  1. All models of the GTR are prone to transmission issues. The bellhousing issue is present in the 2007-2012 models AFAIK.
  2. $12k. The main cost is the 2 days x 2 technicians in labour. I picked up the GTR this morning at 9 after a lengthy diagnosis and Moorooka Nissan receiving confirmation from Japan that the Warranty replacement is required and approved. Has been booked in for a new bellhousing in 2 weeks... Lucky for me the GTR isn't a daily, I was almost committing suicide having to drive the base model Dualis courtesy car around waiting for Nissan to give me the all clear to collect..! What saddened me a little though, was another totally stock super silver 09 GTR sitting silently in the corner with rear wheels on casters and a fully locked up rear diff which had been delivered to Moorooka yesterday afternoon... The tech mentioned the issue with it has Japan stumped, as well as it being out of warranty......
  3. So, Nissan just called again. Still doing diagnosis on it. They need it another day!!?? I would have thought its either broken or its not... what is there to diagnose?
  4. How long did it take Nissan to get the parts in mate? It was funny talking to the tech when I was chasing a pick-up time yesterday. He kinda sounded embarrased that they found the issue and that the bellhousing had to be replaced.. Certainly have gained some trust with Moorooka Nissan in Bris. They seem to know what they're doing. I was also glad they decided to keep the GTR in over night in order to follow the "Nissan Diagnosis and reporting Flow chart" in order to minimise the order/replacement time.
  5. On the downshifting when warm - from say 4th to 1st as you come into a stop, there is a massive rattle as the transmission releases to coast. The actual rattle while stationary in P & N isnt that bad (IMO hasn't changed since new with 43kms on the clock and isnt as bad as some youtube vids I've seen), but Nissan said the play in the shaft exceeds 10mm, and therefore requires replacement. Nissan also indicated late yesterday that the parts will be from the 2013 car. I don't know how long it will take Nissan to get the parts in and do the work, but I hope it's before xmas!
  6. I enquired about the National Warranty plan C directly with NW, but the problem I faced was they said that only dealers can sell the warranty plans...
  7. Nissan have kept my GTR in over night. Tomorrow they have to start the serial no trail on current parts, and order replacements. I asked if I could have the defect parts, Nissan responded by saying all of them will be shipped back to Japan for inspection....
  8. Hahaha, yeah, well following the servicing handbook, I have to do the 12 month mandatory service or the warranty = void. Just so happens to be the 20,000kms one at the same time. I tend to do about 4000kms every 12 months, so my GTR is babied. Mind you, the first set of Bridgestones are almost bald, so its spirited driving lol Good to know launching it doesnt cause the issue. I assume the car is still ok to drive until the parts arrive to repair it? Mark @ Moorooka Nissan said the Bellhousing is no longer an engine out affair, but the subframe has to be dropped. Sounds like they know what they're doing.
  9. Well, seems my garage queen GTR with only 3500kms on the clock (and never been launched) has the dreaded Bellhousing issue. My GTR was in for the 20,000kms 12 month mandatory service today, and the Nissan tech reported there was >1cm play in the tailshaft. Means new 2013 bellhousing, shaft, flywheel and bearing replacement will be installed under warranty (thank god). Nissan are ordering the parts today, so should be in stock in a few weeks. Nissan have said I can drive the car, but my question is how hard? While I don't launch the car, is it still ok for spirited drives like mountain climbs, etc?
  10. Good to know the 3-4 weeks is normal from East to West coasts. No doubt they take their time, as well as the train transport from WA to Melb isn't a daily thing from what I know. 12 month, 20,000kms manditory service on mine today. Supposed to be about $800 (eeek) all up inc materials.
  11. When Magic organised my GTR to Brisbane, it was transported like this: 1. Dealer to Perth CEVA dispatch (tray back truck) 2. CEVA Perth to Melb - Container (train) 3. Melb to CEVA Bris - Container (train) 4. CEVA to me in Bris (tray back truck) There was no damage during transport - unless of course it was repaired before arrial to my door step - but from what I know, transport companies do not repair anything themselves before hand-over if damage was incurred during transport. Also, the 6 pak Super Silver paint is an absolute b1tch to fix if there was any damage and there's only 2 qualified paint shops in Brisbane able to fix it. Delivery from WA to QLD took about 3 weeks. I admit I was suspicious that something had happened to the car (I felt like 3 weeks was too long?), so I spoke to both paint shops on the day of delivery and they confirmed my GTR had not passed through. I agree it's a lottery for sure. I was worried as fcuk that something might have happened during the trip. I guess the only way to guarantee is to fly over and drive it back with a car bra on it.
  12. HAHAHA - this is exactly the same timing as mine last year Mine arrived to me in Bris on the Dec 5th
  13. Indeed I work for Caltex in projects (as a Civil Structural Project Manager) at the Lytton Refinery. Caltex certainly has a grad program (there's information on the Caltex au website), where are you located? I'm not sure if you're aware that Caltex Kurnell refinery will be closing in 2014 so I'd suggest if you're south of the QLD border, don't waste your time.
  14. Damn, I was watching that 2011 drop in price too CEVA was very good, although Magic footed the bill for the transport in my deal (I negotiated hard!) Make sure, which ever company you use for transport, to ask Magic to put seat, floor, gear shifter and steering wheel protectors on the car (the same gear they use during servicing) prior to transport, so you don't get sweaty mover guy smells in the car. They did that with mine, got to the other side in one piece. I think if I had my way again though, I would have asked that the front seats be cling wrapped. The material covers were barely covering the seats when mine arrived. Thank goodness there were no issues. I had only one fine paint scratch on the passenger side above the door that polished out no probs, make sure you give it a throrough checking over (before you start the drooling process) when it arrives at your door.
  15. 2011's came with the reverse cam installed (from memory). Is this the 2011 blue from Magic Nissan? Magic are a good bunch, I bought my new 2010 Super Silver from them Nov 2011 for not a lot . Magic shipped mine via CEVA and it got to me in Brisbane without any issues. Did they mention who is underwriting the warranty. Alianz covers the standard manufacturer warranty, but do not provide any extensions.
  16. False economy more like it. 60ltrs of e85 won't go the distance of 60ltrs of 98 PULP - ends up the same $ / km in the end, but you spend more time at the bowser than 98 PULP ...
  17. Well blow me down, http://www.unitedpet....com.au/ethanol (sourced from DBRL Bio-refinery Ltd in Dalby, QLD) Good to see us QLD'ers are good for something So the e85 is sorghum based (cereal grains + sugar cane). Maybe the problems are stemming from the e85 cleaning out any residue in the fuel tank from previously using 98 RON and clogging fuel filters. Who knows. Either way there shouldn't be any concern about fouling from e85 by DBRL - they use current tech refining methods to create e85. I'll go have a chat with the chem lab today to get their spin.
  18. So, then whats all the complaints about fouling injectors?????????
  19. Not quite, you're half way there, and yes it is a form of bio-fuel (as is all nature based fuels including bio-diesels), and depending on the season we use Butane and other stimulators to boost the ethanol rating to ensure E85 is maintained. FYi, both BP and Caltex do the same for 98 PULP. I'm not familiar with what United is supplying, but its certainly fully imported - and therefore you take a major risk as to the quality controls put in place by the importers prior to distribution to ensure you have a good product. Alarm bells are ringing for me straight away as when you consider it takes 6-8 weeks for an e85 shipment to arrive from India/Singapore/Vietnam - or even longer if further abroad, and the fact its probably about e60 when it hits our shores, there could be a number of issues with it aside from it losing density and a number of other key characteristics - which mind you, then United's suppliers then blend it with god knows what to boost it back to +/- e85 before you fill up.... IMO nothing beats home grown.
  20. Out of interest, I work for Caltex at the Lytton Refinery in Bris and have had lengthy debates on ethanol based fuels for some time now with the onsite chemists. I am aware of E10 fouling fuel filters with particulates (especially in the early blends where sugar cane was sourced for processing in early build facilities and had high "micro strand" content), but I haven't heard of any negatives of running straight e85. A lot of testing has been done between Caltex and Holden on this (about 4 years prior to e85 hitting the pump) so I'd be sceptical that this is an overseas issue and not a concern here in Aus. I'm not sure if other fuel distributers (BP, Shell, etc) are providing e85 at the pump, and if they are, I'd be more concerned that this supply is fully imported.
  21. Nissan Japan has announced its changes to the 2014 (2013 JDM). The 2014 GTR is said to be the start of the 3rd generation GTR and while the exterior has not changed (the facelift looks to take place for next year's 2015 model) the GTR has evolved in 3 major ways. Firstly, in the suspension department the cars "roll center" has been lowered to give the 2014 GTR a more planted feel with less unnecessary movement while high speed driving. More body reinforcements have been added for 2014 aswell as new cam bolts to provide a better alignment to the front end. Next , while the peak power of 550PS and peak torque remains the same, internal changes such as new injectors have been made to allow mid range response and more torque between 4K-6K RPMs. This along with less drop off of turbo pressure is a factor in improved acceleration resulting in a one tenth improvement in 0-62 time of 2.7 (which should translate to an astonishing 2.6 sec 0-60 sprint.) Interior was the next thing that was improved. the JDM premium model GTR gets an optional fashionable "Amber Red" Interior that includes two-tone accents aswell as high grade hand sewn stitching . Other improvements include a craftsmanship badge added to the front of the engine and the option of NISMO Competition engine oil 2193E to coincide with last years switch to NISMO differential oil.
  22. Any movement on this? I'm thinking about having a chat with National Warranty Company, as I have seen a few older GTR's on carsales with these extended warranties.
  23. You wont even get one out of Nissan, they send all replacement parts back to Japan for examination.
  24. How did you lose that mate? Or shouldn't I ask
  25. ^ this +1 - 100% agree. Might be worth the upgrade then The red interior reminds me of a mate of mine with a white Lexus LFA. They come standard with all red interior. Looks very "meh" IMO. I prefer black with red highlights, or just plain black
