Being a newbie to importing a car I had the same thoughts about the process. My car is about to depart Japan on Friday and everything has run smoothly to date. The company I used have bidders in Japan which can go over the car u r interested in b4 bidding(think that is common with most companies) so they let me know if it was a decent car. Also you get sent Auction sheets on the body and interior via e-mail. Ring John from www.importcars.com.au in Melbourne if you want to try importing. He saved me a lot of money on compliance and has been most helpful with any questions.Not long to go and I will be in Skyline heaven :devfu: Good luck!!

Importing not to bad if u have the cash!! Banks sometimes don't like the process as they reguard it as unsecure, But the import company I used was Very Good with all the organising, he even shopped around and saved me $1600.00 on compliance with tyres. Like anything 'Good things come to those who wait'!! imho. Cant help u on a R34 as i'm still a newby to a R33. p.s Make sure you get plenty of quotes on insurance. There's a thread on it for insurance companies contacts.. Cheers

Cost will be just under $16k with compliance and new tyres and all the other taxes. Then rego and I'm away. Will tint windows for that finishing touch and slightly lower suspension.

Goto www.installdr.com , has all wiring info on plugs on all cars. Hope this helps ya if u want to convert plug.

27 but have 2 speeding tickets and DUI nearly 9 year ago.But most records only go to 5 year max. Stated full driving history though.

best quote is with famous $1400 full comprehensive then Young and Cool $1500 and Just car insurance $1600 Famous excess $1000 which is BS Young and Cool I think was also $1000 Just Car $700 excess will get more quotes when i know full details of the car and work a few deals!!

Importing through John Whiteman at Importcars in Melbourne.(Friend of a Friend) Has been really helpful and quick to respond to emails. Will have to keep an eye out for a s2 when the offers come to my inbox, maybe worth the wait!!
