  1. Who knows... I think it wouldn't be off much benefit on a turbo, most of the Variable Valve timing engines are NA, sothere is obviously a reason why not alot of turbo's use them (probably more to do with cost than anything else as im pretty sure porche have one??) The later model SR20DET's used VVT, dont know to what capacity... Probably not much help but im bored
  2. Those wheels are for pimp mobiles, not skylines... They would look cool on a lodeo or something equally as stupid, or even better an old cadilac, not on a skyline... dont do it, besides like someone else said, jsut something else to get defected for.
  3. Amen to that. Atleast until you gte used to the characteristics of the car... My plan is to keep it stock for a few months... maybe a stez and wheels in that time, but nothing performance, then a cat back exhaust, the hi-flow cat, dump pipe working my way from outlet to inlet... No need to up the boost too high (if at all) until you have all the cooling sorted... then i'll see if im content, otherwise look internal (enginewise). Somewhere in there if the balance starts to shift toward undriveable, i'll look at a suspension set up...
  4. Nope, coloured personalised are $50 with $130 a year, customised coloured are probably what you say, there is a difference. The white slim lines are $50 plus $100 a year these days as opposed to the $50 + $107 once off they were about 12 months ago... damn RTA
  5. Cheers, i dug this one up haha
  6. G'day all, I'm looking at personalised plates, and am thinking about getting the blue ones (on a white car)... Since the RTA are now screwing us over and making you pay $100 a year for personalised content on the standard white slimline ones i figure for an extra $30, (about 50c a week ) i can get coloured ones with the same thing. What do you guys think of the coloured plates... i reckon blue and white would look pretty nice, i might even get some blue neons down the track (a while down if i decide to go the sow car route), or should i just go with the white ones. Cheers.
  7. Does anyone know where i can get a lip like that, and how does it fit on??? i don't particularly like the sI spoiler, and that looks pretty hot... cheers.
  8. The fact its running 15psi is an issue... unless you have REALLY good cooling. BTW, travelling up the F3, where do you live?
  9. You'd probably have more luck trying a Honda forum or something... I don't know much about Honda's (or any car for that matter but im learning). I'd imagine the body kit in itself would cost $4000+ for a veilside fully fitted and painted, turbo kit would be around $3-4k + installation so theres not much left by the end of it. It's pretty hard to get more performance out of a worked NA 4-cyl... my advice, sell the S2000 and buy an R33 GT-R But that's not what he wants to do obviously. Best chance is going to a honda forum... shouldn't be too hard to find one.
  10. Well funnily enough, i drove a WRX when i was on my p's and it was such a nice car to drive, but it was my Dad's so i didn't want to do anything too dumb... still had fun though. Then he let me drive his STi, which to be honest was a bit uninspiring compared to driving the standard rex... But it wasn't until i went for a ride in my friends VL Turbo with an RB25 in it that I wanted a turbo. Since then i've been doing research etc, and well now i have my own RB25DET to boost away on
  11. Look in the engine bay, there should be a large black box up on the top right as you look at it... I beleive thats the ABS controller. Could be wrong though... It was definately an option on S1 as mine don't have it...
  12. No offense dude, but you are trying to disprove 200-300 yr old laws of physics... the less mass, the less inertia, the less force required to change its velocity... Also, by you're theory, we can say that it would indeed take longer for the weight of the heavier car to shift onto the front wheels, since there is more of it, and hence full braking capacity would be reached later than that of the lighter car which means more time to brake etc etc... All these little things are negligable when compared to the laws of physics.
  13. Im 20, my premium is $2637, i think my excess is $1200 + $700 theft or something... i am on 40% NCB... my premium only goes up to $2770 with 1-5 mods (with just car). It's expensive, but well worth the piece of mind with a car like this. Only 8 or 9 days to go!!!
  14. Picture this... One Skyline R33 GTS-t weighing 1360kg, one Skyline R33 GTS-t completely stripped of everything using lightweight panels etc weighing 1050kg (regardless whether its possible or not)... both identical suspension, tyres, brakes and the same driver. The lighter one will stop first.
  15. Hmmm it's been too long, I cant remember the mathematical equation, but you link momentum to impulse and differentiate to get force... hence at the same speed, the heavier car has the greater momentum, and thus requires the greater force or, in the case assuming equal maximum breaking capacity, takes longer to slow down.
  16. Haha whoops, dunno what happened, well anyway it's down the bottom of the FAQ list.
  17. I think sII got a ceramic turbo, or sI had a ceramic and sII got a metal turbine... theres a great link on this site which outlines the differences... i think its in th FAQ section... infact i'll save you the effort http://imports.motortraders.net/imp...n&model=Skyline . Enjoy.
  18. Race cars do it and undergo alot more force than you would, so I can't see a problem...
  19. It's prolly a bit high cos i went through a dealer, but it is Grade 4 or Grade 5 condition, interior is immaculate and the engine sounds superb and goes hard (for a stocker). Plus I got a few extras (brant alarm/immob., tints, and 5 year aus wide warranty). I'm not too disappointed with the price as I had a quick look around at others in sililar conditions and they all wanted $20-25k
  20. Yea that's me... Migrated over here for obvious reasons =P
  21. Can I ask what law you guys have down there that prevents P-platers driving GT-R's... I'm from NSW and I don't think we have such laws... Since I am on my P's (almost off, have 3 months left) and I just bought an R33 GTS-t... and there are plenty of P-platers i know of that have turbos etc... is it the power figure? or turbos in general p platers down there arent allowed to have? Perhaps it was a GTS or GTS-t with a GT-R kit on it???
  22. or they can tow it and work on it where no one can see you As what happened to my Dad. Anyone use wheel clamps?
  23. Well, my plan is to get the exhaust out as quick as possible first... then work on cooling... See how well it's balanced after taht... either go for more power, or just a nice suspension set up... Jaqule: My car doesn't sound or look any hotter than yours I love that colour, and we are indeed in the same boat... I'm working on my plates... As for seeing me around, I doubt you will, but hey, it's a small world
  24. Yea, I had already planned it all for a 200sx... then i saw this car, and with a little help from my old boy got a great deal. So now i have to re-research hehe... Probably just looking at a cat-back exhaust and a stereo for the first 6 months... nothing too big in the stez either just a 6 or 8 speaker system. quality not quantity.
  25. It only came in this week, so it hadn't been complianced... It is white pearl, really clean except for a small scratch on the rear bumper, but i reckon it will polish out. I tell you, it has been a long day, and I still have 2 more weeks to wait! I want it now! Just to "knick down the shops" to get some milk is all
