  1. Purple 4 door R32 Skyline traveling along Liverpool rd in Kilsyth at aboot 2:15pm. Really nice looking car. Would have given you a wave but you probably would have gotten confused as I was only in a Magna.
  2. Which area in Melbourne are you located in?
  3. Yeah, I've known plenty of people that have swapped in an SR20DE into a 180SX without trouble. But the 180SX came factory with an SR20DE, the 200SX didn't (on Australian soil at least). "No engine swaps for P-platers, period" isn't true at all.
  4. What's the legalities with exhausts? Of course, I understand that you can't remove the catalytic converter, and it must be within 90db. What about design? How far can it protrude from the car? What's the maximum angle allowed? What about mufflers? Can you have twin "blast pipes" providing they're within legal limit DB wise? Also, does anyone know if you can get away with removing a turbocharged engine and putting an N/A engine into a car that didn't come with that N/A engine? For instance, SR20DE in a 200SX. Would it be P-plate legal? Cheers guys.
  5. Non-airbag model. I don't want to purchase a car which mightn't pass a RWC, so I'm unsure if I should go for this or not.
  6. It's a 180SX, actually. I don't plan to run stock piping through it JUST yet. I'm planning on running an SR20DE, so it would be open/visible.
  7. I went to check out a car today. Seems like the stock intercooler piping hole has been cut. My question is, how could this affect a RWC, and what's the best way to fix it up? A mate suggested using a rubber grommet, but would there be any other ways that would be more effective?
  8. In this country? Wouldn't take long at all to be honest. I admit that the system wouldn't work perfectly, but considering the resources police have to impound/fine and even jail drivers at times, I don't see why the focus should be on modifications. Yeah, it's expensive to buy cars. It's still more expensive to buy a track car, and then a tow car. Also, a follow up question, can you get an engineer certificate for Bride seats, or do they have to be ADR approved? Anyone ever engineered some Brides? Would really love some aftermarket recline-able bucket seats, and the only ones which are ADR approved are the cheap Autotechnica's that I'm not too fond of. @Eightsixboy: Yeah I get what you mean completely. The only reason I'd get an engineering certificate would be so I wouldn't have to put much effort into getting the car cleared of any defects. I don't think engineering certificates are for avoiding defects as much as they're for avoiding the hassle of the defect, if you catch my drift.
  9. What would be the main things you guys would look for first on a 20+ year old car that you were interested in buying?
  10. The problem is cost though. It's not like Japan where you can buy some unregistered/ready to drift car for $2,000 or something. Paying for a track car, then paying for a daily is a lot more expensive than it should be. If police could let people off with modifications on the basis that they only thrash it out on track, then we wouldn't have this problem.
  11. That's what I've heard. Makes sense really. Would suck needing to unbolt a seat or attempt to cut it up to release a trapped passenger.
  12. Awesome. Thank you so much for the information!
  13. I wouldn't post under the Victorian section if I wasn't from Victoria.
  14. Hey guys. I'm currently looking into buying an import. I'm wanting to do some modifications to it, and I want to avoid the hassle of replacing parts whenever I get a defect. A few things I'm unsure of... 1) Roll cages. What can be fitted, and at which point does it need to be engineered? Are 6 point bolt in roll cages legal, providing you have padded the areas in which your head could come into contact, and it doesn't block the entry points? 2) Coilovers. Can you get defected for having them, even if you haven't lowered the car below the legal limit? If so, is engineering the best way to avoid this? 3) Seats. I'd like to install some seats, but aren't sure of the legalities behind it. I know that you need ADR approved seats, or an engineering certificate. Can you only engineer ADR approved seats though, or are you able to engineer seats like Brides? That mostly covers it. Few more questions though. If you do get defected and fined, despite having an engineer certificate, what's the best way to contest the fine? Also, any engineers you guys have used and would recommend? Looking for one who could engineer the items I listed, plus a few more (suspension bits, diff (if needed), boost controller/ECU (I think it's needed due to the EPA), Steering wheel quick release, that sort of stuff). Thanks guys!
  15. Have you had much interest in this? I've been after an N/A 180SX for some time. $7,000 is a bit more than I've got though, so it might be a while until I have it.
  16. This car is so sick. Sucks that C33's are hard to find in Australia. I'd love one, but they can be rare at times.
  17. R32 GTR at Kilsyth Maccas. Seen it there once before. Always looks clean, subtle, nice, etc.
  18. White R34 4 door last night in Mooroolbark. Had a pedobear sticker on the rear, was obviously lowered with either some TE37's or some Rota grid drift's or whatever they're called.
  19. Black R32. Has been parked out the front of the local cop shop for a long time now. FMIC with DIY "HKS" painted on it, blue front/rear bumpers. Missing drivers side window so I presume stolen. Anyone missing a black R32?
  20. Where are you located, mate?
  21. I definitely think it's about time we step up our game and counteract the police actions thrown against us. From the numerous forums I've been on, I have heard of plenty of issues with police officers targeting imports. One such instance was when a police officer gave a car a defect label because it had rusted boot screws. Another instance? Someone had their car defected because their drivers side seatbelt didn't retract quickly enough. It's getting out of hand. I want the dickheads off of our street, but you can't label us all dickheads from the cars we drive. Sounds a lot like someone targeting people on the colour of their skin, only different. I'd sign any petition you guys had. I fully support this idea.
  22. I have an i7 950, HD 6970, 60GB SSD boot drive, 1TB program drive and a 180gb game drive. Pretty content at the moment. Has been slowing down a bit lately but a reformat should fix that!
