Spewan! (mirror) Aircon just made it overheat, but i am making an extinguisher bracket for track days. Wouldnt take much more though... some brakes and a seat.... hmmm. I need to keep it road legal. And have a loud stereo. If i was going full track car id strip it to nothing, then build up with a plan. One day. -

Started stripping it, and removing obsolete bits. (aircon pump finally gone) In preparation for new injectors, timing belt etc, waterpump, Z32 afm, fancy timing gears, Nistune, radius rods, and a clutch. And some little things like a battery isolator, re do the gauge mounting, some more stickers etc. -
Totally agree. you just gotta pick the right one to see.

If you have the dreaded creaks in your front end this could be the solution. Be sure to eliminate any other possibilities first. Before you start this you must try to get the lower bearing. It is hard to find, Nissan will make one for $150, and the dust seal is $120, so try and save the seals. Be safe, use stands and a good jack. You need a breaker bar, a 14, two 17s, a 19, a flathead screwdriver or two (one strong and one sharp). Take off the front wheels A bit of wd to loosen things up. Pop off the brake line clips, just these two is enough. Undo the nut on top of the swaybar link. Take off the washer and rubber. Take the sharp screwdriver and carefully pry off the dustcap. Undo the nut and take off the washer too. Out it comes. Dont forget a block of wood! Undo the nut at the bottom of the strut. Take it off the arm. Undo the nut and bolt on the outside of the upper arm. Push the arm down to get the bolt out All gone. Always clean parts, especially if you are taking them to a workshop. Rust! Remove, etch prime, paint. Now you can take it to get the bearings pressed out, and the new ones in. Putting it back together is easy, just do it all in reverse, and dont forget to grease the new bearings, use plenty. Thats pretty easy, its only a few nuts and bolts, the hard part is getting the bearings and seals. Torque settings: Foot pounds. Kingpin nut. 72-87 Lower strut nut. 80-94 Outside upper arm nut and bolt. 65-80 Swaybar link. No data for gtst. GTR is 30-35

I found there are no lower kingpin bearings available for R32s. Bearing shops dont have and cant get or make them. Nissan dont have any but they will make them. it takes 3-4 weeks and they cost $150 each. Dust seals are $120 each so save em if you can. The upper bearing is common, about $8-$15 depending on brand. The lower bearing has a number but you will get the wrong one if you use that number. Check the dimensions. This one. Good luck.

You aint a mechanic, nor am i, but your getting faster and better with the practice. Dont give up hope, you can do heaps with not much, cos your human and we have big smart brains. When i was a youngster i stripped ans rebuilt a whole car on a gravel driveway, paint job too, with very basic tools. its easy. I bet you got it this time too. If not, i bet you know whats wrong too.
-
It seems, when you know whats going on, and you know what you want, workshops dont want to do it. Ive been sent away many times when i have asked for a specific thing to be done. When i go and get a tune ( one day ) im going to keep my mouth shut, and hope they do a good job. Anyway your better of doing it yourself as some workshops do crappy work, or they can make honest mistakes too. Peace of mind comes from seeing it done right. If you DIY you can triple check its right.

I got this, only little bits missing, im sure you have some bits lying around to make fit.

D.I.Y. Mik replied to ck_chino's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have the same thing, in the right hand side. I am looking for kingpin bearings but i cannot find the bottom bearing. if you can find them let me know where to get it. -
Ha ha.. if you can find a manual for gtst ill suck your...... No, but seriously, the bottom one is very hard to find. does anyone know where to get one? I went to the bearing shop and they found another number on it: sfo6a26vpxi again its hard to read, the 6s look like 8s but i think they are 6s. Ill try and get a photo of the numbers- no my cameras not up to it

Pulled out some front suspension bits, got the bearing numbers, monday ill see if i can get em. It makes that creaking noise So i pulled it out Bearings are in this bit, so i can just take it to someone with a press. top is 6204V bottom is 6907L8, the top is common ill find out about the bottom. Easy peasy, wont even need a wheel alignment. -

Major Service - Gmb Water Pumps
D.I.Y. Mik replied to Dose Pipe Sutututu's topic in General Maintenance
There is a different water pump, i think rb 20 has one hole different (very important). Also... I have been advised not to use an N1 pump as they dont pump well at lower revs, they are for racing. At high revs they have less cavitation than standard. Ps: the pump is made in Japan, that would be good enough for me, no question.- 22 replies
