Do you drive a manual or an automatic car?
saff_cossie replied to TracidTrax's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Definately manual. Learnt in a manual and only ever owned manual until the Lexus which whilst it is nice to drive, it doesnt make the journey fun. -

An attempt at afterburner lights by the look of it, a hard look to achieve at the best of times. Skyline lights on all the models look good IMO already.

Count me in for both nights Bec please. See Snowy, I have put my confirmation in writing this time, no going back now! Oh and I will take the double room if no has requested already :lock:

so i started my car after about 2 and a half weeks
saff_cossie replied to doxximus's topic in Victoria
mine had a month at the container company in the UK while they stuffed about looking for paperwork that didnt exist and then 6 weeks on the boat here. Have friends with concours cars in the UK who regularly go 4-6 months in hibernation. They are better prepared for it, some even with special cocoons. -
That would be cosworth!:uh-huh: I only know of 1 in the UK, are there many up your way then?

Power NOT a factor with young drivers
saff_cossie replied to ossie_21's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Excellent Post. It doesnt hurt to wait and build experience, these cars are not being banned altogether, just the ownership being delayed. If I had a turbo at 17/18 I may well not be here. We all have dome some crazy things and some of us are here because we didnt have a turbo at that age. -
Sounds like an awesome weekend was had by all. Frost on the 32 in FunkyMonkey's pics isnt a common sight over here and I can definately say it is not missed! Cool pics and look forward to seeing some footage and more shots of the weekend. Shame I couldnt make it but will pencil in the next week ASAP! Anyone notice anything unusual about Snowy's post?! ..................It was on a weekend! Not seen one of those before Snowman. Does that mean you are all sorted at home now?

I think if you get one from England you might defeat the purpose as they wont be that cheap -
what have you named your car?
saff_cossie replied to GTR_NUTZ's topic in General Automotive Discussion
See below Came about with owning both and trying to explain what needed moving and which one I was going out in when I lived at my parents as we had 6 cars. Also the nickname for My MD and his son who both have the same name at my work which didnt impress them! -
Have just emailed a guy in the UK who builds a races minis for the quarter mile and while possible to do a 10.1 it would most likely need around 500bhp per tonne which is a little more than 150KW. Here is his response to 150KW: Only off a ****ing cliff doing a quarter mile downwards. With 200bhp or less the best mini quarter mile time i know of is 11.7 seconds. That was on drag hooisers, the car weighs less than HALF of what a standard mini does and it was the fastest FWD car in europe for several years. (belongs to my friend carl) That boy you are talking to has more chance of getting his car up his arse than getting it up the quarter that quick unless he is getting a tow off a top fueler or something!

Well done James, congratulations on the rebirth. Is this going to be a donor car or a replacement vehicle?

Get it, there will most probably never be another like it, ever!

I did this on one of my sierras. Predator - the thing that makes the clear bulb glow orange is the bubble thing you refer to, kind of an internal case. As the case omits an orange glow alone, the external cover can be changed from orange to clear. On some of the older cars the clear bulb doesnt have that orange bubble case thing and relies on just the plastic of the lens. That is why on some older holdens and fords the rear lights come accross as white/clear instead of red or orange.

I can see his point and he is probably thinking worst case scenario that his daughter could end up being the bread winner or worse sole provider for your child. However, life is too short to tip toe around and continuously act on the advice of others. The main person I feel you should consult and have respect for is your wife. If she says no, either strike a compromise or give in. The input of your father-in-law should also have no bearing on yours or her decision.

Parents going to buy me a Golf R32!
saff_cossie replied to OC's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Why are you posting on a skyline forum about a Golf R32? Surely a VW forum would be better, especially if you want advice. I have seen many and fortunate enough to have a mate who works for Audi in the UK so have been in a couple. Yes they are quick but at the stage I went in them, they were new on the market so teething problems had not even emerged. I would recommend you find a good VW forum to seek further information on the R32 -

Husnu - top reply, thank you very much. He didnt have a turban, just one of those wirey beards.

Interesting post Husnu (sorry can't remember exact spelling as you have changed your name!) This is not a dig or anything even similar at your religion, just a couple of questions as I am genuinely interested to see what a follower can explain. Will those lectures explain where the misconceptions have arisen from as I dont know other than the terriorists one? Have to word this one carefully as again no offence is intended at all. If I go into a shop wearing a hoodie on my own I get watched (fair enough as statistics speak). If I go out with my girlfriend into a designer shop, we sometimes get watched (again, young couple get watched closely) As I know where the terrorist misconception comes from and it is exactly that, a misconception. There are bad people in every religion. I recently flew into Melbourne from Singapore with several Indian passengers (no problems there), however I am an appalling flyer at the best of times for nerves (not terrorist related up until this flight as I have had it for years). One passenger in particular decided to stand at the exit door (normal for excercise) but hold on to the handle and switch his focus between the flight path TV, the manual overide setting and the door handle. He would stand there for blocks of 20mins roughly at a time. This made me and a lot of other passengers around us extremely nervous due to his appearance (related back to me wearing a hoodie, stereotypical). Do you think in the current climate he should have had a bit more consideration for his fellow passengers? As said earlier this is in no way a dig but interested to see if you have had to make any changes in recent years or whether you would have been comfortable with being a fellow passenger?

HELP, Regarding License Suspension and P plate bans!!
saff_cossie replied to habibskyline's topic in New South Wales
So basically you havent learnt from your previous run in's with the law? For what its worth, my g/f's bro is currently on "another" ban. He only has an old 626 but is unable to obey the law. First caught speeding by about 10K's so got a month ban. Then caught about 3 months later about 10K's over and got a 6 month ban. Now caught without a rear "p" plate and banned for a year. With Vic though, they took so long to send his notice through each time that it was always backdated so for instance in the 1 month ban, he only had a week to serve by the time it came through. No fines from what I know though on any. His parents have confiscated his keys so he doesnt do something like you did as he may well be tempted.
