Best thing to do is pick a mechanic who is well versed in turbocharged cars and more specifically skylines. You will find the likes of RACQ in Queensland know f*ck all about imports. Most genuine sellers would have no problems driving their car to a mechanic for an inspection based on the fact that a buyer is ready and willing. I used Brisbane Turbo and Tuning when I originally purchased my car. Still use them to this day. Plenty of people will probably disagree, but the point is find a good mechanic and get them to do your prepurchase. If they find any problems - you can usually get a quote to correct and then negotiate this on the purchase price.

As people on here have already said - the choices of semi's available in 16" is far less than going 17". You will find it hard getting tyres you want in a 16" range - very limited

These threads always come out the same - i'd recommend this guy - I wouldn't because he is an arsehole ...etc...etc...etc. At the end of the ady EVERY workshop has lovers and haters and plenty in between. You are just going to have to make a decision based on the fact that some people use a specific workshop. If its close, if the work they are doing is not rocket science, they have had no-one threatening to burn them down because the destroyed their car - then what is the issue????

After measuring all of the clear coat depths with his nifty computer thingy jiggy - he then goes to "correct it" using a hand held power polisher. Maybe he also does telescope lense polishing in his spare time. Looks nice finished, but I bet the owner has a real sore arse from getting shafted by the fee

Been using them for about 3 years now. Like any workshop - you hear good and bad things. I have probably experienced good and bad with them - but overall I am happy with their work. I have had 3 rebuilds through them so far. Thay have been dealing with imports for a long time now - know their stuff - maybe could do better with high performance tunes, but general work is very good. Tell John that Peter with the black GTR recommended you and he will look after you. He should - I've spent about $30Million dollars with him so far.

I used to run RT215's on a Mini Cooper S. Heaps better than a road tyre - not as good as a track tyre - suffered from heat cycling badly - went hard very quickly. I run RT615's on my GTR as daily drive tyres. Better than RT215's for grip and heat cycling - don't seem to go off as fast. For what you are talking about - I think they would make a nice choice. As mentioned - they aren't a patch on 'R' compound tyres but are a nice in betweener. Make a very nice road tyre - yes, even in the wet.
