Ahh thanks. I was looking at the low end Blitz one a while back but decided on the cheap option. Might have to fix that then.
-
Thanks. I guess the guy I was talking to had nfi then. There must be some other way to get more power without going to a new turbo. I just bought the SAFC so ignition timing is out of the question for me. Are there any other bolt ons I've forgotten to bolt on?

I'm pretty well at where I want to be modswise with my car now and I'm wondering what I should go for next without taking the plunge on a new turbo. I've been told that there's a LOT of power being thrown away by the stock plenum. If so how much are we looking at here. Someone told me a 5-6L replacement would really help. Now since I know nothing about plenums I don't know whether or not this is true at all. It would help feed the cylinders better right? These are my current mods (or I at least have the parts and I'm about to fit / tune them if I get off my arse) FMIC 13psi (needle valve) SAFC HKS Adjustable CAM gear Trust Airinx pod w/ cold air partition Twin 3.5" catback + 1 piece HPC coated dump/front pipe with separate wastegate line. Not sure of power yet, but I'm assuming it'll be between 170rwkw and 180rwkw once I get it all tuned. Does anyone know if a new plenum would benefit me or would I be throwing away money. Cheers, Michael

Yeah they're looking pretty damn good aren't they? I might have to pick one up when I'm all old. I wouldn't worry too much about stock ones, though. The base model XT weighs almost 1800kg or something close (not sure of the XR6T weight) and they've only got 240kw in XR6T trim. Boost them up a bit and chuck a few bolt ons on and then we'll have something to worry about.

So everyone that owns a car and doesn't care about the environment should have no cat then? I feel that we should at least try and prevent as much environmental damage as we can, and if that means using a cat, then we should do it. Choosing to run without a cat for a few kws is just not right in my eyes. -
XEQTOR, Are you ever in Newcastle? I'd swear I've seen you around. I've got a red R33 with 400R kit too btw. Oh, I've also got an airbox you can borrow but it's probably of no use to you since I live in Newy. Cheers, Mic

Maroon Skyline: Anyone respraying or fitting a kit?
dojobi replied to lou15x's topic in New South Wales
Louis, when you get the bar give me a yell, as I had a chat to the spray guys and they said it would definitely be cheaper. No prices though as he said he wants to see the 2 bars (no idea why, it's a pretty standard size I'm sure). Cheers, Michael -
Remember, goon, you can always just buy the 94/95 which still has decent interior and replace the rear lights and middle bit that says 180SX and noone would know.
-
You've seen the results shown around here haven't you? Someone got 45rwhp from a tuned SAFC. That really is quite a fair bit, so if you aren't sure I'd just go with a SAFC. It's just cheaper and provides the bulk of the power that the PowerFC gives you. That said, I'd say the Power FC would probably give you that little bit extra to take you over the 200rwkw mark at 12psi if I use turbomad's and other ppl like Ethan's results as a guide. I have a SAFC which is untuned at the moment, but I'll probably post a thread with my dyno results when I do get it tuned.

It was Exotic exhausts in Brisbane. I'm from Newcastle so I actually had a friend arrange it all, but it was all pretty easy in the end. The quality of the pipe was pretty damn good too. My mechanic who put it in said it was the best he'd seen. Cheers, Michael

I had a 3" front pipe and 3" catback with twin 3.5" tips when I first brought my car in to the country. A couple of months ago I bought an HPC coated front+dump combo pipe with a separate wastegate line. I had to remove the front pipe that came on it, but all I can say is the difference was unbelievable. Boost came on earlier and higher and it just felt so much quicker. Definitely worth it. It only cost me $400 too.

Maroon Skyline: Anyone respraying or fitting a kit?

Actually, would it be cheaper if we did a mass repainting with a few different colours? We'd have to get a lot more ppl I think to make it worthwhile to the painters. -

Sure, as long as you don't mind having your parts painted red -

Fine by me. The more the merrier. Maybe I could get my front bar patched up first and we just do the painting at one place to simplify things. BTW it was Croydon I was thinking of. -

Hey Louis, No, I don't have a regular panel beater, and like you said, I DEFINITELY don't want one. I'll go and get a quote from the place I went to last time for all our parts and I'll ask him how much your part of the quote is worth, and how much mine is. That way we can split the costs fairly. If you know of anyone in Sydney a quote would be good from them too. The bits I need doing are my 400R front bar, which is slightly cracked and my left rear bumper bit which has a small chunk out of it. Both need to be patched up then resprayed maroon/burgundy/wine red, whatever you call it. The colour code is AN0 anyway . The earliest I can get a quote is on Monday. It will definitely be worth it if we do this together as adding extra parts in to get sprayed costs bugger all extra. Cheers, Michael -
Get the 180, you know you want to. We can't both have R33s, although it would look pretty good cruising around. If you do go the Skyline, don't get it in red cos I've got that or white cos it's, well, white.

My mechanic actually cracked my rear and front bumpers, so I'm getting them resprayed quite soon. The only problem is that I live in Newcastle and you're in Sydney. I need to get my Super AFC tuned soon, and I'd like to do it at some place in Silverwater (the name escapes me at the moment), so if you're around there I could drop my parts in to you when I'm down there and we could split the paint costs. When are you looking at doing this? Cheers, Michael -
I found out why my old motor blew up!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Matt, I was looking at a T3/T4 hybrid and realised it was going to cost more than I was willing to pay. There really isn't worth getting under that price range, is there... I guess I'll bite the bullet one day. Cheers, Michael -
yeah I was pretty happy to find out they were a little special.

I love my 33 GTS25t, it's the best car I've ever owned and it certainly has a nice presence on the street. Goes nicely, but not as hard as a GTR though. The GTR is an absolute monster on the road and especially at the lights - I can't think of many cars that would better it. I would say a GTR is more driveable than my GTS (I'll probably get some flak for this) as it has 4WD. This is the GTR's biggest asset to me, and the reason why I'd take that over the R34 GTT. Engine wise - from what other owners have said to me, a GTR doesn't feel like it has insanely lumpy cams or anything like that. It's like a normal car, just a really good one. It would be interesting to hear what others have to say on this, as I haven't been in too many GTRs and haven't actually driven one personally.
-
Damn, that's a hard choice. I've always wanted a GTR and I love R33s, so that's what I'd go for, but a R34 GTT is still a damn nice car - and newer. EDIT: Forgot to answer the question As far as being practical, the GTR is quite easy to live with on a day to day basis from what I've heard. I don't own one, but I know a few people who do, and drive them to work every day.

Did any R33s come with these stock? My 93 GTS25t has got them and they weren't listed on the auction report when I bought it, so I didn't even know about them until I got the car. I was told later they were a nismo part that you had to buy aftermarket, but I've seen a fair few around now and I'm sort of thinking they might have been an option due to how many I've seen and the fact that it wasn't listed on the report. Anyone know? Cheers, Michael

Well as bad as it was, it is always good to know why this sort of stuff happens. BTW are you sure the VG30 turbo can handle that much boost for a long time? I mean, you might have been really straining it and it's on its last legs now (I hope it isn't for your sake ). Either way, was it efficient at that pressure? What's the A/R? I'm thinking I might have to get one for my R33 if they can hold this sort of boost and be efficient. They aren't particularly expensive are they? Cheers, Michael
