  3. Thanks man. Boost sorted now im running straight off the actuator- only10psi. Can feel the power difference, but its ok.
  4. Got the dremel out and put the n1 vents in today. The Nissan ones are lovely, nice paint job on them already, and they just clip in if you make the hole right. Reminds me why i like Japanese made stuff.

  7. Does anyone know where to get an upper trunion bearing kit for r32 gtst? Thats the big black knuckle up top, and i need the vertical bearing. I need the rhs but both would be better. I cant find a bearing kit anywhere, and the whole assembly from Nissan Japan is $600. Help please.
  8. Checked the head tension today, all good. Found a small hose had come off, the tiny one under the throttle body. could be my boost problem. Made a tool for the head bolts, very simple, just chopped a 10mm allen key. Pic wont load.... anyway i ended up with a 10mm hex shaft and just used a 10mm socket on the torque wrench.
  9. Me too, maybe i should have waited around for a few mins, guess i didnt expect anyone to come, but i went driving and then overboost. next sun will be cool cos people will hang around
  10. This is one of those tipping points, if the head re-torque doesnt work, maybe its time to pull the motor out and sort everything. Trying to fix this and that as the previous owners neglect and bodge ups become apparent, is a never ending process. Starting over is in my experience the best thing to do. I already have half the stuff i need. New turbo and clutch will be a must, so it will be a tight budget. Get everything right, and it will cop a massive flogging and beg for more. And i have a garage now.
  11. Spotted me only at the cotter, not sutton. Dunno what we all thought was happening, but my car hates me sometimes and likes to go all wrong. Will see yaal next sun even if its in the ovlov.

  13. Thankyou richard for reading all of it. Thats what im worried about, some kind of leak. After unwanted 18 psi boost i didnt want it popping a gasket or seal somewhere, but thats what happens i guess you need a special head gasket for high boost. And the rad is new, thats why the cooling system got a good clean before. Wastegate is free with the new bellmouth on. Happened just as i was going up the first bit of the twistys at the cotter. so back to old actuator and bov, im re setting the ebc too.
  14. I have recently cleaned out the cooling system and it been fine untill now, i have slimy brown sludge again. The oil looks ok, no water i can see. I have recently had overboosting problems with my rb 25 turbo. Could it be related? Head bolts need a re-tighten? Turbo seals going? Its strange as the coolant is real clean still, just sludge under the cap and coating the inside of the overflow bottle.
  15. Overboost again... So ill wait for it to cool down and change the actuator back to the old one and the bov too. Brown sludge in the radiator? wtf? i just cleaned it all out. maybe the head bolts needs a re-torque after all the overboosting. maybe the turbo seals are going.
  16. COOOOOL Ill see yous around Defect? Cops? This is ACT man... you almost never see RTA, and the cops are AFP (Absolutely Farken Proffesional) They have more important things to do (unless your defect is actually dangerous).
  17. should do it again sometime Today was nice out there, going tomorrow too. Probly bout 12ish. Check list: 1. Car goes and is safe to drive. 2. Has rego and petrol. 3. Permission from the missus? just take bubs with me if theres a problem. (slower but just as good or better, he loves the turbo sound) Done. If no-one comes, cool.... its still a nice drive on the new road.
  18. Im up for whatever as long as my cars going. Totally, just go. Cant please everyone so just please yourself... went on a cruise just me and Brice, still awesome fun with only 2 cars. Today i saw about 12 bikes and 6 cars at the cotter in a group, bbq and cruise or something. I might just go the cotter every sunny saturday about 12:00, if youre there then cool.

  20. Make sure you didnt run over a bottle of vege oil or something That kind of thing has happened to me before Engine oil vapour condensed and leaking out somwhere from intake?
  21. No, its shut making boost (mostly anyway) and as the pressure climbs, it pushes on the wastegate actuator, opening the gate and dropping the pressure. The wastegate allows hot gasses to pass by the exhaust turbine without pushing it around. When the gate is shut all the exhaust energy is pushing through the turbo, and spins the compressor making boost. I didnt know any of this 2 years ago, SAU educates.
  22. I thought it was %15 And that was 20 years ago, if they changed it, it would be even less or nothing by now. lewis in SA make a 2.25l which is %12.5 bigger, still under the %15. I had a 1600 celica with a 2l but it still said 1600 on the block. how?, 1800 crank and rods with a 3.5mm overbore, and a Yamaha twincam head. Careful, as the 32 with a 25 was non turbo, and the 26 was a GTR with different brakes etc. You may have to be real sneaky, but if you get it on paper... sweet.
  23. nope, same if you think about it, the split doesnt make more power or anything cos the gate is shut with throttle on anyway...
