Where to get Skyline Serviced
D.I.Y. Mik replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
A couple of weeks ago, probably from working too much. Just before starting on the 32, but the last thing he needs is to stress about work. So i waited awhile before calling back. Hes had many many well wishers and says hes a bit over it. I think heaps of people know him in the industry and motorsport. Obviously has a lot of freinds, like i said, a nice bloke. Maybe we could send him a get well soon card from SAU ACT, it would be nice, and unobtrusive. -
Goodbye old faithful. The ute is sold, had her for about 10 years, many great memories, like drifting on the dirt, in the dark, snowing, all the way to Adaminaby. And hauling the bikes up to the brindies on those crisp, clear winter mornings. However all the proceeds are going into the Skyline. So funds to get ready for SAU nats in november. Cosmetics or mechanicals... hmm.

Where to get Skyline Serviced

Suspension Chris at Inline qbn, who is the local guru, had a heart attack just before doing an extensive job on the 32. He is still working, however he cant take on the same workload as before, even though he has some helpers now. So if you want the best be prepared to wait. Second best is probably capital steering and suspension fyshwick. I havent had work done by them, but they supplied my parts quickly, and others give them a good rap(earlier in this thread). They have a large workshop and lots of workers, so im sure they would be quick on the job too. But if your getting all adjustable arms and stuff, you want them adjusted right, so Inline is the way to go. Ps.. my car was the s-box there, Porches, Ferrari, BMW, Merc, and some beautiful oldies like a Corvette and Mustang. This guy really knows what he's doing. Nice bloke too. -
Thats pretty much it, if you have bad luck and get done for defects, its tricky to get out of it with your mortgage intact. Ive always lived here, when you dont have to pass the car every year, it gets more modified. Ive had vehicles registered that go 260kph but so crap the exhaust falls off, its weird putting z rated tires on a shitbox. However being a tradie i drive a ute every day(more mods) and dont seem to attract their attention. Troy if your totally legal and everything engineered, thats hard to get, be proud. And enjoy peace of mind. by the way 2 anchor points? did you get twins? that would be cool.

Oh man that makes me feel sick. In the R32, I put a bolt with a large washer/plate through the parcel shelf, in the exact spot i was shown to do it. They inspected it and passed it no worries. Thank you to Roofrack City in Phillip. They are approved for this. It cost... oh man, i cant remember exactly, about $15. Sorry dude. Yeah Dickson=Death

Missed out, my cars in the shop. Awesome guys, this is what we (sau act) should do more often.

Ive got a few damaged bits id like to repair and wrap. The rear wing is the main problem as it is painted satin black. Do you know what the best type of primer would be? Ps. What is the croc or lizard pattern worth per m? (lizard car, awesome!)

Me too, so easy and cheap!

Pick and shovel with hard work or a bobcat and cash. I made a driveway, carport, and level paved area all by hand. It helps to have construction experience so you get the drainage and retaining walls right. Second hand pavers and my own ute made it cheap. My back says i should have paid for a bobcat.

aaah man now im all embarrassed. yes thats me with the red 32

Ok, yous freaked me out, Im more used to dealing with people who would not be joking about that. Or offer things that are stolen, maybe its the long hair, people think im crooked. And had plenty of stuff stolen from me, OK COOL! I guess i should have used my brains, you wouldnt write it in public if you were going to do it.

Yeah sin maybe ill get something off your car, you got so many good bits. DONT STEAL. Im watching you f**kwits. If SAU is like this then im out f**k use all.
-
Pedders aye? Maybe should have said "new" sounds better than Pedders. cool car, but pics would be nice.

Remember guys this is a real mod and you might have to do some chopping and drilling to fit it. Also your gunna have to look for the best place and way to mount the bits, everyone has different needs, tools etc. If you google images of oil cooler youll see all the different ways. For example im relocating the battery to the boot, the thermostat and filter will go there. It also frees up space to relocate my catch can. I have a big intercooler and theres no space up front so Im thinking of putting the cooler in front of the right wheel with a guard to stop rocks flying off the wheel into it. I got a cheap kit and had to buy a thermostat, hoses and fittings to complete it. So it cost about $700 all up. Ps. With Speedflow style hoses you can remove the ends, get a longer hose and refit the ends. When you get the hose ask the guy how to refit the ends so you do it properly.

Car Unstable Especially At High Speeds
D.I.Y. Mik replied to Thelen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hicas eliminator is good because it eliminates the outer tie rod ball joints. More expensive than a lock bar but cheaper than tie rods and ball joints Those outer rear hicas ball joints are expensive and hard to find. -
Whos a good shop in Australia? For Bosch. RB20det Theres someone in vic thats good but cant remember the name. Any help appreciated.

What did the smoke under the bonnet smell like? Have you ever smelled fuel thats not burning but its so hot it turns to white smoke? a very odd smell. Do you know what fried wires smell like? (starter motor) The other white smoke is coolant burning, after all the water has boiled away. smells like a chemical factory. like its gunna choke you. Your nose is a chemical sensor that is very easy to use.

Auto pro has, can get some bits. dont forget wrecks.

That sounds like something boiling for sure, theres a restriction which opens at a certain pressure and it builds up then lets go repeatedly. If thats the case it should gradually slow down as the engine cools. Ive heard that sound somewhere before, cant remember.

Anyone want to get rid of bits before i go to the shop? I need: front upper arms front lower ball joints rear tie rod joints all 4 subframe mounts any new bushes or rubbers Want new stuff Just making sure cos i always see stuff on the forum a week after i buy it. And a bolt on bov, gtr or aftermarket and someone with robot arms to undo the gearbox filler plug

Fuel cleaner could have dislodged some crap and its stuck somewhere else now. Hope its not blocking an injector. that would be bad. I had issues with my cold start circuit, so i stuffed half a Nerf dart in the pipe. Much better but not fixed. If you wait for the fuel pump to prime the rail, does it start easier?

Auto Elec For Battery Relocation
D.I.Y. Mik replied to azathoth's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I think sin mentioned that you need a vented battery box in the ACT even if its a sealed battery. Thats for rego, if it matters.
