  1. Ferni - Thanks for the info mate, making more sense. I had forgotten rego which was $500 odd. Lexus are renowned as cheap cars to service from all accounts I have heard just not cheap purchase price I have just renewed the insurance last week which has now dropped to $500 for the two of us with RACV so am very happy with that. B) While I will need new tyres eventually, I was basing figures on the previous years financial outlay to see if I would have been much better off. (not meant to sound abrupt and have now typed this 3 different ways to try and avoid that!lol!) I might chat to the g/f about it. I know the finance for mine is through Lexus and it was a business type finance so I could depreciate it through my business. Something along those lines. The g/f does all my tax and depreciation etc and BAS so will see what she says. I really should pay more attention financially! Thanks for all the info Andrew, have learnt quite a bit.
  2. Ferni are you an accountant! These figures are consistent with the ones my girlfriend talks about which don't take long to lose me! The idea sounds appealing but my KM's are only about 15K a year. % figures aside, the noticeable difference is going to be on a car that requires "maintenance" of a significant amount or has high running costs? And also on a car that clocks up a fair few KM's? For instance, we have owned our Lexus for one year. In that year I have paid for one 60K service costing me $300, fully comp insurance for $600, RACV breakdown of $166 and one tank of petrol per week. Sorry if I am missing the point slightly here but keen to understand:)
  3. Were you speeding, you dont say whether you were or not?
  4. I visited the site above and did some calculations on their slidy scale based on purchase price, salary and KM's and I would work out about $500 better off doing it that way. Think I will stick with the one I am with currently for ease. Interesting read guys
  5. They can't warn people as if they did 2 weeks back, they would have run dry in a couple of days. People panic buy. I have been victim to rumors and facts with fuel before and been caught up in it. The best thing is to do as they did and let the news come out gradually as the stocks ran out.
  6. Damn, almost got to agree with you there Dezz. It is definatley down to a preference thing aside from being a bogan. I like Fords, always have and always will. I am not even from this country and didnt come from the similar equivilant of a bogan in the UK by a fair shot. Look at the price of some of the 32's. Plenty of Holdens and Fords are more than them that I see bogans driving daily. Not just about money, about culture, upbringing etc. Also plenty of people buy cars that their peers have when they are young or that more people know how to repair. Plenty or reasons why people choose different makes, most of which are not down to price alone. My 2c
  7. I have imported from England on my own. Straight forward enough but mine came in under the 15 year rule. PM me if you want any more info as I dont come into this room regularly.

  10. Dezz - I would officially like to thank you for whoring my thread so much that it exceeded 1 page. My first thread to exceed 1 page! woohoo!
  11. Sounds like what Chrisnicholis has done to his 33. Looks outstanding especially if finished off with a few trick bits like his.
  12. I had completely forgotten that lingo! Why of course it is maintenance. I used to use the same one with parents on their cars when I was at uni. "The stereo has chewed up my tape, I need to repair it with a CD player" "The CD player I put in, was too powerful for the speakers and has blown all the speakers, so I had best sort those out now" End of uni my dad asks me why he has 6x9's in the back of the car, a changer and sub in the boot and a Sony headunit with more buttons than an aircraft flight deck that he is never going to understand  Ah good old maintenance
  13. These look really good. What did we do to deserve these then or is part of the upgrade to the new BB still Either way they look cool B) Edited - the other thing I noticed, under where it has my details, I have a % warn with some blue blocks. Is that only the user who can see their own warnings or do I have this % warn thing for some reason
  14. Some good answers guys What happens with modifications on a novated lease out of interest? Can you modify and are there any technicalities to watch for?
  15. Happy Birthday mate, enjoy the day.
  16. As above. I am going to pick Mav up and head over and possibly meet Scott on the way through but yet to confirm and then wait at McMobil. Will try and escape the asylum slightly earlier at maybe 3-3.30 to arrive there at a reasonable time.

  25. I quite like the Cage following on from my traumatic ride to Winton with Snowy. I emerged at the end, a fully Cage and Magnetic Fields convert! I did like their rendition of the Home and Away theme tune adjusted to meet the needs of Bec and Lleytons wedding. Kate annoys me but the other two I dont mind, however burnt CD's of all my 90's dance tracks are getting the vote at the moment B)
