  1. I'm not so sure the turbo is the reason it makes 206kW, Joel. They've got cams with more lift (from memory) and continuous VVT as opposed to the stepped VVT on the R33. Having said that, I have no idea whether the turbo was actually changed . I just reckon there are enough differences to explain the extra power.
  2. The $800 was not mates rates. I had it done by Cranes Auto Electrics in Newcastle. I have no idea how long it took him or whether he changed ALL the wires (as far as I can see they're all new). It was such a professional job, that it looked like factory wiring. That $800 also included putting my MP3 player connector on btw.
  3. I'll second the HKS 2835 Pro S comment. From all the dyno graphs I've seen, it seems to have the best lag/top end power ratio of any turbo I've seen.
  4. I had some wiring in my car burn out too. The electrician had to rewire a fair bit of the car. It ended up costing me around $800. Now it's better than ever, as the original Japanese owner had some dodgy wiring going on (to support his aftermarket gauge addiction). Best money I spent on my car.
  5. Skyline Model: R33 GTS25t Age: 24 Race: Caucasian Occupation: Programmer / Web Developer
  6. How did the accident happen? Was this in the R33? EDIT: Oh and comprehensive was my answer to the poll
  7. Funky, are you sure they're different enough structurally? Isn't it just a wagon version of the sedan? I was seriously considering this myself a while back, but then I read this in the SEVS Register Application info: 2.2.6 The following variations by themselves, DO NOT constitute a different Model: (a) trim or optional specification variations; (B) body variants, such as Sedan, Hatchback, Station-Wagon or Single and Double Cab, or with Sleeper-Cab, of the same basic Model; © wheelbase or wheeltrack variations; (d) goods carrying bodies, plant and/or equipment added to a vehicle, usually a chassis-cab that has minimal effect on ADR compliance; (e) variations in profile being a result of the addition, or modification of Air Dams, Skirts, Spoilers, Wheel-Arches and similar; (f) different engines and/or transmissions, including petrol or diesel, manual or automatic, or 2WD, 4WD or AWD, turbo-charged, supercharged, variations of fuel injection technique (eg GDI) or Traction control. Personally, I reckon that rulings b and f suck, cos I'd love an IS300 wagon with 4WD.
  8. It depends on the year. 08/93 - 01/95 (series 1): 1380kg 01/95+ (series 1.5 and 2): 1390kg Either way, it's a hell of a lot lower than they say.
  9. Don't get me wrong - I'd love pretty much all the high performance German cars, but there's something I just love about turbos - and Mercedes can't offer that to me. Porsche and Audi on the other hand...
  10. Yeah? I can't find it, but I'll keep searching. Sounds like exactly what I want. The German cars are good, but I'll take Japanese turbo luxury any day EDIT: found it - I was looking in the dealer cars. I sooo want it
  11. That LARS K one looks damn nice, but I certainly wouldn't be paying that much money for a SOHC engine. I haven't been in one, but I do hear they go quite nicely. I'd still take the R34 though. Kind of off topic, but it involves luxury cars. My dream car is a Toyota Aristo V300 Vertex Edition (Lexus GS300 with a VVTi 2JZ-GTE). I was considering buying a locally delivered GS300 and dropping the V300 engine in, but it was a bit out of my price range. It's not a coupe though, so it's not really what you're after. I'm not too sure why I even mentioned it
  12. A V8 option would be nice, but since it's Holden, it would be the LS1 or LS2. Not my cup of tea - especially when there's a 3.6L TT V6 available. I think it would become like the BOSS engine for the Falcon - the 4.0 turbo engine is simply better all round. Ford had to offer that in their Falcon range because people expect a V8. In a "new" model like the Torana, they could just make it a 6 cylinder platform.
  13. One more http://www.mellor.net/mellor/enews.nsf/edi...to_enews258.pdf
  14. http://www.gminsidenews.com/forum/index.ph...f=7&t=8298&st=0 Check this out ppl.
  15. Now that's nice. A TT HFV6 in a great looking car that isn't tank sized. Where do I sign up Up until recently, I really disliked the local offerings. Pushrods and SOHC with no proper VVT were the best you could get. Pathetic for this day and age really. Now they actually make something worth buying. It looks like the Aussie car industry is finally getting its act together.
  16. I'd say most R33s on our roads today were brought in before the new scheme, so RB20E powered ones should be available. You've got to wonder why anyone would comply them though. There'd be no money in it.
  17. Nice. Is the C34 engine more like the R33 or R34 RB25? ie is it a Neo engine?
  18. Kind of unrelated, but why aren't there more KKs around? Everyone likes them, yet it seems to be limited to Sydney (and even then I only know of the Mascot and City ones).
  19. You're about 2 years too late, Wilso
  20. Probably not what you're after, but I'd love to see my car painted. So I'll post it up anyway
  21. There's also Wicked Exhaust at Wickham who are pretty good, apparently. They're right near Honeysuckle. Here's some info I just googled for you - Wicked Exhaust 202 Hannell Street Wickham NSW 2293 Phone: (02) 4969 3884
  22. I lived in Boston last year and saw those Impalas everywhere. They certainly have the R34 lights going on at the back there. When I told people I drove a Skyline they either had no idea what it was or were totally in awe. When asked about it (by the knowledgeable ones), I'd just say it was an R33 Skyline and most of them assumed it was a GTR. Of course, I kept quiet about the fact that it wasn't
  23. Actually they came out in December 98 in Japan - that's why we can bring in models up until 08/2000 (when it was released here). http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/007-00.htm No idea when a RAW is going to do get some evidence together and be able to comply them though.
  24. I'm 99% sure the Trust Airinx is a non-oiled pod filter. In fact, I remember when I was researching which pod to get, that was one of the reasons I chose it. Maybe they changed it or I REALLY stuffed up and never oiled it
  25. I haven't used any dynos in Newcastle actually. I had my car tuned once in Sydney. I'll get my next one tuned here though. I'm not sure who I'll use.
