um since we are talking induction here, what effect does changing the stock (plastic or rubber or whatever it is) intake pipe that runs from the air filter to the turbo to a metal one. Are there any real adavtanges that make the change worth it?

R33 - wtf is that thing
Fly_With_Sky replied to CONRAD's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i agree that the idea was probably for coins but i dont think anyone tested to see whether they'd stay in there as they always seem to fall out too easily as i have tried a few times and then gave up straight away i think my mums toyota corolla has one of those things too if i remember correctly -
ive seen one with the nissan neo straight 6 and turbo in red but with the '2500 twin cam24valve in silver...but i have also seen one with all the writing in red and yeh i thought the series 2 r34's started in late 2000 or jan 2001??

Help me! Getting bored of my Skyline
Fly_With_Sky replied to Scotty's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If your bored with your GTST then that means its time for a GTR :aroused: being serious now if your car is way too low then i concur that it should be raised to a neater looking lower than stock position as i think the stock height is a little to high. and yes spend a little on some mods as if all you have is an exhuast then there is so much potental to unlock. And, then put some nice wheels on your baby and then ring up a girl and say, You: "hey baby hows about i take you out to dinner tonight, ill pick you up in my skyline" Her: "ooo, a skyline" You: "yeah baby, i fixed her up just for you" then its :inlove: -
im not sure if it was legend of speed but once on world movies (just after fast and furious 1 came out) i saw a japanese street racing movie and it wasnt too bad. I think the bad guys were driving wrx sti's and i think the good guy street racer was driving an evo 6 plus he had a few other cars coz he was some rich bloke...i think he had a gtr on a hoist in his gargage but dont think he raced in it Now for fast n furious, the lead cars were always top jap cars (evo, supra, rx7, and of course the good ol r34 gtr) but that eclipse thing is terrible, and, they have to stop using nos so damn much For the fast and furious 2 dvd i love prequel thing showing how paul walker buys his r34 gtr from the car yard and then takes it miami racing a ferrari 360 along the way

if all your looking for is to get a sound when changing gears or when taking your foot off the accelerator there is no need to replace the factory bov (unless its leaking). All you need to do is get a pod filter as when you take you foot off the pedal all the air goes out the pod and you get a pssssh sound. Niss_Fan with your monza bov does it flutter under low rpms and make its other sound at high rpms? Also, cant you just take off the round trumpet thing on that bov and screw on the longer pipe piece so as to to plump it back (as is my knowledge of this valve)

i will never stop crying if the GT-R looks like that, its just so depressing that a skyline, no sorry scrap that, a GTR will end up looking like that. I really hope these exterior changes Rezz mentioned are a complete bloody overhaul to make it look tough so it strikes fear in fellow drivers (like the r32-34's did). And for goodness sakes dont you people feel we need round stove top tail lights. I mean that should be the first thing that comes to mind when designing a GTR or skyline. All this fantastic technology ( great sounding engine package, 4wd system or whatever i remember reading) will be wasted imo on a car looking simiilar to V35. I know you get used to the v35 styling over time but it just doesnt capture and absrob you like previous models...

sublime is all i can say about it i would kiss the ground that the tyres rolled over, it is amazing how nice this thing is
-
Yes - but where there are RB31DETTs, there are also 3.4l 2JZGTEs.... :box:
-
but everyone hungers for a GTR (at least at some point in their lives. Those that dont have no idea what a great car is)
-
Well SK knows what he is talking about so i wouldnt be the one to go against him. Having said that i like the supra's and i know prefectly well that they are rockets with a big 3 litre TT engine they have. (The N/A's are pretty impressive as well i reckon). If i had a great deal of money and dont mind spending it on cars for the hell of it i would get one, but the skylines didnt get called Godzilla for nothing did they... plus look at the r34 GTRs, i mean what car comes with lap timers unless they are there to mean business... Also, I love skylines and thats why i got my r33 as i prefer them more, and in a few years when my bank account is loking very healthy i would love to get a R34 GTR v-spec II ( or a NUR if i can) as they in my opinion are the sh*t.

thanks for the tip, i think i'll be putting the stockers back on. Will post up my results as it will be my first time at the drags :jump:
-
Ive got 18s on my R33 so would you be suggesting that when i go to the drags (as i am planning to go to WSID soon) that i put the stock 16s back on? Wouldnt they reduce my grip level though when im taking off? What would you reckon is my best course of action here 2rismo?
-
yeh my bro's got one of the AUS delivered fwd U13 Bluebird's and i reckon its a pretty good car. The 2.4litre engine it has seems pretty good and its acceleration isnt too bad either. So far it has been a good reliable car. So the turbo, 4WD ones should be a good car as well with a good performer of a motor with the SR20DET.
-
my advice is go get it checked out so u know exactly what the problem is so u dont go wasting money on changing what you think the problem is.
-
i think people are forgetting that the driver has one of the biggest parts to play in racing whether it be proper drag racing on a strip or the traffic lights drag (where people always exaggerate or complain that something wasn't right). Some people take their cars to the limit and know what to do and when and some are cautious...
-
well to be safe if u do ever change the operating systems of the car, in your case increasing the boost hence increasing air flow, then it would be safe to get it on the dyno and make sure everything is running peachy.

Look at this import R33 GTR
Fly_With_Sky replied to Lepperfish's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
This car is probably a big bargain. The interior looks great, which brings me think about the comment on the interior possibly being replaced. Nowm if that did happen why would they do that and forget to throw a bit if black paint over the plenum and spice up the engine bay?? Therefore, for $29000 you get a r33 GTR which you find around here for pricing starting some 10K dearer than this GTR. So as penate said there should be money on hand in case somehting terrible were to happen. Also, you would think that you would have done compression tests and whatnot just to be certain before buying. -
i wasnt referring to any people who have chromed a car i was referring to the new all aluminium (or whateva it is) jaguar. Jaguar claims it is 40% lighter allowing for better acceleration and so on and so forth...

they all became health conscious and decided to stop eating donuts

i havent seen one of those jags around the streets yet, but want to...isnt it like almost half the weight of a normal jag car. it would suck when the sun hits it and blinds you when it goes past

Saw a GTR badge on a VL last night.
Fly_With_Sky replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i know of a dude who has rb26 in a vl, dont know whether the attesa system is also operating in it. but to put a GTR badge on a vl, thats just terrible, some people are just disturbed i guess. Next to be put on may be an 'xr6 turbo' badge for that bloke. -
yeh just as i was thinkin, thanks mate... so i suppose by putting it on 10psi and giving it a good tune then it would be just as good if not better than having it on 11-12psi... sydneykid want to confirm this for me and make up my mind on keeping it at 10psi on stock turbo and ecu
-
just curious would there be any real difference between boosting your r33 to 11psi and tune it when compared to 10psi and tune it? other mods are full exhaust, filter, fmic, boost ccontroller. my car is about to go in for it to be tuned and am wondering is there any great difference between 10 and 11psi, or would both get the basically the same power give or take a couple kw...
-
but once ur pushing around 200rwkw u would be at the end of the stock turbo's capability i thiink yes? my mates s14a has the mods mentioned in this thread and is boosted to only 12psi and i would think with a correct launch a 13 flat or there abouts would be possible as the thing really gets going when it comes onto boost. The advantage of having a 150kg odd lighter car i suppose when comparing to a skyline
