  1. What fuel consumption are you guys getting? *highway and city. Who here used second hand rods?. any probs? esp for the guys with 300rwkw. I can get tested second hand ones for $25 each, holden want $180 for each complete new rod. I'd hate to think what nissan would charge.
  2. Somehow I think I can live with that since the motor is going into a holden :Bang: Thanks again.
  3. www.greenline.jp its not listed on their site but they do sell them.
  4. I don't have the patience to fit a skyline irs rear end. looks like the 28 spline borg warner centre will be the go with 3.45 gears.
  5. VLt manuals used a diff ratio of 3.45 which is alot easier for me to source the diff. i could use the r33 box it would mean i would have to use a 4cyl commodore or pintara diff which is pretty pointless. what the hell you on about?. the sig is just humour. :jk: PS; Im building a rb30det so this forum will come in handy for me, that is if you don't mind me being here. PSS: i'm here to share info not to bitch about what car is better. shouldnt have to explain myself everytime........
  6. thanks for that. it's a bit too high for my setup, will use a vlt manual box.
  7. For a manual.
  8. an easy question for you guys. Need to know what diff ratio is in the r33 gtst's.
  9. Thanks for the replies, at least i'll be able to get it working. The Q45 maf is going onto a rb30det with gt3040 and powerfc. the powerfc has a setting for the q45 maf.
  10. Qld is one of the "easy" states when it comes to pod filters and emission laws and not to mention so called mod plates. That's why my car is still engineered and registered in nsw even though I live in qld. Vic used to be easy but in recent years has got it's act together where it's laws are almost identical to NSW where pod filters need engineers reports as they increase emissions. Not many RTa approved engineers will approve pod filters today as they know they will be scrutinized by the EPA. Sounds pretty stupid tho as there are many ways to increase emissions.
  11. The laws differ from state to state. eg in qld your allowed to use a pod filter, in nsw it's illegal to use one. I'm using a K&N panel filter which is oiled and is legal. It passed the engineers report and several checks by cops.
  12. I have a Q45 air flow meter which is going onto the r33 rb25det motor. I don't have the q45 plug, will a z32 plug fit or any other plug off a particular model fit?.
  13. So will a Rb25 harmonic balancer will fit onto a rb30 crank?.
  14. haha. those things are sold at autobarn. it's an air filter in the shape of an intercooler. The thing is mounted in the FMIC position and feeds air to the engines inlet pipe etc.. it's more of a ricer boy thing than a performance part. They are trying to achieve more air intake into the engine... blah... blah... What would happen when its raining? water going through ur fake intercooler -air filter = hydraulic lock, that's not a good thing. :slap:
  15. Do I need to use an external wastegate when im using a power fc comp, controller and boost controller?. PS: the turbo is a gt3040.
  16. I have a few questions you guys might be able to answer. 1. when will boost come on when using a Gt3040 (475 hp) with 9:1 comp, power fc with boost controller. 2. For the guys with over 300rwkw, did you use the standard rb25 sump?, are these baffled?. -I know they have crank scrapers which need to be removed with the rb30. 3. another one for the 300rwkw club. Are their any problems with the standard manifold?. Ive heard that air is not distrubuted evenly into all cylinders, people have made some mods to the inside of the manifld to fix this problem. 4. Are aftermarket manifolds worth it?. 5.Will the rb26 manifold complete with throttle bodies fit onto the 25 head?. 6. attached is a pic of a modified rb25 manifold. What do you think of this?.
  17. I found what I was looking for. Actually i found more than I needed. manuals and wiring diagrams for all their products. http://www.apexi-usa.com/documentation.asp
  18. Hi guys. I just picked up one of these. It's in good working order, it was pulled out of a car(not a skyline) and didnt come with instructions etc.... On the end of the wiring is a white plug, where doz this plug in? if it needs to be rewired doz anyone have the diagrams for it?. PS: it will be used with a power fc for r33 gtst.
  19. Q45 afm it is then. Thanks alot for clearing that up sydkid. LoL, lets hear em.
  20. I have been looking into the autronic smc and sm2 and both have the "autotune" option which is most valuable if u want to drive it to the tuner to have it further fine tuned. http://www.autronic.com/autotune.html My only concern is this:- "After the tuning is complete the analyzer and 02 sensor is longer need. At any time after tuning is finished the values in the target closed loop table can be changed, and the engine will automatically run the new air fuel ratio" using the o2 sensor continously would be more ideal. Has anyone heard of running the autronic with an o2 sensor (closed loop). This is also the price I got, don't forget postage isn't included. I have been reading up on the FC and have found limited info, so far i've found that the FC when tuned on pc is only available in japanese, I have heard rumours that there is an english version available but havent been able to find it. Any ideas on this?. Also can the FC be used without numerious features that are on skylines like air con etc.. I would like to use the fc in a car that was originally carby and doesnt have air con etc.., anyone know just how flexible the FC is with this kind of thing?.
  21. After reading all 42 pages i can't recall anyone talking about the right injectors, fuel pump (intank) and pressure regulator for 300rwkw with a RB25det GTST top end. No one has mentioned the cost of getting pistons ceramic coated nor an experienced engine builder in se qld. AFM's restrict airflow, I don't have one atm - will be using an aftermarket comp. Plus it would only add to the list of parts i need which already aint guna be cheap. Then again the AFM gives more accurate readings so I may have to include it. hrmmmm :blah: With so many more engine choices than a skyline, the costs involved in this hybrid engine make a "400kw" 383 stroker look much more attractive. Even tho I will probably go with forged pistons, hyperneutectic's(spelling) are looking good (they would be ceramic coated of coz) as ppl are achieving near 250rwkw's with cast pistons. What's your thoughts on this?. PS: just trying to cover every possible option.
  22. Whoa!!! after reading all 42 pages my eyes are burning! :nowigetit You guys can add another rb30/25 conversion to the list. But this ones going into a VB commie( it's the VH lookalike in my avator), something different for a change. Well what I have so far is a R33 GTST 2.5 top end and loom, the head has had a full machine with new springs, valves, porting and polishing. Aiming for 300rwkw, mind you the Vb weighs around the same as a 32. Will be purchasing a brand spanker GT30/40. I am stiil to decide on motec or autronic (dont want an afm but still retain closed loop). I am capable of doing everything myself except the bottom end, I live on the gold coast. Can anyone recommend an engine builder in the area that has experience with this kind of engine?. The injectors and fuel pump will no doubt need upgrading, also would the pressure regulator need to be changed?. I'm also using a standard VS tank and intank fuel pump, is there a suitable intank pump for this application?,also what injectors would suit?. Do you have the part no/kit no. so it can be posted up here for future reference?. No doubt i'll be needing that kind of info soon. Sydkid: As soon as you said oil spuirters arnt needed, ceramic coated pistons came to mind. later on you mentioned this which backed up my thoughts. Do you have a idea $ on how much it would cost to get 6 forged pistons done?. You also mention the use of a JUN adaptor with the r33 oil pump. Where did u get this from, how much?, and any part numbers u have would be greatly appreciated. Still waiting for all the info to sink in. Thanks in advance. :wavey: PS: I've just got hold of the r33 factory manual which i'll scan onto pdf and will put on the net for everyone to download. :kick:
  23. LoL, the question i asked sounded kind of stupid. I was way too tired when I typed that Q. I the brought the r33 top end already removed from the bottom end. I want to check if the head was originally from a GTST and wasn't swapped with a head from a GTS just so that the wrecker could ask for more.
  24. Just making sure I've got a turbo head. The head in question is from a r33 s2 gtst rb25. Is there any way of identifying the type of head by markings on the head etc??? or did this model come with turbo only?. PS: I can take pics of the head if it helps.
  25. The r33 top end I purchased did not come with a throttle body. How big are standard?, has anyone seen larger throttle bodies for r33's?.
