  1. If anyone has some that they want to offload let me know as I want to upgrade the brakes on my V35 Cheers Stuart
  2. Fair enough, I would have liked to have gone brembo all round but Im not having any luck finding anyone local whos offering a set or anyone in the states willing to post to aus Might have to check out one of those web sites that acts as a broker as far as buying stuff over in the states and sending it over to australia
  3. Oh also I had some povo RDA slotted rotors fitted today as I was getting concered about the noise coming from the cracked rotor even when I was braking lightly. When I picked up the car I was told that my inner controll arm bushes were worn and needed to be replaced. I will be getting camber arms within the next 4 weeks, Im guessing that the new camber arms will replace the Control arm bushes as the camber arm is the control arm?
  4. Got to print out a template 2morow to see if the e-bay kit I found will fit my rims Ill also do the template from that link you posted for the Akebono and see if they fit price wise im going to be up for $1195 + the $395 postage... if I just go the fronts with blanks The Akebono also use dog bones as well?
  5. Hey pete where did you see this Akebono kit? Oh I also asked about the replacement rotors/pads and got this reply "The rotors are for the 350Z with Brembo Track brakes (324mm). The pad "D" number is D41. We've been supplying Wilwood pads for the past 23 years. Pads are also available at most online high performance distributors like Jegs and Summit. Outside of the Wilwood pads, there are probably 10 other friction companies making pads for Wilwood calipers including Raybestos, Performance Friction, Porterfield, EBC, Padgit, Hawk, Ferodo, Carbotech, Finishline etc... There are literally hundreds of choices. Street pads are around $65 / axle set from us. We can ship pads for $18 in future if you like."
  6. WTF are dog bones? Sorry never heard that term used before "A lot of kits around (including some of the Wilwood kits) used their entry level cheap calipers. While they may look good in a picture (big and shiny), it is all the specifications of them that must be looked at" To quote you directly "it is all the specifications of them that must be looked at" So lets compare them to my poverty spec single piston OEM nissan brakes? The kit ROTORS, 323mm diameter, 30mm thick curved vane directional, cross drilled "not a fan of cross drilled but for the price cant complain" 4 Piston caliper OEM Rotors, 296mm diameter, 24mm thick Single piston caliper As you can see spec wise this is quite an upgrade on my OEM brakes, cant see how these would not be as good if not better than the factory brembos on the 6 speed V35s/350Z
  7. Came across this on the net Big Brake Kit 350Z, G35 RACE 13" 4 piston Wilwood calipers Would seem everything needed comes in the kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380275147966&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en If the postage cost is right then it would be about $1069 to Australia + im guessing another 10% as customs dutys? = $1175ish? Given that a 2nd hand pair of brembos front and rear can go for close to 2k without discs..... Problem of course is that unlike the brembos people are going to notice that these things arent stock.. which makes me wonder about mod plates/defects/insurance Any ideas from you guys?
  8. Dont think ill have any issed with the track rims which are pictured in my avatar being +20 9.5 x 18, have tons of room. The 19"s that I use on the street have a bit of room might have to measure up and see also what have you guys done as far as mod plates/rta?
  9. Im based in Palm Beach at the moment, Iv seen a blue 350GT around Tweed City shopping centre a couple of times
  10. Hi guys after cracking one of my front rotors on Wednesday at the sprints I pondered the idea of ditching my poverty spec single piston nissan brakes and upgrading to some R33 GTST ones which I can pick up a set discs pads callipers etc for under $400 I figured it was going to cost me close to $400 to get a pair of new rotors to replace the one that cracked Spec wise my poverty spec front discs are 296 x24 R33 GTST front discs are 296 x 30 So the discs are pretty much the same size just thicker which should handel more heat + 4 pots are always better than 1! I have no idea if this is going to be a simple plug and play job or if its going to be a total pain in the ass I also dont know about the rears as from what I remember when it came to my 180sx there was something strange about how the handbrake worked which made it a pain in the ass to hook them up. Dont know if the V35 is going to be any different The other thing that I am concerned about is will QLD transport allow me to put on older brakes on a newer car even though they are better than the ones that my car came with?
  11. if its going to take 6 weeks I may have to give the front discs a miss as I need to change them ASAP before the cracked one explodes on me..... I am still keen for the braided lines however
  12. I had some small surface cracks showing on the disc which arent a problem. However when the crack goes to the edge of the disc thats when its time to panic and get it changed ASAP! My rear rotors and pads are fine "the front dose 80% of the work anyway." What would I be looking @ to get some front rotors? bare in mind that mine will be different to yours being poverty spec non brembo I may as well get the braided lines to Has Just jap sorted out the hard racing camber arms yet? Id be keen to get those on the car before the next track day I allways think its good to take your car out as it is to set a benchmark. That way you can see that spending $$$$ on whatever shaved X seconds off your lap time which dosent make you feel as bad about spending the $$$$
  13. Hey guys well seems none of you were able to make it today... Ill post up details of when the next one is so you all have more time to sort out work/ your cars More PBs today Got my Sprint time down to a 102.02 and probally would have gone faster in the 2nd session if it wasent for the fact that the owner of a supercharged 350Z asked if I would like to drive his car in the 2nd session which was an offer I could not refuse. Funny enough I did a faster time in my V35 than the supercharged Z but still managed to do a quicker time than its owner pulling a 102.89 over its owners 103.58 After driving the Z I so need to do an upgrade on my brakes... The Z was running brembos but with different discs, pads and braided lines. They just kept working weather it be the 1st lap or the last, unlinke my POS single piston calipers with slotted discs that one of them later cracked later on in the day. I changed pads to some QFM pads that were supposed to be as good as the Ferodo DS2500 however it felt like I was mashing my foot into a sponge by the 3rd lap! Clubman time was a PB of 105.18 which was quicker than a BMW M3 coupe
  14. As per topic Wednesday 23/2/11
  15. Sprint Check In 11.00am - Briefing 12.00pm - On Track 12.30pm As for laps, Wednesday sprints are usually less busy than Saturday sprints You normally get 5 hot laps there is also 1 warm up lap and 1 cool down lap in each session Each group will normally get 4 sessions 3 timed ones and 1 un-timed one where you can take a passenger out Yes you can take out your regular daily rims/rubber I did the 1st 4 times on those exact same sizes before I decided to take the plunge and buy some track rims/rubber entry form can be found here just make sure that you pay up before mondy to avoid the late fee\ http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/pdf/e_2011%20MS.pdf
  16. Hey guys Just letting you all know that there will be an afternoon sprint session @ Queensland Raceway next Wednesday on the 23rd If you have ever wanted to drive your car fast without the worries of getting a speeding ticket then you should come! Costs are as follows Entries $135.00 Late Entry Penalty $100.00 Annual AASA Clubman Licence $55.00 AASA Clubman Day Licence $20.00 Licence Application form must be attached Helmet Hire (Deposit Required) $5.00 The Sprints are pretty safe! Your basicaly aiming for the best lap time you can do! For those of you who dont know this is nothing like touring car racing, all cars have a gap between them with the idea being to let the faster car go past you Would be good to see some other V35s out there other than my own! Im interested to see what times those of you in 6 speeds would pull
  17. Grrr after scouring the interweb it would seem that I may have a small leak in my rack and pinion :S Might see if a PS fluid flush + some stop leak can tide me over
  18. Hi guys Couple days ago I dropped my keys and as I bent down to pick them up I noticed some grease was leaking near the drivers side steering boot I jacked the car up today to have a good look at it to see if the boot had split The boots seems fine I cant see or feel any split in it, however if I give it a light squeeze it feels as if there is nothing but air in there. Not sure if its supposed to be packed with grease or just empty On closer inspection it seems that the thick grease is coming from the area where the steering shaft goes into part of the power steering system... my best guess as to what part of the car its happening around I have posted a pic which will show exactly what Im talking about IMG_0268.JPG The 2nd pic img_0271 is of the passenger side boot I checked the passenger side boot as well which also seems to be fine, however I noticed some residue where it ends and connects to the rest of the car
  19. Kudos for posting up the guide!
  20. Sweet going to have to do this to my drivers side as it decided to die a few days ago
  21. Oh so sedans don't have a switch? Well that sucks balls indeed
