  1. Thanks guys, Turned out the AFM just needed a good clean which, coincidently, is a far cheaper problem than bent valves would have been. I am amazed though that a little bit of errant road grime could cause such a massive and sudden effect.
  2. I have since resolved this issue, I ended up rebuilding the power steering pump with new bearings. but the issue with the HICAS was actually related to a dead alternator.
  3. Hi all, My r32 started acting up today and I wanted to see if anyone has had similar symptoms before pulling things apart. The car is difficult to start and needs a little pumping of the accelerator to get it going. It 'hunts' at idle from 500 to 1000rpm on about a 1sec cycle but only when in nuetral or park. when in gear it idles smoothly at around 800rpm as it always has. I can accellerate very very very slowly (trucks full of soil pull away from me) and get to about 70kph. if i put my foot down even the slightest bit it cuts out and sounds like the air intake has been blocked. Tends to cut out after about 20mins, in the way it would if it had no fuel The issue first started when stuck in very heavy traffic. My guesses are injectors, MAF, TPS. perhaps even fuel pressure reg, but i doubt that one. Hopefully it's not something internal like a bent valve. Cheers, ROB.
  4. Hello everyone, While this topic doesn't quite fit under suspension and brakes I figured steering associates the best with handling since there is nothing specific for steering. Anyway, I have an R32 gts4 (HICAS) skyline and the power steering pump is making quite a lot of noise, I doubt it will hold together much longer. The issue is that I can't find a new one, genuine or aftermarket. Granted I have only started looking today but I was hoping someone here might have an idea of where best to look, or know of any aftermarket parts that can do the job with little conversion. Cheers, Rob. EDIT: that's the RB20DET engine.
