  1. Yeah a tune would definitely help. But running stock sensors and ecu it should idle correctly I'd think. Unless there is a vac leak I can't see somewhere which would make sense
  2. Was just idling for about 30 seconds perfectly then starred to die off running low
  3. Was only replacing to get a tune and now would like to rectify all problems before I go ahead wasting tuners time
  4. Stock engine. Compression is 160 across the board. Upgraded turbo around 140k
  5. Cars only running 5psi have barely driven it since I did highmount
  6. My r32 with rb25 conversion won't idle after doing a highmount conversion. It will rev fine and pull great. Light throttle coasting it will miss and carry on and it won't idle at all, just dies. I tried different afm. Cleaned aac. Checked all cooler pipes. Checked vac lines that I can see. Took Bov off and blocked vac lines. it idled before I did highmount swap
  7. ill check all that tomorrow, the only reason i replaced the turbo is because i thought the original turbo was shot as it was blowing smoke then, new turbo hasnt cured it which is shitting me
  8. it has a brand new turbo on it with 1.2mm restricter, what are the signs of bad valve stems? ill give it a boot full and it will blow a shitload of blue smoke on hard acceleration, but if i keep boosting it the smoke gradually gets less and less, so pretty much the more i flog it the less it smokes so to speak (no i dont flog it all the time lol) which leads me to believe its valves as theres no time for vacuum to draw oil through the seals.... but theres no smoke on start up or just putting around under say 3.5k rpm
  9. My rb25 is blowing a fair amount of blue smoke under hard acceleration. I did a compression test and it came up 160 across all 6. There is no smoke on idle or slight revving only when I give it a good rev. I replaced the turbo with a brand new one and the return doesn't seem clogged or anything. Has all brand new feed and returns. Also I don't have a down pipe on it at the moment and it doesn't make full boost until about 5500 or so on a t04e. The blow off valve doesn't go off and there is no sound of releasing pressure when off the throttle. All cooler pipes are tight. What would be the cause of excessive blue smoke?
  10. how do you test pcv valve? i read up about it and how it works but am not familiar with checking it etc, the engine runs great and has great compression which leaves me to think its a healthy engine
  11. dipstick hasnt blown out, and the oil before the turbo is in the pipe with the AFM in it. was only a thin layer, also there was oil after the turbo in the cooler piping, could wipe it with my finger and my finger would be black
  12. Also the turbo sounds like it'd a ball bearing. And has a whine hiss noise on vacuum just coasting at low throttle. Can hear the whine once cars shut off too. Has a small amount of play in and out
  13. No oil comes from oil filler hole. Is a bit of oil before turbo but nothing crazy just a light film. And only blows oil on boost. Can rev it to red line without boosting with no oil use. using standard breather set up
  14. My rb25 is burning a fair amount of oil. Probably 1 liter per 500 km. I did a compression test and all were 160 give or take a few psi. Wet test came up sell cylinder increased. So rings and valves appear to be good. Turbo is standard and sounds odd. Like a big laggy ball bearing turbo. It blows blue smoke on boost but doesn't if not boosting. Car runs fine and pulls great except is rather laggy. Turbo is shot? Old owner claims it only has 10k on it. Thanks
  15. My car has started blowing blue smoke only on boost when I give it a little bit. The turbo makes a very odd whine hiss spool in vacuum and can hear it makin this whine once the car shuts off for a second. It also is quite laggy considering stock turbo. I took the front piping off and there was like a thin film of oil in it and the shaft play moves in and out about 1-2mm. I did a compression test and got 150, 150, 160, 140, 160, 160. Number 4 cylinder had gunk In the thread and it didn't tighten in fully. So compression is good. It also runs mint, apart from being a little laggy and sluggish.
