  1. hmm. stumped! no further comment from this corner
  2. Wasnt this 10 days ago? I guess what we lack on forums (currently), we make up for socially!
  3. Trying to come up with a semi interesting thread to liven things up a bit. Having been in this situation myself, it would be good if there was a reference point for people. Interstate skyline guys and their friends and families could use this thread as somewhere for ideas. We are all from different areas, what is there to see and do that you recommend? No negative posts please, only recommendations! Can be state wide and not just car orientated. Whore it with good ideas people Ash keep those trademark words out of it unless it turns to crap mate j/k "d* * s**rch" Would you like to buy a vowel?! To get us started: Rialto for lunch on a clear day Lygon St for an evening Italian meal
  4. Now this is more like it! A cool thread, we need more chit chat.
  5. Hey hey - go pool pony! Pool Pony rocks! 4 guys in a Lada with a pool pony, going down Chapel St on a saturday night, a sight to behold! Chris just means he will be back next year with a vengence don't you mate?!
  6. Could be the final bit of encouragement I need to actually take to the slopes rather than just filming each time! Thanks Geoff! Definately a drink tomorrow night is in order for all the team, see you then mate.
  7. Cool, thanks Geoff. I normally spin after a tough ride to reduce the lactic acid and then a spin as you are suggesting maybe tomorrow. Then perhaps a refresher on Friday and a grind over the weekend. Trick now guys is to keep that fitness level up as you do have a very good base with which to work from. Skiiing is an interesting one but I can see it working welll as you are not using the same muscles as cycling but are exercising. Similar to running but less strenuous (I assume you are talking fairly gentle skiing as opposed to ski jumps and mogles (sp?)) See you tomorrow night mate and thanks for the good words.
  8. Let me be the first to say, well done guys. I know we all spoke after it yesterday but so the rest of SAU knows. Chris, Troy and James put in an awesome awesome effort and definately deserve a beer. Top work and it impressed me. Had 10 hours sleep last night and am feeling OK today. Had a bath and a pizza and a Carlton Draft (thanks Bec!) before hitting the hay. Should probably give a quick run down of the day. Crashed at James' Saturday night (thanks mate) and got up at 4am to go and collect Bris in Team Lada. Met Chris in North Melbourne and cycled down to the start from there. Made very good time down to Portsea and passed a uni cycle amongst hundreds of other bikes. What off set our times was the queue at Portsea for lunch and the ferry which took up a good hour all together. Crossed on a smaller boat (not one of the big car ferries) and saw a couple of Dolphins jumping around in the bay. Champion effort Team Wang, of the cycle division!
  9. Mate had a Mivec one in the UK for a couple of years back in 98-00. Was in dark blue and completely standard. As others have said. Sound awesome, they sound like they rev very highly. No head room in the back, I ended up with my eye in the high level brake light several times on the way home from nights out. His had a double DIN head unit that could only pick up Japanese radio so CD's were all he used. 200bhp from the factory is quick enough for a N/A. Couple of things I personally didnt like. Windows on the side are so high up you cannot rest your arm on the edge of the door and the steering wheel as you can in most cars. Huge orange indicators on the side look tacky. Lacquer on the wheels doesnt last long. I would definately own one and nothing hair dresser like about them, thats left to the mazda range
  10. Fighting fit and raring to go in this corner.
  11. or "Sold as Seen" is another good one that I have used before. Covers your back incase of any nasties.
  12. Hear what you are saying mate and nicely worded reply by yourself. Ash is good guy and having met him a few times in person can say this. Dont take anything too personally IMO that he types he is a decent bloke and means well. B) Where is the emoticon for giving someone a clip round the ear when you need it!
  13. Thats good to know, thanks. B) Have been there a couple of times but not for big events or occasions up there. Trying to do something different each year and did Melbourne last year so whilst would be good to see fireworks etc, I have seen it before.
  14. Been invited to a party in a docklands apartment which would be good for the fireworks views but am quite liking the sound of the Gold Coast this year.
  15. Unfortunately that is quite a true post. I am sure there are a massive amount of other illegal cars also on the road, not neccesarily illegally modifed but are in an illegal state. Skylines are easy pickings. A standard commodore with 4 bald tyres doesnt scream pull me over but a BOV on a skyline does. In my experience it is down to three things in this order: How you drive Where you drive What you drive In nearly 8 years of driving I have never been pulled over or breathalised so I will reserve judgement until then. My 2c
  16. Interesting Blue on the 33 GTR. Great to see all of those together. Some nice wheels on one of the blue 34's as well with the slight dish and the multi spokes in a gold type colour.
  17. Is that standard practice to re issue the VIN in Australia? Assumed it would stay all the way through from birth to death. Or is the VIN on a jap car written in Japanese (excuse my ignorance, havent seen a VIN on a car only sold in Japan)
  18. You call Vic roads and get an "unregistered permit". They will take the current plate of the car and VIN no and print it onto paper before faxing it through. Costs about $60 for 30 days. Can be renewed as often as need be but the car is only supposed to be used to move between places where compliance work is being done. I did insure mine through RACV but it wouldnt have been covered.
  19. Would be a useful contact to have. Am going through the process of getting my iPod repaired at the moment and with them, there is a no. which directs you to their website. From their you can type in your postcode for your nearest repairer. e.g apple.com.au/ipod/support Have you tried anything like that for your phone manufactuer/provider? Also I assume it isnt insured or covered by your provider?
  20. I second that. Wouldnt like it if it was my girlfriend. Nicholls, shame on you *slap*
  21. Was an awesome day and big thanks to the committee for organising it. Great to see so many nice cars in one place and everyone having a good time. Gradually working my way through the pics on the thread! Look forward to the next one guys and girls.
  22. Well, another team Wang training ride complete. Today we cycled from Sandringham down to Portsea which took us 4.5 hours including stops. Had lunch in Portsea with the Nic and Min who kindly drove down in their cars to collect the lunatics. Pics will be up later. Not too many taken but was a very memorable ride. Well done to Troy and Chris for completing it and thanks Min and Nic for collecting us. Some crazy crazy dad was flying a kite on the end of a fishing rod which he managed to fly over the top of the ferry. This kept us amused with its many dives close to the top deck of the boat. Watching him try to reel it back in from what would have been a good 150 metres was even better as the kids he had with him looked bored by this stage!
  23. Hey Jenna, post this in the Victoria section under the Spotted thread, someone will probably confess then.
  24. Outstanding effort and well worth the wait!
  25. Correct. Only covers the 3rd party individual. With the UK you now have to take the insurance certificate and the annual roadworthy equivilant certificate called the MOT to get taxed not just insurance which is even better IMO as it prevents bangers going around that are the real road worthy issues. Sorry to put this in the stolen thread but at least it is keeping it at the top for you mate.
