Lets bitch about 'Euro-styled' Jap cars
seraphyn_r33 replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
supra may be looking a little dated, it still manages to turn so many heads though. They still look a helluva lot better than a lot of cars on the road that you see everyday. The KA laser was the end of the ultra high performance laser range. They went mainstream with the KB. Nothing beats the pushed-into-the-back-of-your-seat demon acceleration of the KA, dont even get me started on the torque of those cars.............. lol -
had a head on with a tree at about 40-50ks when i was about 10-11 (i wasnt driving obviously) first accident i had when i was actually driving was when i was on my l's, driving down a 50k street. stupid woman in a tarago parked on the side of the road decides she wants to pull a u-turn from the side of the road without looking or indicating, so of course we t-bone her in the middle of the road at about 55 ks, i ride her across the road, bends her tarago in half, leaves my mums old mazda with a bent chassis, both cars written off, tarago woman goes to hospital, mum busted up her shoulder. You would not believe the joy i had after the accident of jumping out of the wreckage and giving this ignorant woman the serving of her lifetime.

Lets bitch about 'Euro-styled' Jap cars

its the latest trend now that every new car that comes out is "euro styled" its the in thing in the car industry at the moment. i for one dislike how all the jap brands are adopting european looks, but hey there aint much we can do to stop it. You either love it or hate it. some of the cars that come out look pretty good though, such as the new liberty b4, i really like the look of that, the mazda 6, honda accord, the new holden vectra also looks ok in my opinion. then there are the cars that look fairly ugly, such as the rx8, mazda 3 and the v35. (in my opinion anyways) i have to disagree with you 97r33gtst, the skyline does look sporty. although the r33 is not the most aggresive looking car, the r32 and r34 definitely look the goods in my opinion in terms of sportiness and aggressiveness. ive never driven a 350z, so i cant comment on how they drive (although most likely phenomenal) but thats not the subject of the thread. its wat everyones opinions are on the euro style trend. i actually dont mind the look of the 350z, but i can see why people dislike it. In other words, im not a fan of the saturation that is euro styling, it should be kept to europe. every car these days is beginning to look the same, with a lot of new cars ive seen having very very similar curves and shapes. lets just hope that the trend dies off relatively soon -
all i see is in this thread is a lot of people with a masters degree in bullshit:) If you all want to argue take it to the wasteland or something. otherwise dont take over his thread, at least give this poor guy answers to the question he originally asked. Bottom line getrippedoff (if you are even still viewing this thread), you cant turn a turbo off, we all know that. Just buy a non turbo skyline.... unless you can somehow manipulate your dad into letting you buy a turbo car........
-
sorry i tell a lie, the r33 wasnt my *FIRST* ride ever in a skyline, my *FIRST* ever ride in a skyline was in my dads r31 company car. i was too young to remember anything bout how it went, but my parents always had good things to say about it so i guess it was rather quick. they were always suprised how it beat their worked v8 holden hk brougham off the line. The r33 had the greatest effect on me though, it was all i talked bout for days after my first ride in it
-
r31 nismoid is right. it would be a lot easier and cheaper just to buy a shitbox until you are allowed to get a gts-t and be able to run decent boost levels. i personally dont see a point in buying a r33 gtst then spending the time and money buggerising round with it to basically disable the turbo so to speak. just my opinion anyway

First RIDE in a R33 Skyline
seraphyn_r33 replied to scottman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
haha its a great feeling isnt it?? riding in a skyline ruins it i reckon, you never want to drive anything else!! lol -
family friend who has far too much money to burn (it aint fair dammit!!!) bought a light modded series 1 r33 gst-t. got to gork at it stupidly and dream about owning one when ever he came round. anyways, one day he came round, and said those magical three words i always wanted him to say....heres the keys. look after it for a few weeks while i go to america. me and my mums mouths both turned into a huge grin and as soon as he left, we got in it and away we went. first impression getting into the car was the interior, pretty bland, but comfortable and functional. loved how low ya sit in it. then the oppurtunity arose. long straight backroads with little traffic round the weir(people in albury will know where im talkin bout) time to put the boot into it and see how she went. put the foot down, pushed into the backseat and all i could do was just laugh and smile. thats when i knew i must have one. Oh and also the amount of heads they seem to turn, its bloody great for the ego!! haha
-
buying a non turbo then changing it to a turbo is too expensive. It will also cost you money if you buy a gts-t and then spend the time f**king around with it detuning it. The best solution would probably be a)just to buy a shitbox for this year, and then buy a gts-t next year. b)If you already have a car, dont buy anything. just hold off your purchase until your allowed to be able to run full boost.

your looking at around 10-15 k for a good s13, and around 13-14 k upwards for a good 180
-
i heard they still have to pay you?? not too sure exactly. but knowing insurance companies, they will try every avenue to avoid giving you any money.........bloody bastards. But back onto lookin for a 15 grand skyline, it is possible to buy one for that cheap, but for 15 would it be more logical to find a cheaper import that will be in better condition for 15, like an r32?? but yeah, like i said before, luck plays a big part, you just may stumble upon a total corker of an r33, ya just never know! good luck to ya!!!
-
im in the exact same boat as you my friend. Looking to spend 15 at the most on a good car. I really have my eyes on an r33, but the reality is for a good example of one, u have to spend at least a few grand more, and thats with out factoring in insurance and all that other annoying shit. For 15 you would be best getting something like a r32, 180sx, s13, series 1-5 rx7, 89-90 supra, or maybe even an early model s14. ya never know though, someone might be wanting to offload their r33 cheap somewhere down the road........im still hoping for that to come along, haha. Luck and chance play a big role in the car market in my experience.

true, the gtr is an icon, and you can say you own a gtr, lol. but the r33 seems to be very common these days, and its only gonna get older. it would definitely be a toss up between the r34 and r33, the r34 is less common, but the gtr would have the better performance, and you have already owned a 33 gtst, so it might be a good change for a different looking skyline?? really depends on wat u are looking for in the car. in my opinion- performance, icon status of car = r33 newer car, less common = r34
-
if i had the choice, i would get the r34, because in my encounters they seem to be the least common on the road in my area (dont know about the cities) and its the newer car of the three. i guess the downfall would be that it is the least powerful out of the choices. but i reckon the very best option would be to give me the money instead lol. good luck to ya in your choice, no doubt you will be over the moon with any of those 3 cars!!

Learner driver in skyline doing 205km/h?!?!
seraphyn_r33 replied to Amaru's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
some good points there. i just believe that if a person is a reckless driver, they are going to be a reckless driver in any car they can get in, if thats how they drive. it is very true that they wont be going as fast if you put them in a 1.3 excel, instead of a v8. Im not saying that you *have* to drive like a maniac and crash to learn, im just saying that from my perspective, id still be a far more ignorant and stupid driver now if i hadnt had those few serious accidents and things to wake me up so to speak. im strongly in favour of a mandatory advanced driving course, and i also am going to go through one very soon, just that a lot of idiots will always act like idiots, regardless of their training. sure if they have done an advanced course, they would be able to get out of a lot more situations, but i feel that they would be vastly over confident and keep up, if not do even more stupid things. -
Learner driver in skyline doing 205km/h?!?!
seraphyn_r33 replied to Amaru's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i have just read through this thread and found some very good and interesting points, as i am a 17 year old p plater, i am on the "offending" side so to speak, so i thought, why not? ill add my 2 cents. now i know you guys prob wont take into account anything i say, coz im young, stupid etc, but i thought id do it anyway. first up, this girl must have some serious problems. everyone on here loves the thrill of speed, but really, she is out of control. all it takes is a few stupid people to ruin it for everyone. imports and import owners have a bad enough name as it is, and people like that just keep making things worse. the question, why do young people want fast cars?? simple, we just want them. we dont need them, we just want them. its got everything a young person wants - respect, girls, speed thrills, etc etc. you all know wat im talking about. in my few years of driving, i feel i have had more than my share of close calls and scrapes. my latest one was writing off my mums car wen a lady pulled a u-turn in front of me without signalling. i wont lie, i have done, and also on occasion, do very stupid things, as does every young person, but i feel that i also have valuable experience from all these encounters. it is a grim fact, the only way young people will learn, is if they hit that tree wen they went round that corner too fast, or ran into the side of that car wen they lost control. you can show 10000s of tv ads and speeches and stuff bout the dangers, but only if it happens to them will they learn. i like the idea of a more in depth license graduation process. but wouldnt making it more difficult and arduous put people off from getting their license?? wouldnt that in turn increase the numbers of p platers having too many people in their car, coz less friends will have their license?? advanced driving is a good idea, but i agree with wat has been said, it also causes over confidence. speeding and reckless behavior cannot be stopped unless every road and highway was 50 km/h and every car was limited to 50 km/h. there is not much that can be done to lessen speeding and stupid behavior and increase safety. with every pro there seems to be a con. you can take the speed out of the car, but you cant take the speed out of the person. if someone wants to speed, they are going to regardless. this is an issue that we will never all agree on, but im a firm believer in that it is up to the individual on how they drive, not the vehicle they are in. a hoon will speed in any car, whether its a high performance car, or a shopping trolley. -
definitely go the r34. best of luck to ya!!

seraphyn_r33 replied to Amaru's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i hope this girl gets a severe arse kicking by the law, import cars dont need any more bad press. all it takes is a few stupid people to ruin it for everyone. -
dont get me wrong rrrage, nfsu is a good game, just not a great game, i enjoyed playing it, although wen u finish the game there is no replay value. the game is good for wat it is, replicating the american modified car scene, and the fnf movies. nfsu is a good arcade style, easy to pick up game that a lot of people can enjoy. just that in my opinion, i prefer more simulation style car games, like the gran turismo series. cmon gt4!! lol. i reckon my computer is the equivalent of a morris 1000
-
i dont know bout u guys, but who cares about nfsu 2? i mean it shoulda been called nfs rice. nfs:u was pretty good, but still very average. its way too much like fast and the furious. dont get me wrong, the game was good, but still lots of gay bits (honda civics, nos, outlandish vinyls etc) im just saving my pennys for gran turismo 4
-
lol yeh, i have shamed myself for impulsively trying to steal your car off you for 15 cents, lol. but come on, its good quality lint!!. lol. i tell ya wat, im totally mortified with daewoo going under, nothing beats the power of a daewoo cielo. Its just a shame that nissan seems to be concentrating on more family orientated cars as of late, well thats wat ive noticed anyways
-
oh yeh of course. ive learnt the hard way that engine swaps in cordias are death traps!! haha. ive just got a great idea, how about, i buy your r33 off you now, for the money that i have in my back pocket, wait ill count it.........................ok, i have 15 cents, and im also willing to put in this piece of lint as well, now come on, ya cant pass up a deal like that can ya??? lol
-
but i do agree that their time has sadly reached an end. and i also agree with evo_lee, its time to embrace the VQ30
-
rs73 - im not limiting myself to the rb and sr series, just that they hold a special place to me, like most of us on here, and i for one, will miss them, lol. the first two turbo cars i ever had the pleasure of driving happened to be a '93 r33 gts-t and an sr20 180sx, although they were only friends' cars so yeh they were the first experiences for turbo cars for me. Although the scariest experience for me would be driving a cordia with a 4G63 engine swap, and torque steering basically across 2 lanes and nearly off the road altogether
