Stolen White R33 Skyline Gtr [bfc-39v]
DriftKings.com replied to DriftKings.com's topic in New South Wales
The car was parked between 2 x CCTV Camera's. They would have had to go past one or the other, the cops can sort it all out. Can't go nuts and take things into my own hands, very tempting though... -

The car was broken into and taken. Not sure if it was driven away or towed away. Either way the car is gone. -
Hi Guys, My ride has been taken from me on Thursday 17th April, 2008 around the shire area. It is a White 1995 Skyline GTR with the rego plate BFC-39V. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Any parts that are being sold in the area could be from my car. Thanks

Stock R33 Gtr Fuel Drinker
DriftKings.com replied to DriftKings.com's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Guys, Here is an update... A re-cap on things is that this was the fuel pattern:- 3 Fill-Ups @ 15L per 100km [no problems] 2 Fill-Ups @ 22-23L per 100km [1st cylinder not firing & boost leak] 1 Fill-Up @ 25L per 100km [fixed cylinder & boost leak] 1 Fill-Up @ 28-29L per 100km Serviced & Cleaned Injectors 1 Fill-Up @ 21-22L per 100km Stock R33 GTR should do 12.3L per 100km or there abouts. I have checked the right O2 sensor but its impossible to get the left/front O2 sensor off with out removing heaps of stuff. *** DYNO TUNING TIME *** if its still drinking over the next few weeks. The ECU has been reset many times after trying different things, does the ECU re-learn after things have been fixed and take time to settle. The car did 28-29L per 100km then it dropped to 21-22L per 100km. That is quite a significant difference. Will the fuel consumption return to normal after some time??? -
Hi Members of SAU, I have recently overcome a few problems with my R33 GTR. And now another. The Never Ending Story. :-P 1st Cylinder Not Firing *FIXED* Boost Cut / Revs Problem *FIXED* CURRENT PROBLEM Prior to both problems i was doing about 15L per 100kms which was abit over the mark for a standard GTR. (3 Fill-Ups @ 15L per 100km) During the 1st Cylinder Not Firing and Boost Cut / Revs Problem i was doing about 22-23L per 100km. (2 Fill-Ups @ 22-23L per 100km) After fixing all that i am now doing about 25L per 100km. (1 Fill-Up @ 25L per 100km) 25L per 100km in a stock GTR - WTF!!! As i have overcome these hurdles the fuel consumption has seemed to be getting worse. The only thing which i have changed from when it was about 15L per 100km to the 25L per 100km would be the spark plugs. Gap of 1.1mm down to gap of 0.8mm. Surely that wouldnt make the car drink another 10 litres of fuel over 100kms. The car is due for a 5000km service in the next couple of hundred km's. Could the car nearing a 5000km service lessen fuel economy? Any suggestions on a fix would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

R33 Gtr Beaten By Pensioner Driven Camry
DriftKings.com replied to DriftKings.com's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
1995 R33 GTR vs Toyota Camry (60yo Pensioner Driving) Hmmm, let me tell you the story. It was around a left hand corner, he was leading... After that there was about 200m up the straight away before there was only enough room for one car... and he won... :-P Play by play, we go through the corner, im in 1st, still going through the left hander, i snap it into 2nd. By this time we're doing 25km/h, my foot goes down and i move quickly to the left as he takes the right on the straight away. I can see the camry blowing some smoke as they floor it. The GTR accelerates to 40km/h and i have shift it into 3rd, my foot goes to the floor and the GTR moves up to 55km/h screaming its head off. I look over at the occupants of the Camry, they're an elderly couple in their 60's. I can see the light, there is an opening as the nose of the skyline is to the rear doors of the Camry, I move it quickly into 4th and stomp on the accelerator, i move up to the front passenger door of the camry with 30metres left by this time im doing about 65km/h. 60 some thing year old looks over and smiles as he suceeds holding position. I have to drop back and fall in line on the right. DAMN, lost to a Camry. Shamed. LOL. Enjoy! -

Thanks to all who have contributed and helped me where to look. I have gone over O2 Sensor, AFM's, Turbo's, Intercooler Piping, Clamps, Hoses, No fuel leaks, and it isnt the fuel pump as i checked it with the previous problem. I thought it might have been a blocked cat but its only 3-4 weeks old and i had the exhaust fixed 2-3 weeks ago, wouldnt he have noticed :-P ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- PROBLEM FIXED * Today the O2 sensor was checked to make sure it wasnt broken, cracked, or rattling. The Intercooler piping was checked, all hoses were removed and all clamps checked, these were then replaced after passing the inspection. Removed both AFM's and checked them, sprayed them with Contact Cleaner along with the plugs. * Reset the ECU and VROOOM, it goes... :-) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- One thing left is to see if that fixed the fuel consumption. Will Keep you all updated on this. Now i wanna see that 60yo pensioner camry driver go me. Before i was in 3rd or 4th gear when it hit 60-70kms. What chance did i have LOL. I just let the old dude think he beat a GTR with his mrs next to him. He needs all the testosteroe cranking through him as much as he could hehehehe Thanks again to all members of SAU, My R33 GTR Thanks you also... -
R33 Gtr Beaten By Pensioner Driven Camry
DriftKings.com posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Everyone, I have come to another obstacle after a cylinder being dropped was solved yesterday. It is a stock R33 GTR, the problem is that it stops revving after boost hits about +3.5 on the GTR gauge as pictured:- Also it usually happens around the 4,000rpm range and upwards as pictured:- THE PROBLEM * Happens through out all gears. So when driving the car starts coming on boost, it hits roughly around the +3.5 mark and you can hear the roaring from under the bonnet, it doesnt rev anymore, i try to drive it out, but nothing, i have to bring it off boost by taking the foot off or changing gears. * The car was running about 15-16L per 100km previously and doing 300-350km per tank. In the last 2 fills the fuel consumption has become 22-23L per 100km, it drank 54.78L over 239km which is ridiculous. * The oil temp is slightly higher then what it used to be also. It would have been approx 90-100 degrees before and now it might be 100-110 degrees HISTORY Since having the car a less then 2 months ago. I have changed engine oil - engine flushed, oil filter, spark plugs (on the 4th set), air filter, fuel filter, coolant - radiator flushed, made sure all coil packs were healthy, made sure all fuel injectors were healthy, made sure ignitor module was healthy, made sure ECU was healthy, this was due to a problem which was sorted yesterday. Also had to replace the rear muffler with another original unit and fix the leaks in the front of the stock exhaust system. Obviously the cat that came from japan was changed for a new one when it was being complied. So exhaust now has no leaks. Other things which were changed i dont think would effect what is happening is stereo head unit, front speakers, machine brake rotors, bleed brakes. PREVIOUS PROBLEM FIXED:- 1st Cylinder Down If anyone has had similar problems, or would know of a fix please let me know. Thanks for all the wisdom. -
okay, here is an update... I have changed plugs to brand new BKR6E... Cheapies compared to Iridium Plugs... The problem is still there with it hesitating... I have figured out it isnt with the rev range... But more when it his 3.5+ boost... How do i fix this problem and what is it??? Any advise would be appreciated...

Update, I have taken the car down to SSS Automotive in Girraween after confirming he had an ignitor module for my R33 GTR. Jeff was very helpful allowing me to try an ignitor, fingers crossed i turned it on. No Luck. Still cylinder #1 not working. We then tried a spark test, sucess. This meant the injector was faulty. But then i had taken the 1st injector to get serviced this morning. It was confirmed working. WIRING = Nightmare... ARGHHHH!!! Jeff called on the services of Jim from next door from Sideshow's Performance Wiring who looked over the car, the problem was intermitent and painful to diagnose. We went over all connections we could that were acessible. Went to the extent of swapping out ECU's that SSS Automotive kindly lent for the diagnosis. Still the problem in Cylinder #1. Everything electrically was un-pluged and clips etc tightened. Everything was put back together and magic. It was all working. Suspect wire was not 100% in on the ECU. It has been less then 1 hour since. I shall confirm that the problem has gone in a couple of weeks. NEW PROBLEM - Car moves, boosts, and starts not revving after about 4100rpm. I suspect it might be fowl plugs, i shall change them after this post and keep you updated. Thanks for all the advise and help guys.

Fs R32 Ignitor Box
DriftKings.com replied to a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Is this item sold? if not i'm interested if its 6 pins and 7 pins on the other, thanks -
I have narrowed it down to the 1st cylinder, how do i test whether its the lead not sparking or the injector?
-
Hi Guys, Are there any tests which i can perform to check coil or injector??? Thanks
-
I have bought some extra coil packs to eliminate the problems. How ever it is not the coil pack which is faulty. I now know there is problems with the 1st cylinder firing. It is either the lead that goes to the 1st cylinder or the actual fuel injector which needs replacing or repair. If some one could tell me how to test and eliminate which it is that is faulty id greatly appreciate it. If it is infact the harness the car is going to an Auto Electrician to re-wire. Any idea's on price??? More $$$, More Time, More Effort, More Headache... Why do i insist :-P

heller44, I have removed the engine cover and watched for a spark with no sucess, I shall take the engine oil into consideration in a couple of thousand kms when i do the next 5000km service on it. My right foot is heavy, it goes down to the floor everytime i drive it. Coming from a background of drifting and owning V8's and mates with supercharged V8's, its just a bad habit. The car is stock from what i know, i am the 1st owner in Australia. The previous owner has taken pride in their handling as there are teins under it and the attesa 4WD system is still working. I dont know the layout of the RB26DETT and have no clue where to find the O2 sensor. I'll do some reading on SAU to find out to check that. godzl1975, As i have replaced the spark plugs a couple of times in the last month it is possible the wiring harness that goes to the ignitor has become unstable. Failing testing the coils i shall check the wires that run off the ignitor to where i can see. It would be easy if i had a mate with a Skyline GTR so i could swap parts with to eliminate certain aspects of the problem. Unfortunately i dont. ------------------------------------------------------------- I have had a mate who works as a technician for lexus who owns a Sil80 do some simple checks as it was in its problematic state. We took off the plug for the 1st injector which he said indicated that the 1st cylinder wasnt firing. He said to check it like this for all or check for a spark in the coil packs to diagnose which cylinders werent firing. I now know at least the 1st cylinder has problems. I also mentioned that most of the spark plugs removed had been fowled. Another technician who works for Toyota also agreed that it is more then likely the coil pack not functioning correctly as the plugs had been ruined. As soon as daylight arrives i shall be testing the spark of the cylinders. If its the coils then Splitfires should be ordered soon. More top end revs. From past reviews power gains are also to be had. Thanks to all that have contributed. I shall keep you all posted to the outcome. Cheers Steven THRATTHABEUSY

Hi Guys, I hope the knowledge is plenty and flows freely here. I have an R33 GTR that i obtained recently. Everything was f'ked and i serviced everything that i could myself almost immediately after obtaining it. Symptoms - Car Intermintently starts chugging and refuses to rev, there is no particular stage, neither hot or cold, or revs. It happens through out the whole rev range, it comes and goes and happens through all gears. Car goes through about 15 Litres of Petrol on average over 100kms. This would be 40% highway and 60% suburban driving. Last couple of fills were 45.23L for 300km & 55.21L for 355km. Is this normal consumption of petrol for RB26DETT R33 Skyline? The things that i changed are:- Performed 1st March, 2008 * Engine Oil - Valvoline 15-40W Synthetic (Engine Flushed Prior) * Oil Filter - Cooper WZ442 * Air Filter - Ryco A360 * Fuel Filter - Ryco Z387 * Coolant (Radiator Flushed Prior) * Spark Plugs - NGK Iridium IX BCPR6EIX-11 The car has always run on Caltex Vortex Premium or BP Ultimate Premium Petrol. I have also run petrol injector cleaner through. The only other things which i have done to the car which i dont think would have caused the problem is to install new brake pads, machine brake rotors, bleed brakes. Installed HKS Type I Turbo Timer. Installed Aftermarket Stereo Head Unit. Installed Front Speakers. Today after reading through the forums on misfiring and stalling and similar symptoms i removed the Iridium Spark Plugs and replaced them with:- Performed 28th March, 2008 * Spark Plugs - NGK BKR6E (0.8mm gapping) I have also read about the coils possibly being faulty, i dont know how to check these, the packs look like they're in good condition, if some one could tell me how to check them. I would get a set of Splitfires if i was certain this was the cause. There is also the possibility of the ignitor playing up which is on top of the engine cover. What aftermarket options are available if this is the case? Then endless talk about also Crank Sensor, O2 Sensor, Knock Sensor, AFM, etc etc... Please Help... If some one could shed some light on what it could be with out me replacing everything my pocket would greatly thank you. I'll keep everyone updated on the steps i take and the outcome. Cheers Steven Thratthabeusy
