  1. don't know about the dyno read out but my ss3 was working good on the weekend.... 4th gear smoke show....
  2. now for some action.....
  3. What a sick day....hopefully this isnt the last time we can use the main track but.....
  4. yeah I suspected my head gasket, but the combustion gas test came up all clear.... my mates S14 has been running like shit and we couldnt figure it out so I did the test on his and the dye changed colour straight away which means he has headgasket issues. Its an awesome bit of kit... I got mine from repco for $130, just ring and make sure they have got one first as lots of places were out of stock when I was looking for one. Here is how it works for anyone who doesnt know....
  5. it comes with the plenum....and when mine was leaking I used that knead it metal paste stuff....worked great...
  6. definately be going down to fry....
  7. well i was running a 1.3 bar cap... swapped it today to a 0.9 bar one. I also bought one of those chemical combustion leak tester thingos but it came up all clear...lll see how it goes with the new cap.
  8. So lately I have noticed that my car has been using a bit of coolant. Every couple of times I use it I just throw a bit of water in the radiator. Today I decided to find out wtf is going on and I think I have figured it out. My overflow bottle is hidden behind a custom panel I had made up so I havnt been able to check it. Today I removed the panel and had a look and the overflow was full to the top with green coolant (a lot greener than the coolant in the radiator as I have been watering that down). Its like when it gets hot it can overflow into the bottle but it cant get back... I took the line off and blew through it and it isnt blocked or anything.... Any ideas?
  9. ok so I figured out that the noisy 044 was just due to the fact that the lift pump wasnt working and the surge was emptying out. I had a walbro 255 as a lift pump but im wondering if I should try something different. I would like something that isnt going to die in E85, but is the new walbro e85 pump too big to use as a lift pump?
  10. mate, diff shimming is a really bodgy way to go about it. I thought I would give it a go at first and i threw in a few shims and it pretty much became a locker but it only lasted for a few weeks and was back to opening up again. If you intend on taking your car to the skid pan its not going to cut it. It might work for straigh line or burnout action when both the rear wheels are loaded pretty evenly, but as soon as you try and drift it it will just spin the inside wheel... Preload shims are not meant to be used to "tighten the LSD" all you are really doing is forcing the gears into each other and binding them up, but after a while they will eat away at each other until it opens up again. If you are going to go to the effort of pulling your diff out and opening it up, your best bet would be to take the centre down to a local diff shop and get them to weld it up...I have had peg legers, shimmed lsds, 2-ways and lockers and after all of that I would now take a locker every time. Mine was welded by Diff Technics at Kogarah and it has been able to take heaps of track days with constant 2nd and 3rd gear clutch dumps with over 300kw and its going strong... On the street its really not that bad, bit of wheel skipping around tight corners but who cares, better than all the clunking and rattling of a mechanical LSD...
  11. yeah its only done like 3500kms though...
  12. So Ive been having some dramas with my fuel system. Ive got an 044 and a surge tank in the boot with a walbro in the tank as a lift pump. The other day I was driving and all of a sudden the car turns off. I noticed that I couldnt hear the fuel pump priming, so I bypassed the relay and wired the 044 to direct power and it was enough to get me home. Had a fiddle around and I ended up figuring out that the fuel pump fuse had blown, so I put another fuse in....(i pulled out a 15a and all I had was a 25a so I put that in) Car started, I let it idle for about 5 mins while I packed up and all of a sudden it turns off again. Had a look and the new fuse had blown.... I thought maybe the fuel filter was blocked, so I took it out, gave it a clean, put it back in and started the car... Let it idle while i packed up again, then as I walked around to the boot I noticed a strange noise. It sounded like something was rattling away in my surge tank, but upon closer inspection I realised the noise was coming from my fuel pump... i let it go for a few mins and the noise just kept getting worse and worse so I just turned it off. Now I dont know what to do....
  13. So I have noticed now on two occasions after cruising my car off boost for a while or after driving down a mountain using engine braking my car starts to blow some white smoke... if I pull over and let it idle it seems like a fair amount of smoke. As soon as I give it a good hiding the problem goes away... Any ideas? it's weird because it wasn't doing this before.
  14. Damn none of the burnout cars hit the wall.....but one was an r32 that blew up...
  15. would this be any good? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kinugawa-Turbocharger-4-Non-Anti-Surge-T67-25G-10cm-A-R-73-T3-V-band-Hsg-/281019786178?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416e15a3c2
  16. Hey guys Ive got a Hypergear SS3 atm and after not getting the results I wanted on the dyno and speaking to a few people they seem to think that the rear housing is a bit too small. I want something that is good for 350-400kw... I really dont have the time to read through 230 pages but i have read a few and it seems like this kando T67 would be a good option right? I was thinking of going a GT3583R but if this is just as good I would do it. What do you guys think? I really want to get it right this time... Ive already got a 6boost manifold and 50mm turbosmart gate
  17. yeah the dyno guy said that for some reason some nissans do that weird shit with the rpm... he said it wouldnt affect anything but. The power graph really supprised me because it feels nothing like that...it actually has nothing for ages then all of a sudden kicks in massively and frys tyres but that graph makes it look very linear.... very strange
  18. power fc... the changes were definitely writing because the wideband was registering the changes and the timing eventually caused the knock levels to increase slightly as well...
  19. cant be intake restrictions, 4" intake with K&N pod, 3" custom IC piping....motor was running standard turbo before and was pretty stock.. The car feels good, it has brand new 255 federals on the back and it breaks traction when it hits boost in second, used to do it in 3rd with the old tyres.. Heaps weird...
  20. we both had no idea.... the car wasnt responding to anything... threw more timing= same power, richer=same power, leaner=same power wtf?
  21. got a venom hi flow metalic cat, the cooler seemed to be doing its job, on the dyno it was hot on one side and cold on the other, but I suppose it could be a restriction. I didnt want to spend heaps on a cooler as they just get fked up so quickly, and I end up just changing them out
  22. just a standard 600x300 chinese job
  23. Finally got my car tuned today with the SS3-eg.... pretty disappointed in the result... only made 287.5 kw. Something must be going on because I think it should be making a bit more, I was def hoping for something over 300. I was trying to run it on 20psi, but it was only getting to 18-19 and then dropping off to 17ish.. Ive only got the 7psi spring in the gate and the boost controller is maxed out. Im going to try and put the bigger spring in and hopefully get it steady at 20psi and see what happens. It was heaps weird, when we had it on the dyno the first run made 285, then we ended up throwing 7deg more timing into it and leaning it out more and it made absolutely no difference. Setup is: - SS3-eg - 6boost manifold - 50mm turbosmart gate running screamer - 3" exhaust with only 1 rear cannon - Greddy inlet manifold - E85 What do yas think?
