So it works now then! Remember when someone cut me off and it made no noise, had to resort to the finger!

Fast Ford, Performance Ford **prepares for flaming I am struggling to find decent ones here without cars with 20" chromies or cars from pre war. I shall use this thread almost as a suggestion thread to go and scout out potential decent mags.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the Herald Sun article yesterday. Isnt it all circumstantial and down to what he admits doing? Interesting thing is he turned himself into a station only a few km's from where the lady passenger was from.

My alarm was screwed after the car had been in a container for 6 weeks. Plugged it back in over here and it never worked right. Have you looked for the owners manual or their website for reset tips? I tried it for my Toad alarm but to no avail. Could be worth a shot though.

frx026 mentions the vehicle being unladen when tested which makes sense as what is the tester going to do, get 4 mates in greasy overalls to jump in the car and test it. I thought the vehicle had to be no lower than 100mm with 1 adult, might be wrong.

Interesting, not heard this before. Valid point though.

Would also be interested to know? Could understand if the oil/water had mixed but he said no leakage. Great news Pete and quickly fixed.

Wasnt there a 34 GTT being broken in the For Sale section from near Brisbane. Had major rear damage. Try him.

Best time in the summer to go, August. Was there a few years back and it is amazing. To swim in an open air pool in 30 degree sunshine yet see snow on the mountains above you. Superb memories.

Such a tragedy on an awesome road. RIP to those involved. Here is the update from the above link from poster IceTemple: The woman killed was just being given a joy ride after she delivered a motorcycle to the guy who owns the car. What a tragedy for all involved. Death at 150km/h in Ferrari July 27, 2006 12:00am A DREAM ride in a red Ferrari turned into a 150km/h double tragedy in a horror highway smash yesterday. Police believe the Ferrari was 70km/h over the limit seconds before it hit a tree and disintegrated. Investigators are seeking the driver of a high-performance car with orange racing stripes seen in the area at the time of the collision. Killed were father of four Paul Estcourt, 33, from Wandin North, and a 22-year-old Traralgon woman who had travelled to Melbourne's eastern suburbs to deliver a new motorcycle to him. Police said that as she handed over the motorcycle the woman admired his Ferrari coupe and he offered her a ride. But he lost control of the powerful Italian sports car going east along the Warburton Highway at Lilydale and hit the tree. The Ferrari was torn to pieces and Mr Estcourt and his passenger died about 12.40pm. Officers from the major collision investigation unit remained at the scene last night examining the wreckage and other evidence of what had happened. Locals said cars regularly broke the 80km/h limit on the stretch of road where the car crashed. Police want to talk to the driver of a late-model silver Ford Falcon sedan with orange racing stripes seen in the area before the smash. They yesterday blasted drivers who ignored warnings about speeding. Sen-Sgt Trevor Ashton, of Lilydale police, said the deaths were an unnecessary and horrific tragedy. "It's quite traumatic for members when we have to attend these things. It's very disappointing when you've got strong media campaigns and community awareness and you work hard with your local community," he said. Sen-Sgt Ashton said the chain of events was especially unlucky for the passenger, who did not know Mr Estcourt. "She's come down from Traralgon for a delivery and it's by sheer chance she's ended up in that vehicle. It's somehow finished up that she'd gone for a drive in the Ferrari and this has unfortunately taken place. It shouldn't happen." Sen-Sgt Ashton appealed for anyone in the Falcon seen in the area to help with their investigation. Devastated family friends of the Estcourts, Wendy and Santanna Thomas, rushed to the scene and were horrified by what they saw. Ms Thomas said Mr Estcourt's death was a tragedy for his young daughters and family. She said he was a man who loved extreme sports. "It's just awful. He certainly lived life to the full. The motor sports thing was a real family thing. He used to do it with his girls," she said. Ms Thomas said the stretch of highway where the accident happened was a notorious spot for speeders. "This is a shocking piece of road," she said. Warburton Highway resident Anna MacGowan said she was distressed to find twisted metal strewn over the road when she came to investigate a loud bang. "I live 150m from where it happened and usually hear very little so it must have been a very strong impact for me to have heard it," she said. Workmates of the young woman, from Traralgon Motorcycles, were too upset to comment publicly last night. They said her family in Queensland had been told the terrible news. The double fatality took the state's road toll to 177, 29 fewer than at the same time last year.

Drools! One very very nice vehicle. Took my brother to see one of these back in the UK. Only seen one here and that was parked on Burke Rd, Camberwell a couple of years back with the plate CSWTH I think. Oh and in answer to the ques, I think it has to be a certifed complier to ensure everything is done correctly and within the law but could be wrong.

The one thing that stuck in my mind as a non driver that Adam said in the briefing was "cars hate being drifted" which would help explain camber problems etc.

Couldnt agree more. A spot on post. Watching traffic the other day when I was on the freeway. Its not just the ones going too slow on the slip lanes, its the ones who sit too close coming down the ramp. The Heatherton Rd on ramp going away from the city had 5 cars bumper to bumper when there are already more cars in the inside lane than a lot of other junctions due to the South Gippsland Fwy turn off immediately after. It should be like cogs, each car slots between the next and so on.

Some good points Mav in there. The whole training needs to be structured and thorough with those areas then tested on during the test. All the training needs to come before the test though. Once tested, we all know what its like, nothing can pry the car from the new driver. Most people wouldnt choose to take part in a skill workshop especially when they have to pay and those $$ could be spent on driving the streets with their mates. The UK offer something called Pass Plus which gives a tiny discount on insurance if successfully completed. I had the option of this but didnt do it as I had learnt to drive over the winter on snow covered roads, black ice, freezing fog etc. I also had a bonus lesson from my driving school on motorway driving so had that covered. In all honesty, experience wise, I would have gained very little due to the exposure I had already had as it wasnt a "get the car out of shape and correct it course" but more just to drive in the conditions. Trying to get drivers back once the licence is issued will not work IMO. Bad habits are picked up instantly. The other point is deaths on the road will always happen no matter how much training is provided, the toll just needs to be reduced and the good habits on the road increased.

Will mention to the Directors this information. No cases taken to court. We get regularly raped with legislation in this industry particuarly from NSW more so than QLD and VIC.

All I can say is, we must be getting bad legal advice. A grass cutter flicking a stone up that was on the grass is no different to a truck flicking a stone up that was on the road (other than the surface which they are travelling on) and its not the grass cutters fault the rock was there. We dont pay out of good will, we pay on demand. With diesel prices, we dont have spare cash to pay for damage to the public's vehicles if we didnt have to. It is also worth noting most come out of NSW. With a fleet in excess of a 100 trucks, we get maybe 1 claim every month or 2. I can only speak from experience. I suggest we agree to disagree in this case.

No mate, thats where it is as Jason asked where he put his

On top of the dash on the passenger side

I also fall under this category, well at least the slightly mad part.

Do you have any legislation stating this? Its the same when the grass cutters flick objects up at peoples cars while they are cutting the verges. They didnt fall off the grass cutter, they were flicked up. Take a hypothetical worse case and a rock is flicked up that pierces someones windscreen and hits them. Is this tough luck because it didnt fall off the truck? Disagree with you buddy. We have had legal letters etc at work from car drivers who have had their vehicles damaged and I dont even work for a tipper truck company, its refrigerated transport.

He mentioned he was trying to get in sooner but didnt realise it was this soon. Hope all goes well Geoff and best of luck for a speedy recovery. Thanks for the info Bris
