  1. and they are a b#@$% to remove. I have tried metho, WD40, turps with little result. I have bought some adhesive remover from bunnings - will see how that goes.
  2. Ok so I decided to remove the hideous purple visor things and they came off ok apart from one - drivers side rear passenger. Need a replacement door trim - any ideas where I can find one? Cheers Andrew
  3. Hi Guys, Anyone know of a good installer in Melbourne? I want to install a double DIN dvd player/sat nav so will need the whole fascia kit thing and heater controls. I will also need an immobiliser fitted for insurance purposes. Would prefer to use someone familiar with V series skylines. Thanks Andrew
  4. Hi Everyone, Picked up my 300GT today. Really nice car and amazing value for money. I think I read somewhere that the tank is 80L. Can anyone confirm this? I was low on fuel, light was on and my interpretation of the trip computer was that I only had about 50km left in the tank. So when I filled up it took 58 litres. If it is an 80 litre tank then my gauge is faulty, as is the trip computer. 80 seems like a lot to me......
  5. Better welcome me to the club fellas. I went to look at that 300Gt on carsales this morning with the intention of just checking it out. After driving it, I bought it. Nice car - it ain't perfect, but for that age and price what can you expect. Comes with 12 mths reg, RWC, service and detail. Not too bad I thought. Now I will have to apologise up front for all the stupid questions I am going to ask about the car! And thanks for all your advice.
  6. What sort of indications should you look for to verify kms? general wear and tear on the vehicle? wear on pedals? stuff like that?
  7. I guess it is because of a couple of things - for starters it is an 11 year old car now and many people would be put off by that, as well as the fact it is an import. I have sold a couple of cars recently and my message to anyone looking to sell is to be patient. It really is a buyers market. If you want a quick sale, drop your price otherwise be prepared to wait. Someone will eventually come along.
  8. This is the car Im looking at on the weekend. Skyline 300GT Has anyone had any experience with Leisure Vehicles in Williamstown? Im paranoid about the speedo's being wound back.
  9. is CVT sometimes referred to as a sports auto? Like this one: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/nissan-skyline-2001-10606468?vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294963846 4294963593 903 4294868011&distance=25&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~1&sort=default
  10. also looking at anything with low kms I guess, that isnt a toyota yaris. Mazda 6, Subie liberty, impreza, VW jetta etc etc All ok cars but not the same value dollar for dollar as a 250 or 300.
  11. Hi Guys, Hoping you can help. I was originally i t he market for a 350Gt a few months back, but my circumstances have changed and I don't have quite as much cash to throw around. I need a daily driver that is reliable but comfortable for around the $10-12k mark. I was having a look around on Carsales at all the usual rubbish for that price. Then I came across a couple of 300GT's for that price. There were also some 250GT's. All around 2001. Now my question is this - are these cars too good to be true? some of them, have less than 50,000kms. What are some of the things I should look for when buying? any horror stories about expensive repairs? I also get the impression that there are a few people out there importing them and selling straight away. Is this something I should be wary of? I am on the road with my job and sometimes interstate, so the car has to be 100% reliable. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew
  12. Hi everyone, Im a first time poster looking from some advice from the people that should know. After the recent hail storms in Melbourne Im looking for a new daily driver. My forester turbo is a write off and I after considering a number of options I have come down to 3 or 4 options - V35 is one of them. I am looking for a comfortable yet reasonably quick and entertaining car to drive every day, that isnt like everything else on the road. I could never bring myself to buying a falcon or commodore. The cars that are on the list are: V35 6spd coupe WRX Mazda 6 MPS (or maybe even 3 MPS) Golf GTI At the moment I think perhaps the rex might be the best bang for buck, but have always liked the look of the skyline. Have never driven one, so I will need to do that to help make the decision. The only things I am concerned about with the 350 is the need to change the audio system over (as I understand it) as well as fuel economy, insurance and servicing. I work on the road so I do a lot of metro and country kilometres. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Looking to spend high teens to low 20's. Thanks guys Andrew
