  1. I suppose it does make sense that if you're increasing the stroke it wouldn't be as easy to rev as hard. Also, you aren't really increasing the volume of the engine that much % wise once you are adding only a few tenths of a litre. How did the GTR respond to the reduced capacity? I think it was Nismo that reduced the capacity of a VH45DE to 3.5L and it revved like an F1 car. Your GTR already is a very revvy machine, so it must have been even better at 2.4L. If I remember correctly, you were having trouble shifting at very high revs at some point (my memory is bad, sorry). Did it make shifting harder?
  2. Very nice. BTW please don't post any more pics of your car, it's just making me jealous.
  3. PVA, it doesn't have to be a 25GT-X. You can just get a plain 25GT Four. The X really just denotes extra options. No turbo AWD ones unless you count the Stagea (apart from GTR of course )
  4. While we're kind of on the topic, what's the biggest RB engine you could make? e.g. RB30 block, RB26 head etc - no idea what crank and other parts you'd need, but roughly how big could you make one. I realise it would totally change the nature of the engine if it was 3.5L or so, but I'm just kind of curious.
  5. That's awesome. I've always liked the VU, but I didn't like either of the engines available for it.
  6. I think he means he won't be getting any. I know if I had a really cheap car I wouldn't bother. CTP is assumed of course.
  7. omg. That's horrible. What do you guys think of the C6 vettes btw? I love them. Hopefully the LS2 fixes the oil/piston slap issues with the LS1, cos apart from that, the LS engines are absolutely awesome. Even better in a light body like a Corvette.
  8. My C's shifter DEFINITELY came in a marked box. I can take some pics of it if ppl want. No problems with it either. Then again, I don't shift too quickly anyway
  9. They dropped the RB20E for the R34s and made the base model a RB20DE, but the 33 definitely had it. This particular example looks terrible anyway. Even if I was in the market for a non turbo Skyline, 120,000 Yen is far too much for this sticker covered and crash damaged car. I wonder how it sold for so much?
  10. I have an unhealthy hatred for all Hondas, but that looks awesome - I'd buy one for sure if I had the money. I'd just get rid of the "ATTACK" word from the back.
  11. Damn, I might have to wait until the end of the year then. Maybe even until next year so there's some competition to lower the compliance cost.
  12. Actually I think they use (MON + RON) / 2, don't they?
  13. Pooski, with a nice clean launch, I can see you getting that down to 13.6 or even lower.
  14. I've seen an absolutely dead stock 94 R33 - not even an exhaust - do a 14.2. If I can find the video I'll post it. Don't hold your breath though, as I tend to lose mpegs every time I format my machine.
  15. How on earth do they get 330kw out of a NA 4.2L 6 cyl engine?!?! Compares pretty well to Ford's new DOHC 4L 6 at 182kw (which I was already damn impressed with)! In fact it's pretty good against their turbo version too. Here's a question though, a lot of companies like Maserati have these low capacity (4L or so) V8s that produce roughly the same level of power. Is it just as easy to get this power out of a 6 cylinder engine?
  16. DJ, What's wrong with the apartments in town? I've been wanting to move in there for ages!
  17. Just thought I'd check up on this thread. Chris should be in Oz now (5th Feb he arrived I think it said). I haven't been on a cruise in a while. Are there any Newcastle / Sydney / Central Coast cruises happening some time soon? If not, I could just drive him to Sydney and I'll go on a cruise from there, cos there's always Syd cruises on. I don't really know my way around Sydney though, so I'd probably get lost There's always Sunday at the Newcastle foreshore too.
  18. I had my VCT plug out and dyno'd my car. 120rwkw. The bottom part of the curve was the same for both runs up until the point where it was supposed to kick in. When plugged in, I got 177rwkw. There is no way that unplugging it gives you more power anywhere in the rev range as far as I am concerned. Are you sure it was that?
  19. You're looking at 64,000 Yen for the pair. Alternatively, you can buy procams for 32,000 Yen each and customise it a little (e.g. 260 in, 270 ex).
  20. ah ok, so then I suppose if they slide (which I take to mean they adjust themselves and aren't locked for efficiency at a single point), then they would be almost as efficient as EFI as they aren't just set to be optimal at a particular rev point. Am I totally off? I've got no knowledge of pre EFI tech at all really
  21. Very nice What side skirts and rear bar have you got on? Also, how's the ground clearance on them compared to the original ones? The more sedans I see, the more I want one myself. Anyone want to buy a nice R33?
  22. Kinda offtopic, but why do brand new motorbikes still use carbies? Surely it can't add much more to the price to chuck an ECU in there. I remember being amazed that my 94 CC Lancer used one, but then I found out that 2003 model Kawasaki 250cc bikes are using them!
  23. I agree with Waz on this, but I have seen a very nice example where one guy converted his 2JZ-GE to a GTE. He didn't do an engine swap, just changed a fair few parts and put on some monster brakes. Not sure about the LSD though. Anyway, you're still better off with the 1JZ if you need the power. The 2JZ-GEs still go quite well though, so I don't think you'll be too disappointed with it if you did go that way.
  24. I personally wouldn't go above 0.7 or 0.8 bar on the stock turbo / stock intercooler combo for the street. I run 1.0 bar now with a FMIC but that is only for short burts. No problems whatsoever. Basically, take Sydneykid's advice
