West is a user on here with a Starlet. Collects Turtles and used to have a very nice 32 GTR.
-
West lives in the East though, I know he is a bit of a club celeb but that is a fair way for even him to go.

As per Snowy's first post, it will be based on previous experience on track and DECA's. There are a number of members/committee who might previously have had a priority but wouldnt under that criteria. Sounds an excellent idea as long as they are not so difficult only Snowy and Chris get them right!

Yes potentially there are some mechanical differeneces, article: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...ArticleID=43984 A second model, which may be branded the Lancer Evolution MR - though Australian naming has yet to be finalised - will cost around $69,000. In addition to the GSR equipment list, the MR will add lighter Enkei alloy wheels (said to save 3.7kg overall), race-ready suspension (Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers) and a high-performance two-piece front brake disc. Mitsubishi Australia is still putting the final touches on price and specification levels, so it's not known if both models will come standard with the five-speed manual transmission, or whether the higher spec MR will get the new TC-SST semi-automatic gearbox, complete with two computer-controlled clutches.

It will help to a certain extent but it will get the wrong crowd I think. Similar to when they have a gun amnesty, its always the people who have no intention of using the gun that hand it in. With cheaper events, you will attract a very high population of people who would have no intention of doing races on the streets and actually get more people interested in this type of event who otherwise wouldnt be bothered (e.g Joe Bloggs in his barina). Having cheaper and more accessible events is the long term whinge of speeders/street racers but in reality it would deter very few as the buzz/danger/excitement/impulse isnt there.

Latest info I have seen is late March, early April. Looks to come in two variants, GSR and MR although the MR hasnt officially been named that in Oz yet. Price wise $60K for the GSR and $70K for the MR. The MR includes some extra trickery like the MR version of the previous models such as Bilstein shocks etc.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Good work West, normally I would agree but oddly enough, I don't think they mind working all hours (waits for Jeff to jump on and disagree!) Fences are winners, many have been spared now Definately be back in something performance at some point but not sure what or when, might be sooner rather than later, not sure at this stage. All I know is haveing owned an Evo, nothing comes close to all round out of the box and ticking all boxes Pushbike is clocking up lots of kms again, did 50 yesterday and another 15 today already! Nearly up to my former 500kms a week!

Sadly as some of you know, I sold the Evo on Thursday evening after 4 days of rushing around to get it ready for the seller who needed it by yesterday. Due to changes in circumstances in life, I could no longer comfortably afford to keep it and had struggled for a number of months (all the invites out for drinks that I couldnt go to were in a large part due to this). So for the time being until I work out what I am doing, I will probably just get a $10K run around and enjoy having some disposable income each month. A huge thanks must go to Techsport (Jeff and Zac) for their part in helping me enjoy this car. They worked numerous late evenings in the near 2 years I owned it to help me get it ready for trips/events and work around my 9-5 job. Even Wednesday night I didnt leave until gone 8.30pm with both of them helping get it ready for the new owner. Other thanks must go to Matt Lowth for his tuning abilities, Roy Cushan for his track day tips and SAU VIC for providing events to enjoy the car, particularly DECA which is where I get more enjoyment out of driving it. I will still be around and at meets as the club is a unique blend of great, fun people with a wealth of knowledge and having just renewed my membership. Evo ownership for me definately isnt over and maybe down the track a X will be on the cards. Having driven nearly 50,000kms in my car during my ownership, nothing mechanically failed during that time so from my perspective, it did exactly what I bought it for. I was never pulled over in it either. They really are great cars and I am sure the new owner will appreciate it as much as I did (also a friend of Jeff's). So, thanks SAU VIC and see you all around

Some cash and disposable income each month! Weighing a few different options up so won't be getting another car other than a little run around for a while. Evo ownership is not over and will get another down the track though.

Not stupid because that is what you can do. What you can't do is transfer rego, then claim the paid part back from the one you transferred over as it would make the new one invalid as there was no money on it (might take a few reads to understand )
-
Sorry didnt make it people, got back from Techsport late. Sadly the Evo has been sold
-
Damn - no correct answer! Answer is, you can't, you can claim the rego on plates being given back as they are no longer in use and not being substituted for any other plates. You can't claim the personal rego plate $$ back otherwise the new ones going on would have nothing paid against them. Thread can be closed/locked
-
There isnt any paperwork with the plates, I have asked for a certificate on previous occasions but on those occasions, the rego has coincidently just about expired so haven't bothered claiming. The nearest I could get to a certificate was a stamp with the time and date on and the initials of the Vic Roads guy saying I had been issued with standard plates. Might just have to call up and see but didnt want to have to sit in a phone queue if I didnt have to. Am guessing to do it, they would take the rego label off me as it is paid until Feb next year.
-
That wasnt the question Rav, I know they stay with the owner as I have a couple of sets. Question was, can I claim back the months unused without relinquishing the plates. If I hand the plates back to Vic Roads, I can claim the remaining months but I don't want to hand them back. I don't want to effectively pay rego on plates that are not on a car (over 11 months worth).
-
Hi All Has anyone removed a private plate from a car and held that plate on retention but claimed the remaining rego back, can it even be done without relinquishing the plate? If the plate is deregistered, I believe you can but if the plate is staying with the owner, not the car, is the bit I am not sure on. Have searched the Vic Roads website but nothing explicitly on that. Am guessing most people would transfer a private plate from one vehicle straight to another so it would make no sense claiming back.

That's funny only because it isnt on my car! If it was, I would not be happy Mistakes like this don't just "happen". To put a spark plug would require as much effort as to put the sump plug in. If they are working under the car on a ramp, they are far more likely to catch that than the proper plug. They definately didnt put it in as a temporary measure as when they would have taken it out, the new oil would have dropped anyway! Really is no excuse, even if they couldnt find the sump plug, you wouldnt put something temporary in for risk of doing what has happened, the customer found it! Hope you get it sorted and post up the result once you have taken any action.

If you do a search around the forums you will get some feedback but you won't find anything negative as those type of posts are not tolerated and don't stick around long. Have a look around for the dealer/workshop with the most positive feedback and base it on that. Some people may choose to PM you if they have any info.
