  1. Do you have any more pics? That second lot are really good as well, you must be more than just the average holiday photographer! You look like you took a picture of everything including the burger!
  2. Why is there the ad at the moment with the horse in the desert advertising Shell as the preferred option for Australian Premium fuel users? If people such as ourselves dont use it who does but more importantly who rates it as decent fuel?
  3. How about a PC tower box from somewhere like Officeworks?
  4. Awesome pics there. That Mount Fuji one at the end could easily be in a brochure, it is that good. That three wheeler is British registered from the late 60's if I can read the bottom row of the plate correctly. Never seen one before in my life though! Great pics though man
  5. 2800 to 2500. Q1 Was that a shared container. Q2 Is this the Total cost instead of RORO Q3 Perth or another port No - Sole use of 20ft container. I think they only come in 20ft and 40ft. Depending on the company, some said you can only stack your belongings around the car, others said only in the car. In the end I went with one that said in the car and am glad I did as the amount of condensation in the containers is horrendous due to the climate changes etc that the ships go through. That also included collection and delivery to the docks in the UK but only as far as the wharf at this end. Q2 - Yes total cost not including taxes. i.e I paid my 2800 which included insurance and the use of the container and straps to hold the car down. Q3 - Was to Melbourne. Company I used was Anglo Pacific which is also their website I think. Were very cheap but a bit poor on the communication and knowledge front. HTH
  6. Good one this. I used a container and I also have a contact at the clearance company. I stated when I shipped it from London that it was not to be opened without me (incase of needing to make an insurance claim, I wanted to know where the blame would lay). When it was at the quarantine place (first port of call off the ship), I got a call to come down. To get it through without it being opened they had been told it had a padlock on and I had the key. I turned up and they got it down with the giant forklift thing and no one there could understand why it hadnt been opened as there was no padlock! Anyway, they opened it there in front of me and I was allowed to wander round the car and look inside but not take anything. I also contacted the clearance company prior to it arriving to state it was not to be opened. About $2800 for mine. HTH
  7. I would have said this will be OK. Email [email protected] if you are not sure. They were really helpful with my queries and always respond promptly. Used to see plenty of these back home in the UK but not many here.
  8. I do remember a thread on this as I was told to use BP ultimate or Esso 8000 over here for my cossie. However Shell Optimax was the preferred one in the UK. Have heard that Shell here is dirtier than the rival Premiums
  9. The BP website details all the stations they have and what each one has like fuels, cafe etc. Probably similar for the other fuel companies.
  10. Man if they could get a guy who doesnt sound like he smokes 100 a day, I might be able to hear him!
  11. Mate I don't think Mrs Dale has the R34 anymore but I am sure Mr Dale can confirm. Hope you get it sorted. Why insurance if you dont mind me asking. Do they want to inspect the vehicle or something?
  12. SS8_Gohan - Thats what they said on Nova last week so just assumed they were on from that. I know they were very late. I think we can expect a lot more rear end shunts as people dive on the brakes instead of accelerating through the amber. Don't personally agree with them both together. Each on their own is fine though in the right place.
  13. I just thought they were not active so didnt register anything?
  14. they were only switched on about a week ago hence the post but think they have been present for some months, just not live. will have a look at the site, thanks JAPCAB
  15. Mate you have a declared value of $57,000 US, I take it that is a type on your part here not what is on the customs docs? I was stung the same way when I bought my car in and car bits in it. The customs broker called up and started chatting about what was in the car and the values, he said "this isnt for tax purposes" so I gladly told him as I felt an obligation to. I recieve the invoice for the customs and I have been taxed on all the car bits. Fortunately they were not for me and the other guy didnt mind paying. Paid nearly $3000 in tax all up for my stuff.
  16. Hi all Does anyone have a website or locations of the Red Light Speed Cameras? I think I remember a while back someone posting a link to a site with all normal speed cameras on. Thought it could be useful for all of us, not that I am condoning anything
  17. I think the db rating is 93 max for road legal as mine was borderline from memory.
  18. I also thought it was illegal to have two policies on the same car as others have said. Would be interested to hear if it is not though. I am sure I have been asked this question when inquiring about insurance for cars before on the phone.
  19. I would wait. My company wouldnt actually load it without the approval anyway. The guy who was doing my clearing at this end said absolutely do not do it even if you have the option to as it the costs and hassle incurred at this end if it doesnt work out such as storage, maybe even disposal. Not worth the risk IMO.
  20. Was wondering the same as I want a bodykit from them. Good to know, cheers
  21. The problem will take a long time to overcome as to achieve a satisfactory out come will take years. Here is why (similar to another post of mine on another thread) Small cars with small non turbocharged engines should be the start - no more than 1200cc. The problem here is the lack of Australian built ones of these from years gone by. There are hardly any. If this was enforced, sure there are Excels and Festivas but what does that do for aussie jobs. Big powerful car, even just a powerful car = more confidence on the road. Whether you choose to use that confidence is what seperates the moorons from the sensible ones. Trouble is at 18, 19, 20 that can be hard to resist. Insurance companies that say we will insure you for XXXX figure rather than clear off and wait until you are 25. Most of us on here think souped up excels look shite including myself but that is what young drivers should be doing. Bodywork modifications to a small engined car. I dont begrudge a young driver modifying his/her car as I have been there but limit it to non performance enhancing mods. Looks yes, performance no. Get some years under their belts and get a high performance when their head has cooled down a bit.
  22. I feel licencing does hold part of the problem, having watched my girlfriend go through her test in Vic. The examiner told her he would be watching out for her obeying stop signs, keeping out of cycle lanes and observing traffic around her. I couldnt believe this when I heard it! I did my test in the UK and resat the theory here and the things I have seen here that young drivers are taught scare me. The main one being drivers taught to move to the shortest queue at traffic lights to keep the traffic from banking up, never mind if it halves someone elses braking distance in the mean time. The reason I dont think reducing engine size will be successful is because there are not enough small engined cars produced locally to sustain it. The market value for the old commodores and falcons would fall through the floor. If more barina and festiva/fiesta vehicles were produced or had been produced, it could be viable I feel.
  23. Man benl1981 you have a habit of saying the right thing! Good work man! It is too late to find out they are a crap driver once they have killed someone. They are not exactly black listed from their test and haev tabs kept on them. Smaller engine - generally equals less power and speed in the event of an accident. Ban the insurance companies insuring these people at whatever cost which should cut it down a lot. Of course people will still joy ride and there will be idiots at any age. I typed a good response yesterday but the bloody browser crashed!
  24. Just spotted this thread and I have heard bad things about them as well. For some reason an old boss of mine was insured with them on his BMW a while back. He made a claim and they went over his whole car with a fine tooth comb and found one tyre was slightly under minimum for a road worthy and refused a payout. It was a 40,000 claim as well. While the car may not have technically been legal with that tyre, if there is no mandatory testing how can joe public expect to know? He rated there policy as "guilty until proven innocent" which is what a few others have said here as well.
