Bloody hell. Why can't these bastards leave our shit alone. I had my car broken into a week ago as well. In my case they took the phone. Your thief must be smarter at least, cos there's no point in stealing a phone if you're just going to lock it out the second you find out anyway.

Isn't that a high mount turbo though?
-
For circuit racing, I would go the 2835 too. The GT-RS is nice as well, although I don't know much about it. Does anyone know if it bolts straight on? If I was in the market for a new turbo, it'd be a very hard decision between the 2535, GT-RS and the 2835 for me (I don't circuit race though, I'm talking about for the street).

This car is pretty unique, James. I mean how many GTRs are there on the streets. Apart from the lack of AWD, this thing could probably take down a few GTRs quite easily from a rolling start.
-
Nice summary. I still have my SDU sticker on my car actually. I don't know why I refuse to remove it. I guess I just like it.
-
Yeah I know. That's a bit of an oversight. The motortraders site doesn't have any V35 info at all though.
-
I used to point everyone to imports.motortraders.net, but it isn't updated anymore. The information on http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/ is much more up to date and has way more cars. It's the exact same layout too, so one of the two has stolen/bought/copied the information from the other one.

Yeah they're damn quick. I love the 1JZ engine (in both single and twin turbo form). They have 363Nm stock for the twin turbo and 378Nm for the single turbo, but soarers are fat bastards at around 1600kg from memory. The R32/R33/R34 GTRs put out 353/368/392Nm stock, but weigh between 1500kg and 1540kg depending on the model. The 25t is down at 294Nm, but they only weigh between 1360kg and 1390kg. So yeah, they're not a bad match up for a rolling start, but from the line, the 4WD will be the deciding factor I'd say. EDIT: just checked up the 89 GTR weight - it's down at 1430kg. That's a big difference from the 94 Vspec II weight. Also, I forgot to mention that I'm comparing torque as all the kW ratings are 206kW and we know that that's not true. It's kind of dodgy anyway, since these are peak ratings. What would be nice is a single dyno chart of all the cars mentioned.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10...
dojobi replied to Rezz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Ignoring the looks (I actually quite like how it looks, but that's just me), how can you say no to a turbo engine with variable valve lift? This thing will be a beast. -
Does it really matter though if it's not a conversational thread? I mean this thread will be relevant as long as GTRs are on the roads.
-
Ahh, I see then. That'd probably be what I saw. Didn't know that about the coupe either. Thanks.
-
Maybe I saw a lower spec one when they first came out (remember the 3.5Ls weren't out at first). I'm pretty certain that the ones I saw did not look as good as that top one - which does look damn nice btw.
-
I've come to the conclusion that you're pretty much screwed not matter what you do. If they want something, they'll take it. There's really not much point in alarm systems unless you personally are near your car. I always ignore alarms and even if I saw someone near a car with an alarm going off, I'd just assume they accidentally set it off. My suggestion? Hidden kill switch. I'm putting that in my next car.
-
I was also defected for blue lights (they came on the car; I was removing them the next week). I'd say you'll have trouble with that defect. Everything else seemed like it was a total joke though. There's no way you should get done for those. I'd be fighting this one.
-
Very true. I think the current GTR image really does require some sort of turbo and AWD though. I'd probably even settle for a really high powered AWD NA car actually.
-
One other thing, I think the Skyline doesn't come in an AWD configuration with the VQ35DE (only the VQ35DD). In the US, the G35 is available this way. It's almost a V35 GTR.
-
I'd also love to see Infinti G35s here. They look better than the V35 Skyline in Japan. The rims are bigger and nicer, the kit looks better and the badge is a really nice looking badge. I'd buy one in a second. I think they also get a bit more in the way of luxury items.
-
They also stripped a LOT of small things off the car to cut costs. I used to have a link to a site that showed most of the differences. Other things became options - like rear wipers and stuff like that. They even stopped painting the 'Turbo' word on the engine.
-
I wonder how FWD cars will sell in this bracket. BMW, Mercedes and Lexus - the 3 main ones afaik - are all RWD (except for the ES300, but that's their entry level one based on the Camry). I know if I was after a luxury car, there's no way in hell it'd be a Honda or an Acura.
-
For years I've wondered what possible use it could have. I've never touched mine ever and since it obviously isn't required in Japan I assumed it was some weird ADR that was put in for some obscure reason that noone knew about. Good to know someone found a use for it

Thanks for the tip Terreto. It's something I've always known, but I never thought I'd have my car broken into since it hasn't ever happened before. I'll be a tad more careful in the future. BTW Adamstown is a quiet suburb of Newcastle, so I wasn't even in a particularly busy part of town. I guess I just got unlucky. I hear about people having their cars broken into in town quite often, but not in the suburbs.
-
P1E and Hail - yeah I just thought I'd be in there for 5 mins and didn't think I needed to take it all inside with me. All my stuff was on the floor of the passenger seat btw, and my tinting is so damn dark you can barely see in during the daytime. I think they just smashed it hoping that there was something inside. They couldn't have seen my stuff.
-
Can't say I've been to Kepsey recently, but my car has been there before - you might have seen me then. I'm usually just cruising around Newcastle. If I see your white R33 around I'll give you a wave I'm going to give Famous a call a bit later today, so I'll let you all know how it goes. I doubt I'll even use them for this claim though, as it's just the window that can be claimed and that's under the excess. And yes, ALL thieves should have what you said done to them if they get caught in the act. No exceptions
-
Adam, I asked them if they had one, but unfortunately they don't. They've got it in their shop that slightly captures the footpath outside, but it wasn't hooked up that night apparently. boj01 - Thanks. I'll check them out as soon as I get the car back from the glass ppl. This happened outside the Civic Video at the Adamstown shops. I always thought it was pretty safe there to be honest. I've lived in Adamstown my whole life and parked my Skyline there for years now.

Multiple things that added up to 2K. Things like prescription sunglasses (I suppose the thief could go an get the lenses changed to sell haha), a locked out mobile phone (does anyone NOT permanently bar the phone and cancel the credit on it? Why do they still steal them?), a camera that needs a special charger and connector that cannot be bought in Australia (that was the big one) and a few other things. Nothing particularly interesting, but they're all useless to the thief and useful to me.
