my R35. Any serious aftermarket work I get done will be by Willall Racing, I know the owner personally and not fussed paying the interstate freight to get my car to/from them in SA - because I know I can sleep at night with 100% guarantee the work will be done right...
-
yeah, nah.... I'm sorry but as much as you recommend NextUp I wouldn't touch a company that employed anyone from MM. Those 2 ex-employees couldnt work out my mate's Evo X Cel issues from the start, and then Trent made it worse... Dumb and then dumber as far as I'm concerned..

Wrong forum?

I emailed Mark @ Moorooka Nissan earlier this week - he came back today advising Nissan Australia corporate have indicated the Ext Warranty is still not available for the GTR. Dang it..!
-
This is not the first time I've heard similar comments on MM. My mate with his Evo X that had CEL issues after being tuned there, ended up going back for Trent to rectify, now the Evo drops into Limp mode every time he puts the foot down... I just dunno, I think the negative comments outweigh the positive, so its a BIG risk IMO.

I think if I was in Sydney I'd probably help out. Have used my GTR in 2 weddings up here in QLD already - but they were close friends...

I'll be enquiring in May at the next service, will let you boys know
-
Makes you wonder though, still hasn't sold....... Maybe closer to 90k?.. I'm thinking the 3 biggest let downs of the 2009 (right now) for me is the MFD screen resolution, and the lack of an iPod compatible USB port. Then there is the 3 year warranty which would also affect its resale - this one's would be neg. Still its a genuine clean sample of the mighty GTR

A mate of mine with a 2012 has the exact same map version as my 2010... so.. All the ADM's have the same maps - I would even bet the 2013 as well. The last time that I asked my dealer which was September last year, the response was: Hi Ward, Regarding the Navteq maps, I have forwarded your request through to Nissan Customer Assistance as I have no current information available at present. At last enquiry NMC were trying to put a package together with there suppliers. Regards, ______________________________________ Mark Pearce Service Advisor

They don't even make Satnav map updates for the GTR since 2010, so there's no chance of this ever happening +1 to Domino, grab a Cobb AP but kiss your Warranty good buy the moment you flash anything
-
From recollection the RRP for the 2010's was $159,800 (ref. redbook.com.au) - not sure if this was Drive Away and whether it excluded stamp duty and dealer delivery. Out of interest the MSRP for the 2012 is $170,800 (ref. redbook.com.au).. Checked the build plate again, Dec 2010. Definitely not a 2011 as its lacking the DRL's
-
The Red 09 with 5200kms for 99k is a great buy! I reckon this could be had for $90-95k with some good negotiation
-
You're absolutely right, but again it depends on your strategy. I waited for my Dec build 2010 to come down in price to a price point that I was willing to pay. I think anyone who buys the latest model the moment it arrives on shore either has too much money or no sense what so ever. Out of interest, I paid $138k with on roads and delivery (new) in Dec 2011 - of course the car was sitting in a showroom for 12 months and was subject to some very very minor wear n tear (minor scratching that was removed at the time it was Opti Coated) and to be honest I agree $138k is still too much to pay in comparison to the US and Japan, but the price I paid was much better than the original RRP of $189k for a current model 2011 at the same time..
