I was going to do this so would be interested if there is a team as I currently am nobby no mates for my cycling over here!
-
Have seen that before but it still makes me laugh so much! The first one was similar to one we did once. A mate worked for the local supermarket in the UK and was a trolley boy at uni. He had a bright yellow florescent (sp?) jacket for it. We stood on the edge of the local dual carriageway with an upside down roller blade and the jacket on! It was funny watching all the cars slow down as a 16 year old!

I thought that one in your link was the Benq one but I am not sure now as it doesnt seem to be branded. Sony do one for about $200 or just under with a 70 hour battery life and about 700 song capacity. Trains you probably would use one on. Most places will have access to common types of music so unless you listen to stuff that isnt on the radio or people are not likely to have in their collection over there, you won't be without it. The other thing to remember is from experience, people dont come and talk to you as freely if you have something like that. Being away is about meeting people as well. As a seller of these things, I would advise against it but it is your call. Aspen would be awesome and is one of the places I would love to go.

MSY is a computer type store. To be honest if you are going overseas travelling, don't bother with a portable music player. I travel a fair bit both alone and with my g/f and dont use one despite having bought a few over the years. I started out with a portable CD Player, then a Mini Disc, then a 128MB MP3 player and now an iPod mini. All bought for different times of travelling and barely used. They were most useful on my bike though for training. I gave that recommendation to my g/f's brother but he still bought an iPod and it came back from 6 weeks in the US unused. If you are travelling around you will miss too much with tunes on and it also pays to be aware of your surroundings. Having said all that, if you want one for a commute somewhere like a train or you think you will use one while travelling there are a couple. The majority that I have seen are charging via USB though including the revised iPod mini. The iPod Shuffle is 1GB but doesnt allow you to choose the order of your songs (as the title suggests!) RRP $198.99 There is a Samsung YPC1DZ 1GB which comes in different colours and has an RRP of $328.90 which seems too steep to me. This has an estimated playback of 42 hours from 1 AA battery so you wouldnt need to recharge it and if so an AA battery would be easier to buy If you are dead set on getting one I would also suggest a bigger one than a 1GB as $ for $ they work out expensive. If you need any other help let me know. HTH

That is the idea ultimately but as yet the site is more to demonstrate the areas of products I can get. There is a fair bit more done on my localhost site here but I dont want to put one section live and have to try and maintain that content whilst developing the rest of the site. Just had a look at that Scorptec. They have virtually all the lines I can get/carry. I think they must have some of the same suppliers. I also get things in from overseas.

My website is still a work in progress but I can get most IT things/Digi Cams/Home Entertainment/iPod things etc. I don't hold a lot of stock but can get most stuff next day. Having said that there isnt a lot of mark up on IT as most people know. Feel free to PM with any requirements. Website below.

Mine are in! -
The funny and possibly slightly ironic thing is, you took off so quickly along the start straight I couldnt get the camera out in time to get a pic so that was the first opportunity I could a shot on it!
-
Ok guys and girls, my pics. Most are parts of images so if anyone wants a high res one or the full image, let me know.
-
Aaron - I will work on it! Good to meet you prior to that mate, need to grab your contact details as well at some point. Also good to meet Matt, Scott, Blaise, Dan, Brisby etc. Cool pics Matt and well done getting it sorted

Chris mate! I know you are going to kill me for this! I have RACV membership that covers me in any car. You should have said and I could have got a truck. Only thing I am not 100% on is whether it is tow home or to the nearest repair place especially at that distance. We were going to do that with ChrisNichollis GTS if he needed it after the shunt on the way to PI back in Feb. Glad you got home eventually though mate. Oh and Aaron, Dan and I unfortunately now know why you have that username! Just please dont put the photo up! I shall be undertaking a course of hypnotherapy to try and cure me and before anyone trys to guess what that means, the man took a photo of his own bare ass on the street as Dan and I were walking behind :chairshot :chairshot

I have a few shots of Snowy and Chris from Friday practice looking in battle mode on the final bend which I will put up tonight.

Great weekend and big thanks to all involved. Good to meet several new people and consume a fair amount of alcohol also! I have a few pics from the drive up and Friday practice I will post up once the number plats have been suitably disguised. Very cold weather but awesome company Massive thanks to Snowy for driving me there and back also, much appreciated mate :lock: I would like to add most memorable moment for me was Snowy and I heading for the bottle shop on foot from the pub carpark only to hear this sound similar to that of a car at a world rally round. We looked behind us back down this alley between the pub and the bottleshop to see Blaise in his WRX going side ways accross the pub car park without the use of a handbrake followed by a plume of dust and stones.

Not sure if there is going to be another dedicated thread to this weekend on the general Vic forum. Got back a couple of hours ago with Snowy. The weekend was awesome and would like to say a massive thanks to Snowy for driving and running me around up there. I have a few pics I will put up in the next day or so too. Ferni - I will let the racers put their times up but all I will say is they were good :uh-huh:

What happened to the RE55s SAU pricelist thread?
saff_cossie replied to Ronin 09's topic in Victoria
My mate from the RS club works for them I think. At least it is a Donnelans of some sort. They have two blue holden brand new utes. He also had the window tint deal that we got a while back. -
what u need for a 13 hr drive!
saff_cossie replied to henzie's topic in General Automotive Discussion
That was exactly the problem I had with the g/f. We had an apartment in surfers but wanted a car so the only way was to drive up. I drove all the way there and she drove part way back. We did 12 hours straight to coonabarabran (sp?) with a few fuel stops and then 8 hours to the gold coast the next day. Plenty of water for you and the car, spare oil and a basic tool kit. Also check your wheel nuts can actually be undone i.e not done up with a pressure gun so when you get a flat you are stranded. Lots of CD's. We had an esky in the back running off the cigarette lighter as well for cool drinks. Fantastic country for road trips. -
I am sorted for getting there now so won't need to go in convoy. Cheers anyway James.

would you pay a $500 deposit to test drive a car?
saff_cossie replied to [D4RKS1D3]'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have sold a couple of cars (not over here though) and have taken a potential buyer for a drive myself as someone else has said. I have also insisted on the cars that I have bought (other than the dealer one here) that they seller take me for a drive. The reason being, they know the car better than me and can show me what it can do. I went out with a few cosworth drivers in the UK and some were insane. It also gave me a chance to look around and see if there were untoward smells, sights etc. Paid off both times and I bought the 3rd one. In answer to the question difficult one. By putting it down you can show you are serious or at least semi serious but on the other hand I wouldnt hand $500 to someone from the trading post who I didnt know. -
Not that it is really anything to do with you but when I am told a car will be held for me and I organise the money within the time frame, I dont expect it to be sold. If I came back a month later fair enough but I came back within a week to let him know. And yes I was a bit jealous as I really liked the car. I had organised the money from overseas as I didnt have the funds here immediately but in any case I spoke to Yangfan on one day and viewed the car the next morning so even if the cash was here, I couldnt have accessed it that quickly. I also at no point put down the cars down as in both cases they were good hence why I wanted to buy them
-
The only time waster is you Yangfan! I don't want anything more directed at me. You wasted my time after I organised the money for the blue one even though you said "I hold for 2 weeks for you" I let you know from the UK that I have the money after 1 week "I sold blue skyline" You are the time waster not me. I didnt want to mention the above as Yangfan appologised eventually for being as @ss but seeing as he is happy to continue insinuating, I am happy to post the facts! For the record, Allblitz was able to answer all my questions I put to Yangfan in about 2 PM's both clearly and concisely as well as being polite.
-
I have the option of the day off as I was going to go up with Chrisnichollis :chairshot If there is a confirmed convoy going up in the evening I wouldnt mind tagging along there if possible although I dont know where the McMobil is.
-
Yangfan - what I can and can't afford is my business. I told you I would let you know within 24 hours when my g/f and I had, had chance to talk about it. You also have my phone number and email address. Like I told you this morning, I have a deposit for one. I have had my Lexus for sale so I have dealt with the questions like "does it have alloys mate" My questions to you were all legitimate ones to do with additional costs so I can work out if I can afford it. People will ask those. If anyone wants to buy this car, the only way they will get it is by showing up on his doorstep with full cash price and no questions as a) he wont hold it for you (will probably say he will though) and B) doesnt like any questions being asked. The only stupid one here is you Yangfan, dont screw people around. It is common knowledge on here that I am in the market for a skyline and I will ask the right questions before entering into a deal. I will also have any vehicle inspected and if you don't like any of those, it is your loss. The skyline market is a buyers market. My mistake was taking a morning off work unpaid to visit you and inspect the blue skyline and then using my petrol and time to come and view the red one yesterday, only to be shafted by you on both. Oh and good luck with your sale on here now people can see what you are really like
-
For the record, the above post is aimed at me. Yangfan very kindly sold the blue GTST he had on here whilst I was away despite saying he would hold it for 2 weeks so I could organise the money. Upon agreeing on our differences, I went to view this one yesterday and said I would let him know my decision after talking to my g/f yesterday afternoon or today. I come on this morning to talk to him and see it has been bumped before I can even talk to him. Despite putting all this aside and wanting to know additional costs involved with buying an unregistered car all I get is "no deposit - no deal" I have his required deposit but not being from oz and only having ever bought one car from a dealer I don't know what else to budget for. This man is very impatiant and un-coperative so deal with him if you choose. Not a very good grasp of English either. Don't direct posts like the above at me Yangfan. I run a business and am very much aware of customers asking questions and needing either re-assuring or providing extra information.
