just had a major service done but my mechanic said told me the timing belt had already been changed. Woohoo, saved myself some dollars...

hey guys, i was wondering what the air/fuel ratio should be for an r33gtst when on idle? How lean should it be (or how rich)? Also whats the best type of fuel cut defender as i would like to put a higher boost setting on my dual sbc but when it was set at 10psi fuel cut kicked in. Is there anything dogdy with things like the turbosmart fcd's or should i go with ones like hks??

ok well you are aware that the aftermarket ecu's for the gts25t's dont work with the auto computer properly (by properly i mean gear changes may be harsh and hold gears differently as the gear logic of whatever it is from the auto computer isnt compatible with the aftermarket ecu) but it has been done and people that have done it just say that it changes gears a little harder but otherwise works fine. However, gearbox longevity was a concern by some (namely sydney kid). Maybe an safc might be an option and the expense of the timing. Anyway, after you put in your fuel pump, when its time for the turbo and fuel rail kit i suggest that you save a little bit more so you can get the auto shift kit (with bigger tranny cooler) as well, as the std gearbox on its own might not be able to cope with the power the new turbo will be making. Good luck with it all, and let us know how it all turns out...

it will fit, or can be easily made to fit. The only problem you might encounter is if the oil cooler, that comes standard on the auto's to protect the tranny, has its lines going all over the place where the intercooler would sit, but this can be an easy fix if this is the case for some reason. I have the same cooler from nengen and fittted it to my auto r33 and its perfect. Mechanic thought the oil cooler 'might' get in the way, but it didnt so all was well. i though the engine bay was the same, with the only differnece being the oil cooler...

yes my front wipers have some of the paint peeling off too... aren't the wipers supercheap and autobahn sell some plastic ones instead of the factory metal? I'd rather keep my metal ones as i dont want the plastic (although might save me 0.2kg hehe)

i was wondering the same thing actually...benm said they are good for 300bhp or approx 180rwkw when this thread was started way back in the day... i originally thought it was closer to 200rwkw or thereabouts many go over 180rwkw with the stock gtst pump and still get enough fuel...Could people with experience in this matter please confirm for me as currently with the 180rwkw fuel pump limit it means i will be close to or on the limit next week when it gets tuned for some more power. Just wondering if i should start thinking new fuel pump??

S-AFC2 tuned...but now I stall...
Fly_With_Sky replied to CerealKiller's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes seems very odd indeed thats its stalling especially when its supposed to prevent afm cars stalling, was it tuned on the same fuel that you just filled up on? agree with silver, call up uas and see if they can figure out why its stalling... -
i have a 4inch dump on my r33gtst which goes into a 3inch high flow cat then is 3.5inch all the way back from there...flows beautifully but i would think 3inch everything for your car would be quite sufficient as for price on 4inch dump pipe i dont know exactly, lets just say it helps to know people...

i feel the same as you on this Kel As for the riots, the cops should get a fire truck full of capsicum spary and let loose on all the idiots braking the law by throwing molotov ****tails and bricks and whatever else they can find at the police. To hell with the civil liberties in this case. Also bloody john brogden is pissing me off with some of his comments (even though in fed elections i like liberals as i think Costello knows what he is doing when it comes to the economy) because i believe he wouldnt have a bloody clue what to do if he were premier.

why defend it for, we all know its a beautiful car and we all love to see such a beautiful car run down wsid under 12secs...and look and sound so damn good while doing it. My point being nobody was saying anything negative about the car, we were wondering if it was stock (as in stock from factory) or what type of mild mods were on it making it a fairly stock car. If i were to say its ugly, its slow blah blah then defend it if you like, but why o why would we say bad things here at SAU about any skyline really (especially a gtr) And what has blitz said exactly (as far as i know i assume it really isnt in his character to say bad things about you). Furthermore, why say the car is bad, what has BY BY done to you, it cant talk (well it can actually, in a sweet and sexy rb26dett tone), anyone with half a brain knows the car is very nice. U have some issue with him and are acting very childish by saying lets race in order to solve it!

unbelieveable...they got out and tried hitting you because you were doing the speedlimit!!! i hope you got the number plates and reported them...bastards bizzrevhead, just in the wrong place at the wrong time as the drunk cowards tried to impress each other by throwing things at other people's property...if they yell something out you can just shake your head and have a little laugh but throwing beer bottles is ridiculous...just say if a window was open and the bottle whacked your gf knockin her out, i would put it past a bf to go out there and beat the guy into a coma or something even though we should all consider ourselves as lovers not fighters

very sad news for you, just after the wsid mishap...hope you get her back these car thiefs, i swear they should cut their hands off when they get caught. Hope it was all insured at least...

Greddy vs ARC vs Hybrid Intercooler Kit
Fly_With_Sky replied to eXc's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i think if you go the second hand route, why not pay a bit more and get a gtr cooler. At any power level it will be many many times better than the gtt cooler... -
hey guys, when i got my r33 a while ago it came with a mini disc head unit. Its a sony MDX-C800REC fm/am minidisc recorder (works with a tv as well as the car once had a tv in it). It also says 'wide bit stream md/cd changer control.' Anyway, i am wondering if minidisc's are ever goin to take off here? the unit is in great condition and wonder if i could ever sell it as people may have no use for it here as i sure dont have any use for it...if so how much would these things go for when new so i have some sort of idea so i can then take into account depreciation...

yeh thats what i was referring to benm those 3 exactly. Wonder how it would affect my car before i am de-flowered by wsid for the first time next month...maybe i'll leave to jack and space saver in for the first time.
-
sorry to hear Eav00l, at least your ok, good luck with it. Were you driving the car at the time? Would of made me crap all the colours of the rainbow if my bonnet flew up at those speeds... what did the guy mean in the r34 about it being all std? Did he mean to say std turbos still? Good to see it roaring down the track though...
-
it seems that speeding was once again the culprit here, how else would something like this happen at a roundabout... is it really that bad to slow down to a stop or crawl at roundabouts so you can see if it safe to go, another 3 seconds it takes, thats all...
-
thanks for that benm, another words no need to go through the water for me. However, i am also curious as to how big a burnout you did on the nitto's, as i thought they require a good burnout to get hot enough? and what tyre pressure did you use with the nitto's? also, do u guys take out the space saver and other little bits in the boot before you run? How much of a difference would 15 odd kg make?

Greddy vs ARC vs Hybrid Intercooler Kit
Fly_With_Sky replied to eXc's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the greedy v-spl will more than suit what your looking for. Personally, i'd go the jap brand but thats just me as i like the reassurance of knowing i have a japanese intercooler on a japanese car by a respected aftermarket parts company. (they would obviously know what they are doing when making parts). Price is great if you buy from nengun. I have one of these and it is great. I cant really comment on the hybrid coolers too much except to say some people say they stink, others say you get what you pay for but then there are many people who use them and they work very well. A friend if mine with an s14a has one on his car and it sees 190rwkw and it works a treat. Maybe ask your mechanic as well before you make a decision... -
lowering & raising vehicle height
Fly_With_Sky replied to Fly_With_Sky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it isnt significantly lower at the front but yeh it is slightly lower (weight of engine i suppose). Not that bad, maybe the reason is more to give the front bar more clearance...i just think about it every now and then There isnt really any oversteer problems unless you put the foot down i suppose, but i do recall feeling the front understeer once when i was too lazy to brake a little bit more when turning at an intersection. wasnt bad as it was easily corrected but could feel it understeering. Apart from that the rubber grips the road well i think...only complaint is that it gets too damn bumpy... but yeh with my original question i just dont really like the look of cars when the front is high and the rear is dumped, just doesnt sit with me like a car an even lowered look. Funny thing is when parking next to the car it looks like an even height but when i stand up and look at the car from the side from a few metres the front is slightly lower... -
My Results First Time at Runs
Fly_With_Sky replied to KRiMiNaL's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hey well done, i no genius on the matter here but with that 60ft time you had maybe a 12.8-12.9 was on the cards -
hey benm i read in the other thread on your times...give the nitto's some more try's and then maybe start thinking of another hobby... anyway, when referring to the stickiness of the strip and street tyres, i didnt think it would be of any benefit if you dropped the psi on them closer to 20psi rather than say the usual 36psi?? am i wrong? also cant you just go around the water as i remember seeing some cars doing big turns trying to avoid something (which would have been the water), so your tyres are dry and have no need for a burnout as they are street tyres??
-
hi guys, was contemplating on whether i should raise my car a bit. It is currently lowered 2inches front and back. I was only thinking of getting new springs for the front (raise 0.5-1 inch). Lowered springs only, rest of suspension is stock. however, i wonder does this cause any problems? or would be bad in any way as the back would be lowered 2 inches and the front 1 to 1.5 inches... its just that the back sits perfectly just above the tyre however the front sits right on the tyre and would like the front just above the tyre as well as giving the front bar a bit more distance between it and the ground.

congrats on the purchase, may provide you with many, many days of driving bliss... i remember the first day i got mine, considered sleeping in it that night (well maybe i just didnt want to get out of it right away after parking it in the garage)
