  1. Good to meet those of you I had chance to chat to and well done to snowy for the win! Just need to buy a t-shirt now and find a suitable car to put the stickers on. Cheers for making the welcome a good one for us new members. Looking forward to the next meet.
  2. You will probably get a few guys on here replying mate That isnt huge money for one of these cars, I got rid of my uncomplied import for that kind of money and it needed a bit of work plus I needed to get rid of it. Have a look on carsales.com.au and carpoint.com.au and tradingpost.com.au for some ballpark figures. Another tip though, whatever your budget for insurance and the car, remember these cars need maintaining and things do go wrong with them so build that in too. HTH
  3. Full comp. At just under $600 its worth it. G/f is a p plater and I am rating one.
  4. We used to jet wash engine bays in one of my detailing jobs. Cover the fuse box (if under in the engine bay) and the alarm siren box. Quick flick over with a truck wash canister, then three times accross the bay with the jet wash to form not much more than a mist. We always left the engines running as it would be hopeless trying to start it if something got wet. Any idea of quantity of water or time spent purely on the engine bay with the jet wash? Seconds or minutes? Hope it sorts itself out mate
  5. Fair enough, thanks mate
  6. I could not believe the licensing system here compared to the UK when my g/f went for her test. Not only that but the lack of training needed to get through it. Those who say it isnt the movies like 2F 2F are the ones who can distinguish and dont do it, its the ones who can't are the problem. Personally I think it is too much power too young. There are exceptions to every rule and by and large this website is a prime example with very few crashes amongst members and stupid acts reported. Unfortunately this website forms a small minority of the car loving community. Better driver training, tougher testing, lower power cars (I mean 50bhp low, not 125KW per tonne) are a start. As others have said, our parents did things that were similar but it seems to be becoming almost a fashion now sadly.
  7. whats the minor price drop to mate? PM me if you dont want to say here
  8. I thought they were that much each not for a pair!
  9. Carrier pigeon? What do they weigh? I send a lot of stuff so could possibly give you a ballpark. Depending on size, I normally use the post office or my suitcase
  10. yes I am interested, currently looking for mine as well. Only had a quote from Autobarn of ballpark $120 which seems too cheap. Would rather pay for it to be done properly and not in purple. PM me if you go ahead. I have a Lexus if that makes any difference.
  11. We have no power but fortunately haev gas heating so fine for showers. Cat went a bit mad though, spent the night walking around on the tips of it claws with its back arched at nothing! Few trees down on beach road. Also a few sets of lights out. Balcombe Road and Nepean highway is but there were no police there when I left. Cars were fine and glad to see my hunt for a double garage paid off! Heard reports of people in the west turning round and going home as the west gate was a nightmare
  12. No worries mate
  13. hey man, was going to look at your site but your link doesnt work
  14. not clever really is it
  15. Lucky chap, just goes to show the bias between home grown cars and imports. Yes if it is defectable it should be done but how about all on a par not just imports
  16. Have a look at the post I put up a few weeks back about this. There was a useful link to a camera site on it.
  17. yeah my girlfriends bro is and has been accepted full time, just waiting for call up apparently.
  18. Recently been taken on permanently in the role I was contracting in. Employed as an IT Manager for a fairly large haulage firm. We cart things all over the eastern sea board of oz so if people do want anything transporting, PM me and I will see what they can do. (reminds me I was supposed to be getting a quote for someone!) Also run my own business which is Australian Electrics and Entertainment which supplies IT equipment and computer components to the public. Also DVD's and console games and networking equip. PM for that as well if anyone wants anything (Daniel, emailed the guy today and awaiting response)
  19. Would have to agree with the rant from Leewah. People should accept the consequences for their actions BUT I also believe the road rules and freedom for modification are too strict in this country. I also disagree with the lack of equality in who I personally have seen pulled over versus who I have seen drive badly.
  20. Cool, was just wondering as I am always on the look out for a good bike shop. Best one I go to at the moment is Terry Hammond in Highett Road next to the train station. Always has a good stock of bits and is local to me.
  21. Looks a very nice bike and sounds like a really good buy. I do a fair bit of racing and have been competing since 1996 in cross country. Where did you get it from if you dont mind me asking?
  22. Yeah PM me mate with the above details and I will see what I can do. No reason why not mate though.
  23. Good on you for confronting the skyline driver as you can bet if he does it there, he will do it elsewhere. You are braver than me out the front of your own house though incase they come back with 10 of their 17 year old mates.
  24. Let me know more details, i.e colour, budget, size and make and I can see what I can do. Can get most makes and will do you a good price. PM me if interested.
  25. Mine was unregistered so I had an unregistered permit for it to be driven on the road. My plates were on record with Vic Roads as the form of ID for the permit. Assuming you have a permit, they would be tracked that way. If not then there is no way of catching up especially if it has been officially exported from another country. Sorry above info for an unregistered imported car not just a normal unregistered car.
