I think Pats intentions are good and he believes what he says, and without being offensive, its guys like Pat that forced me out of gyms in the 90's and had me training at home. Now that I have PTC gyms around, information like Pats doesnt effect anyone, because everyone in there is trying to get stronger, not worry where their chin is. Far too many who lifted too little are trying to tell far to many who lifted a lot how to do things. I never tell a "bodybuilder" how to lift unless he ASKS me. I'll get Martin to contact you for some tips on how he can do better at his SPORT, Pat. Until he does though, I'll keep coaching my powerlifters to more titles and world records, if its okay with you.

lol

You know who else feels sorry for his back, the guy that used to have the junior World Record before Martin smashed it lol You know Martin has WR in powerlifting........right?

Okay, I'm rowing now, see how I stay down and pull the bar to my belly not my chest, perfect form, I have 140kg on the bar and I'm knocking out 8's I recommend the heel, but proper footwear (heeled lifting shoe) is much better, around $120

Use your imagination. Stuff like feta or anchovies in tuna salads or chicken salads really help, as well as fresh chillies Scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, anchovies, chillies, onion Chicken and vegetable soup

I would have her doing 3 sets each of squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press, SLDL, curls and rows. If she does that 3 x week and really pushes to add weight most sessions, as long as she doesnt consume too many empty calories she'll do well
-
For such a light bodyweight you're pretty fat, most guys that light are quite lean. You have an issue in that you have to be careful with the calories, and I have no idea what youre eating, but eat enough protein to build some muscle Because I dont know what weights your lifting I cant comment on your program. For me to put a client on that, one that weighs 74kg, he would be squatting 150kg, benching 110kg, deadlifting 200kg, military pressing 60kg The workout seems a bit lame regardless Most sessions between 13 and 9 sets, pretty soft considering the exercises, especially Day 4, I'm not calling that a session Oh, and join a gym if youre serious unless your going to spend the bucks and have a proper set up The effort you put out, in everything you do, will be reflected in the outcome, I mean intensity, equipment, discipline. Good luck big fella

This grip thing is quite amusing. Obviously that guy trains in a gym where lots of people use them and get good results, so he is for them, nothing wrong with that at all. I have a gym where no one wears them, so I am against them. Now I dont know what kind of weights the members at his gym lift, so I cant comment, but I do know what guys at my gym lift without them 310kg - Jack Pollard 300kg - Zoran Jankovski 290kg - Martin Nguyen 287.5kg - Nick Rankin 275kg - Daniel America 267.5kg - Nick Haralambopoulos 260kg - Max Markopoulos 260kg - Spiros Markopoulos 245kg - Conor Zyskowski 240kg - Alen Pezerovic 240kg - Lee Gamble Way more, but you get the point. Dont assume everyone needs straps, let lifters choose, but its only fair to show them if you train correctly over a long period you wont need them. If your concern is reps, here is Martin deadlifting triple bodyweight for 6 reps without grip issues

Eliminate man made carbs, eat mainly lean protein, eggs, oats, cottage cheese, vegetables, milk, cheese, nuts In regards to training, 3 x week Squat 3 x 15 Bench 3 x 7 Bent rows 3 x 7 Military press 3 x 7 Stiff leg deadliest 2 x15 You must add weight everytime you achieve the rep/set scheme. When you can squat 80kg for 3 sets of 15, go to 85kg and do 3 sets, aim for 15, if you only get 12, get 13 next time Your workout must be progressive
-
Those exercises are fine, his biggest challenge sounds like effort and discipline, hard to teach
-
Bracing for your belly, you can push hard against it

The day is getting closer where I hold an exclusive SAU strength comp, not a PL meet Bodyweight reps type stuff etc
-
Your right. In 4 weeks I have GPC event here, over 30 lifters, make a day of it, would be great to meet you. A couple of SAU members will be competing

lol PTC is not a scary place, quite the opposite actually
-
Good question. Max deadlifted 240kg before a belt, Martin 272.5kg, Zoran 280kg. They have now obviously added belts. Konstantinov doesnt like them for deeds, he has pulled 426kg without one but wears one on squats. I say try one and see if you like it

Read this mate http://ptcfrankston.com/doc/newsletter/PTC_Newsletter_IssueNo37.html
-
In my opinion bodypart workouts are useless unless you are a competing bodybuilder, so my advice is work out what you want to achieve, then I can give you better training advice
-
Bozo, seriously, if I was you I would just do whats in the newsletters, they were written for guys like you. I havent had clients like that since late 2010/2011. Not being disrespectful, but my client base has shifted a lot, hence my last 50 newsletters are nothing like my first 50. Follow that advice and you will be leaner and stronger. The biggest difference is, back then a 180kg squat was insanely strong, now teens weighing 66kg are doing it. So what you regard strong is easily manageable by what is in those early newsletters. I hope that explains, and remember, the majority of people reading the newsletters read them from issue 1 to issue 180, not started after I wrote issue 180 and went back 6 years to issue 1

When I go home I'll check, but I may have 2 x 50lb (22.6kg) plates you can have for free, I was using them as balast for the kids basketball ring Pick up only
-
I dont have a single lifter at PTC who has ever dropped a bar or missed a lift in competition because of grip, and we never use straps. Maybe were just not strong enough Pat
-
When I opened PTC, I gave away 7 standard bars and well over 1000kg of standard plates as I converted everything to 2" hole. I had been collecting since 1992. Sorry.

Stelian weighed in at 89kg, with the help of a 24hr weigh in, was closer to 94kg on the day, and yes, since June 14 PTC Method is much more advanced than PPP, its the last step, its individualised. Max has everyones workout for the day in his iPad Beginners 5x5 PPP PTC Method

Better plates or better price?
