  1. Sounds like they probably stole the first skyline, and were after another one maybe. Bastards.
  2. I'll take a TVR Tuscan. Those cars are sweet. I wouldn't say no to any of the others though
  3. That would explain it As Steve said, it looks like a real weapon now. I'd be VERY happy with your results. Also having it tuned properly means it's more reliable, which is the most important thing I think (I say this knowing that my car probably isn't too reliable - 1 bar on the stock turbo )
  4. Great result. One question though, if it could make that peak on the stock computer and lower boost, why couldn't it make it on the new computer. Was that level of power only possible when the engine was running dangerously lean or something? It just doesn't seem right to me. If anything it should be more since you're running more boost. The only way I can possibly think this could happen is if the level of boost you're running is out of the efficiency range or your intercooler isn't up to challenge - both of which I doubt.
  5. I was the first owner too. I went through Prestige Motorsport. Mine came with a shiteload of gauges and a full 400R bodykit and a steering wheel and bov. That's it though. I wish I didn't get the gauges now...
  6. That's a bargain for the start of 2002, 2fardown. Was your car modified at all when you got it?
  7. All my wiring burnt out and started a fire in mine one day thanks to some VERY VERY dodgy gauge wiring. My advice - don't get one with a ton of aftermarket gauges fitted. Maybe even no aftermarket stereo. The effort on my car was certainly a bad home job, not professionally done. I've heard this is fairly common in Japan. The rest of the car has been perfect. It had 100,000km (apparently )on it at the time I bought it. Goes well and hasn't ever broken down. I paid about $20K for mine 2 years ago (which was cheap at the time), so you might want to do what predator says and pay that bit extra for a good quality one, or go my way and hope it's a quality example.
  8. Now that's a cool name for a car. Certainly beats "Skyline". If Nissan was smarter we'd all be driving Lightburn Zeta GTRs.
  9. Zdenko, have you been in a Lexus lately?
  10. OK, I didn't know that about the WRX, but what about the 240SX? Why did they get both the S13 and S14 Silvias with 2.4L NA engines? People in California replace their KA24DE engines with SR20DETs and still pass the emissions tests, so it's a clean enough engine. I'm not so sure I agree with the V8 beign a maintenance issue. The Ford XR6T doesn't need any cooling down time (oil somehow still circulates around the turbo after the engine is off) and things like fluid levels apply to all performance cars. The NSX is a nice enough car, but the rest of their range is pretty pathetic. A turbo S2000 would be nice though
  11. I didn't mean to lump all yanks together like that, but you do have to admit, that as a whole they are more dismissive of turbocharged cars. Why else would Subaru have waited until the bug eye model to release the WRX there and why is/was a V8 GTR being considered for them? I do find it interesting that they do choose to turbo Hondas though. Of all the Japanese manufacturers, I would choose Honda last as a car to modify. It's much easier to me to start with a turbo'd car.
  12. They still dislike turbos a fair bit. I was talking to a guy yesterday about my car and the first thing he asked was "is it reliable?". Somehow, I think they've had the "turbos are unreliable" myth ingrained in them.
  13. I hate almost all imperial measurements. I do whatever I possibly can to use metric stuff. They just never make sense to me. I always think in kw and bar when it comes to my car. In fact, I probably wouldn't go to a dyno operator that used hp to run their dynos (that's how much I dislike the imperial system). --offtopic rant about the US and the imperial system-- Anyway, right now I'm living in the US dealing with the stupidity of pounds, gallons and ounces on a daily basis. Why they didn't switch when we did is very weird. I think they're just too reluctant to change. One example of this is happening right now. There are people who are getting almost violent about their beloved greenback changing to a red colour on the $20 note (NB this is probably not the majority)! And they are still using paper money - I don't think I want to be around when they go to plastic (if the people even allow them). BTW to any USians - I don't hate the US or anything, the imperial system is just a pet hate of mine
  14. Yeah same here. One day it was wet and I took a bend a little too hard in my Skyline and before I knew it, my car was facing the other way on the road. Now, normally I'm ok with handling the rear end sliding out, but this time it took me totally by surprise. Now, I never drive my car even slightly hard in the wet.
  15. The Power FC won't be able to adjust anything on the AVC-R as it doesn't know it's there. So it could be a Blitz controller for all it knows.
  16. Guys, The Power FC has an optional boost control module. That's all that the article is talking about. Having a totally independent controller wouldn't affect it. Personally, I'd get the boost control module that works with the Power FC, but that's just because I hate having more junk in my car. You see some cars with SAFCs, AVC-Rs, Boost gauges, Turbo timers etc and it's just too much for me. I'd personally like it all integrated into the ECU and I wouldn't even use the hand controller.
  17. I was talking about the corner ones. After reading through it again, it sounds like they're talking about the side ones.
  18. Both mags also have 2 people sitting in the car and a full load of fuel and timing gear usually.
  19. Well I won't argue with those times It sounds like your car is an absolute beast (the vids were nice). Let us all know how the RB transplant goes. BTW which RB is going in?). Mattrix, maybe you could look into the L28ET idea if you don't sell it and buy a Skyline From the looks of RPMZ car, they're certainly no slouch. Can you can just swap the heads and pistons to upgrade the L28E?
  20. Matt, you know you want a Skyline. Sell the Z and step up to a real sports car Those prices look good btw. It does look like it'll be a very expensive excersize if you take the prices of the parts mentioned above into account, though. BTW RPMZ, that is a sweet Z you've got there and a nicely done site (although I can only get it to work in IE). How do you find the 7.3:1 compression ratio? Is your car a lag machine?
  21. hehe, when the R33 came out in Japan, there were apparently a whole lot of cars going in for the orange light treatment on the parkers. They weren't actually used as blinkers, but people wanted the R32 look.
  22. rev210, if a GTS300 is only pulling 14s, then there's something seriously wrong with it, or the driver hasn't got enough experience at the drag strip to know how to get good times. Anyway, these new VY2 Clubbies do look good to me. 285kw is nothing to sneeze at, but if you do your basic mods, you'll be at least even with it, if not slightly in front. Just hope he doesn't modify his, cos then he'll be up around the 330kw territory with a simple exhaust and ECU edit. These aren't exactly light cars, so that's your main advantage, but they can really pump out the power.
  23. The one knob AFCs are essentially useless. I'd say I'm almost 99% sure that's what is making you run rich and causing the smoke. They only allow you to add/remove fuel across the entire rev range, so you cannot fine tune it. So if you are adding 5% fuel at 5000rpm (just as an example), you are also adding that at 1000rpm. Not efficient at all. To be honest, I have no idea why Apexi made it.
  24. The coupe V35 looks mad. I'd buy one in a second if they were cheaper. Same engine as the 350Z. Easy to turbo as there are common parts from the VQ30DET. I'd be very happy with one in my garage.
