  1. Haha that's still coming
  2. For anyone following along at home i suggest some tissues or even a towel for this update haha So i got all alot of the cooler pipes and bov pipes back the other day, so i decided to assemble the recirc system I have a second system because it's a bit over complicated lol So i kind of freshened up the rubber joiners and brand new clamps all round Looks heaps better than before So this is the part where you need a towel So being a s2 my car naturally had s2 heaslights, they were by mo means in bad shape, especially because gtr headlights are glass But i went to buy some parts and got a bit carried away with a full wallet haha Whats in there you say? A new badge set to suit a crystal white r32 gtr Brand new door jamb rubber set Brand new wing gasket set New c pillar trims, common issue on every r32 And the piece to really put a horn on a Jelly fish Brand new n1 headlights

  5. So as you guys have probably noticed I like my stuff pretty original so I ordered 2 of these Available in silver or gold, I ordered 2 silver decals, so hopefully they turn up soon, I think it's the small touches that make the car stand out The whole aim is to make it look period correct 90s jap style I'm thinking black or gunmetal centres on the SSRs They are pretty rare wheels so I haven't found much of them in other colours I did manage to find a guy who refinished his set from silver to black in the UK Before resto After resto I also had thoughts of satin black but still not sure The more input the better
  6. Alright a small update Parts back from powdercoating Picked up some new stainless steel cap screws for them so it looks brand new, i just need an original nismo strut brace decal which ill be ordering tonight Pretty happy with how it came out, itll get put on the shelf till the rest of the bay is finished So I've removed the wheels and started looking at them, deciding what i should do with them, restore them or sell them, i think ill have a crack at restoring them Ive ordered some nicer style ssr centre caps but they require mods to the hub bore, also had some decals made up as replicas of the original, i got 2 sets done 1 with white writing and one with black. I can't decide if i should colour match the centre's white or do them kh1 r32 gtr gunmetal or just gloss black Whats people's thoughts? The centre of the wheel is pretty unusual where the centre cap goes Here are the decals i had made, abit hard to make out the white ones
  7. Alrighty then abit more progress New thermostat turned up, slightly different design to the original one I was waiting on the thermostat to fit the coolant necks, so abit of toyota grey fipg and they are on Mounted up the front coolant pipe to the cam belt cover with some nice new stainless bolts New oil drain hoses Fitted up nicely, also fitted the original lower heat shield, and all the support brackets with new bolts The remaining banjo bolts turned up, new vs old, they don't age well Tried polishing the cas but because it's poor quality cast alloy it doesn't polish well, so black it is Inner guard liners removed and cleaned the wheel arches with wax and grease remover I also nearly forgot to add the pic of my front pipe It was unknown what brand it was, turns out its a mines stainless steel front pipe and rrp is $1050 new in japan :-o
  8. Hey man they can be made to fit the factory airbox but I'm not a big fans of mafs, just bought a new ecu today but I'll post updates on that once I'm up to date till now
  9. Hmm I might look at the gears then, better to do it now than do a motor Priced up Reimax gears, similar price to the spool gears, is any brand in particular better? Yeh the previous owner really made a mess in there sadly
  10. So i had to get the puller out to get the wheel off lol, with the fine spline they really hold on So the s1 wheel fits a s2 fine its just the wire for the horn is different, so i think ill run the s1 wheel, thinner spokes appeal to me more So i put in an order for all the little plastic pipe organizers in the bay, surprisingly alot of them And I've basically taken every bracket/pipe/pulley i have and dropped off to my local powdercoater to have refinished So all mint brackets and stuff should set off the engine bay being freshly painted white
  11. Thanks for the heads up guys, hicas is removed so it should be all good yeh? Haha its a cheap chinese piece of crap wheel lol Removing the wheel it snapped, a proper wheel should have strong spokes that tie into a metal ring for the outer circle of the wheel This thing has some flimsy metal for the spokes and thats it From the front the spokes are slightly thinner on the s1 wheel, the horn button is different and they aren't interchangeable between s1 and s2 From the back the s1 wheel has a round plastic surround The s2 has the plastic extend out to the spokes with a screw on each spoke to secure, and you'll notice the holes in the rear plastic housing are offset in s1 and straight up and down on the s2 So now i need to chase down a s2 gtr horn button and get tge s2 wheel restored by the looks.
  12. The bay is filthy, white doesn't help either, I've cleaned alot of the soot off with wax and grease remover, so its probably half as bad as it was lol. The second steering wheel i bought because this happened So i needed a wheel to push it around with, once i bought the second gtr wheel i noticed there are differences between the two and with abit of research there is s1 and s2 wheels. My gtr is a 1992 series 2, and unfortunately the wheel i had restored is a 89-91 series 1 wheel and it may not fit Which is abit sad so i may have to sell it.
  13. Ok so update time New parts arrived Under plenum water/vac lines were abit sad so i bought a new one, im tossing up the idea of just buying every external water/oil/vaccum pipe brand new I then pulled off the vaccum chamber and replaced the o rings Most are for vaccum but the 3 small ones are for coolant There were also some dodgy looking bolts for the clutch fan, so i fitted up brand new oem studs Also picked up some seatbelt stalks, both pairs of seats i bought were missing these, surprisingly hard to find these I also did abit of a parts run down to the gold coast Picked up a centre console, Powersteering pump, steering wheel, nismo front strut brace, a parcel shelf and a brand new oem n1 reo bar Nismo brace is abit fruity but itll come up nice after a resto N1 reo trial fit Shitty picture but a brand new twin turbo badge The bay prerty much stripped for painting Going to remove the front guards, 2 remaining brake lines and the brake/clutch boosters Shes booked for the bay painting in 2/3weeks time so fingers crossed this goes to plan
  14. Alrighty so i did abit of a test fit of the twin setup New banjo bolts in everything Interestingly the rb26 exhaust manifolds are slotted so are adjustable to a certain extent forward and back Side on shot of the twins Thats prerty much it for the hotside till a few more bits arrive, still need some new oil drain hoses, the hose between the front and rear twin turbo pipes Also on the cold side waiting on a thermostat and a few other bits and pieces Cheers
  15. i have a 2jz jzx100 chaser so no need to push the gtr hard for power, just trying to make it as tough as possible without dropping 40k on an engine build, its a shame rbs arent spline drive from factory there's no way of doing a 2jz swap without ruining the car so not an option what power did you break your n1 pump with?
  16. I've known a few people to use them without problems, I think if you don't sit on limiter and abuse them they are fine at moderate hp levels I'm running -7s so it's not going to be any record breaker I don't like the idea of the nitto and tomei pumps pumping more oil than they need to then having to add resirictors and open up bearing clearances to deal with it Ideally I'd like to run the n1 pump with billet spline drive gears and a sump extension but that means tunnel boring the mains because rbs aren't precise in the tolerances to run them out of the box For now I'm hoping the n1 pump will do Hawkins is running 500kw on a stock motor/pump/sump, if I can go 350-400hp that'll do me
  17. Lol i don't know about that, i trust corolla parts more than nissan parts personally, that and they look better, do the job better, last longer and are a third of the price, seems a no brainer to me? If i could toyotaise the engine internals i would haha Its got a brand new n1 oil pump and a tomei baffle, dont know if that'll suffice for what I'm doing or not tho Billet oil pump gears would be nice, its a long nose crank engine so touch wood no issues there
  18. Pretty happy with how the loom looks now So the update everyone is probably waiting on, wondering what colour ill do my cam cover set So i picked the parts up from being coated, i was abit dissapointed that some parts didn't get done so ill have to take them back, but the parts that were done look excellent I had to think long and hard about what colour to do the covers for the head, red and black are the common two combos but everything has been done from grey to green and even silver So what colour did i choose? Yes gloss white! Something that you don't often see done, the only other one ive seen with white is the powertune white elephant Theyare literally only just sitting on for these pictures So it took abit of mucking around but they are bolted down now, you can see the neat little toyota rubber washers Amazing what a bit of effort and elbow grease does haha Fitted a brand new cas gasket And assembled the turbos I hope this update was somewhat eyegasmic lol Enjoy
  19. Hey Scooby, i had it done overseas while i was on holidays and the place was super difficult to find, if your still interested pm me and ill try find the details but itd be easier locally A few more pics of broken things being fixed I decided to pull the throttle body assembly apart and the runner that bolts to the head, what do you know reused paper gaskets lol This is a no no, reusing old paper gaskets is no good, and paper gaskets in general especially on a boosted engine are a bad idea The previous owner also fitted some silicone hoses under the plenum, im going to give these a chance but if they leak they will be replaced by oem hoses, the kit isn't comprehensive either so i have ordered the remaining old hoses from nissan It takes ages to scrape all the broken gasket off Now clean as a whistle All cleaned up and abit of paint, i noticed the o rings to the vaccum chamber were rather tired, tried to get them from local auto stores but they are odd sized so have been ordered new from nissan I bought about 14 tridon Hose clamps because i like things to be uniform, and surprisingly just about every hose on these engines is the same diameter Also bought some turbosmart 3mm and 6mm vaccum line, Every hose on this engine is old and perishing so they are all being replaced This is basically how its sitting for the moment till my parts are finished being coated The fuel rail and my newly aquired r34 dumps and stainless front pipe still need coating tho too So the next update should be a better one with the covers and pipes fitted
  20. Good work man I really like the look of your car And im abit jelous of how clean the interior is. Good work and keep the updates coming, I'm following closely
  21. Heres half an update This is literally the number of stufs that were fitted to the manifold for running 5 out of 12 haha I can't stand things not right so here goes Pulled the old studs and cleaned up the surface with some emery paper Latest revision of studs from nissan japan I tapped out the threads because they were abit hairy, new studs went in easy as pie Oem studs fitted up and some multi layer steel gaskets because nissan graphite gaskets are crap and only a single use item Brand new bar and lip mated up together, looks the goods Some new parts from kudos, r34 gtr engine ornament and hks intake gasket kit I dont like to hide the fact I'm not a fan of nissan engineering, and where ever i can I've vowed to toyotaise this datsun as much as i can First thing is the cam cover rubber washers, the nissan ones don't age well and lose their integrity as you can see in my picture, my rb26 had about 5 out of 20 still intact, the rest had disintegrated As you can see the toyota part is slightly smaller, these are used on the jz series of engines, they are a third of the price of their nissan counterparts and last much longer (my 2jz still has the original washers on it from factory) So a handy tip for any nissan folk, i need my cam covers back before i can fit them but once they are back ill show pictures
  22. Haha it seems a common trend, im having thoughts of weather i should build it now or not The belts new but your right it doesn't look it, so ill be replacing the lot with new oem gear Haha thanks man, alot of people read along there but don't like to contribute Lol i love the nismo wheels too, took me a long time to get 10s Cheers
  23. Ok next update There was mismatched sized bolts in everything so i thought it wise to run a tap through everything, amazing how much swarf came out of the threads I then did abit of a dummy fit of the twin turbo setup, still waiting to find a set of decent dumps and front pipe, sadly can't find anything decent So then stripped back apart, exhaust housings removed and the whole lot sent for hpc and powder coating Cam covers and plenum also removed and sent for powdercoating, this is the last time this engine will look this bad under my ownership lol Ok so NEW PARTS time, everyone loves new parts! I managed to pickup a brand new n1 front bar and lip!!!! Pretty amazing and glad to be able to fit them to my gtr, also managed to sell off my second hand n1 bumper, lost abit of money on it but that's cars i guess Some brand new xspurt 1000cc injectors to suit rb26, need to look into how to clean up the fuel rail tho, its looking abit sad, possibly re-zink coat it, anyone done that before? Power fc pro, z32 afms and a walbro 450 pump Im tossing up ditching the pfc in favor of a plug in haltech platinum I'll be receiving the covers and turbo setup back in about a week so stay tuned for abit of rb26 porn!
  24. A couple new parts purchases also Mint Factory airbox from japan New radiator support section, gearknob, rubber gear boot, number plate bracket, corner bumper brackets, and some other odds and ends Looks like it had a flogged out patrol gearboot or something New gearknob, looks like someone tried to eat the old one haha, its not actually grey in person lol something to do with the flash Not happy with the gear boot or handbrake boot and handle, so they will be redone later on And i picked up another set of front seats because I wasn't 100% happy with the old ones Need to find a rear set to match now as my current ones are abit faded Hope those following are enjoying it so far And if you are following please comment ;-)
  25. Haha it tends to always be the way especially with these old girls Alrighty then Sometimes to go forward you need to go backwards, which is a pain but its the nature of the beast So after seeing questionable workmanship i thought the motor had to come out to check what else was shonky Half way out Dirty bish all the way out Those playing at home, this is why you run at least a full length dump pipe when runninh your car, it makes a f $#^ing mess!!!, studs missing between head and manifold also makes a massive mess, dont do it! So fitted up to the stand looking like a filthy whore, had only just been out but no attempt at cleaning anything at all So abit of time with acid and a gurney and we have this An rb26 that looks pretty clean :-) The intake side is still fully dressed so hasn't been done to the same extent but will be when the plenum is removed Head has been reco by someone else so I'm just hoping its been fitted properly, i can see it actually has arp head studs like its supposed to Picked up some factory piping for the 2860s Also found bolts for cas were incorrect length and munted the cam gear Im hoping that's the last of the f**k ups
