PhoenixGSR replied to Belsil80's topic in Archived Events
Hey Ryan, I sent an email on the 31st October, confirming I was out. Embarrassingly I had double booked that weekend, as my best mate's has his wedding on the same day, and invites were sent 3 months ago, to which I'd RSVP'd my attendance and then stupid me, getting all excited and shit cause my MelbS15 brethren will be there in force agreed to enter, and yeah, stupid Sorry for stuff around. -

So, if you have a bracket as in the first picture, but it has a metal band clip. It's okay right? so long as it's bolted and not cable tied, self tapered screws etc. -

*tips hat to you* Very inspirational thread. And I'm so glad that a grassroots theory and practise approach is working so well for you! Can't wait to see you attack Sydney Motorsports Park in October! I'll be there to cheer you on. Sad you couldn't make it to the MelbS15 track day, heard you had diff problems Anyways, I'm sure we will hit the track again soon! Sadly I wont be able to pose any serious competition for you lol. You are very lucky to have a great team of family and friends to make your racing project a reality!!!

Dunno if this is the right section, sorry guys, anyhoo. A mechanic postition is now available at the Eastside branch in Mitcham. Would prefer a mechanic with 1-2 years job experience, fully qualified or still an apprentice does not matter, so long as they can demonstrate practical know-how and experience. Send me a PM on here, give me a call on 0403 532 824, or send a resume to [email protected] Regards, Manny

Dude, a FWD is only more dangerous when it has a lot of power to induce too much torque steer or at speed (even then it's contentious). A FWD is actually a proven safer format for normal driving conditions. Please take no offence, do a bit of research and you will see.

I like this idea In seriousness, I have used the Citrus based Cat/Dog repellant and it seems to work, but you need to re apply after a couple weeks. Actually its faily pleasant to the human nose as well.

Totally agree, Ash & Andrew. I've been with many car clubs who always raise this topic and we have never found a solution that meets everyones needs, because in theory all the suggested solutions will work to a smaller extent, however nothing will ever change unless the Government takes a consolidated approach to take lives more seriously than they do money. So, if you dont fix the problem from the top of "management" nothing ever changes. I do believe however that if facilities are made more available or at the very least at a cheaper cost, you will have less dragging and drifting and speeding on the streets. If the government allowed some leniency for cars going to and back from an authorised/regulated/CAMS AASA affiliated event it will also promote "taking it off the streets".

Then I'd just suggest you get a real estate agent to do one, cause they will do it for free. If you tell them you are considering selling.
-
No! And always try to get an assessor that is partially in your best interest. Depending on whether you are loaning, buying, selling different assessors can be used with some degree of bias. ie an Insurance assessor will do a more critical job than a bank assessor because the insurance assessor must find all potential issues that they may have to fork up later on, a real estate assessor depending on whether it's for the sale or the buying of a property will have assessors to either under or over value the property. Comprende?!

Good work Ash & Birds!

Here is a very good article to explain the differences. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/338152-compression-leak-down-testing.html In short engine compression can tell you whether an engine is tired and a leak down test can show you the engines ability to utilise all of it's compression pressure. Compression testers can be cheap, leak down testers are not. If you can't be bothered you can go to my workshop. Chasers Motorworks - Eastside Division in Mitcham.

Sounds like a very good idea. But to be honest I dont think it will ever work, cause IMO there are different agendas from the different groups. They aren't all trying to get the same goal of making the roads safer for the public. Government want MONEY all the time, so the cost of venues etc will not be cheap enough for the thousands of people to take it off the streets, the police seem to want to issue fines and defects more than legitimately target cars that are just plain dangerous, car enthusiasts dont want to be branded as hoons but there doesn't seem to be any real way for the general public to differentiate us so that will never change, also I dont think a self proclaimed "hoon" group would come to voice their opinions, as they know they will look like idiots, so it's basically all us car enthusiasts will be branded as hoons, regardless what we do. Anyways, I applaud you guys for making the effort! Good luck! I totally agree we cant be branded any worse than we are now, so go for it !!

Still a bit bitter I got a defect when I went from Winton Raceway to Benalla and filled up some fuel and headed back to the track. Yes the GT wing is defectable and I was in the wrong, but I know the same police defected heaps of cars the previous weekend that Drift Matsuri was on and shown no leniency for people taking it to the track. So in short, all the guys drifting/tracking drove over 5 hours (round trip) to do the right thing but got petty defects which could be cleared easily. My point is, if we are going to get defected for trying to do the right thing, might as well drive on the street and get done for actually doing the wrong thing.
