Hi guys, I see a lot of kits available to delete ABS. Has anyone done it and regretted it or is it that bad in original form that you don't miss it at all? Tossing up getting rid of mine to tidy up engine bay. It's been that long since I drove mine and don't recall ever activating ABS to know if it was any good! Thanks guys!

How to disassemble RB26 throttle linkage?

Mine is still in bits as I've gone drive by wire. Really should it back together at some point... -
GTR I just got one!

The only thing better than new parts and that’s old parts made look new again! Really interested to see the long term durability of the ceracote. -
500 killer wasps is where the fun begins! Awesome stuff, it must be insanely fun (scary) with that much power in a RWD car!

Got my lower timing cover painted. I think I've lost the art of wrinkle coating but ah well, I like the textured finish it ended up as. The top coming cover is a bit shit but I'm not sure I have the patience to strip it down and redo it at the moment... I'm going to add a timing pointer to the lower cover to make finding top dead centre easier and more accurate. -

Cheers mate. Slowly getting there. Very good point regarding the studs. I'd love to think once it's on it'll stay on but we all know that aint the truth! -
Hi mate, yep putting in a mechanical LSD out of a non V-Spec. I really don't think there is any other options other than what came with the vehicles which is pretty surprising. Surely someone can make a custom one that is relatively affordable? The genuine mechanical LSD's are worth a fortune nowadays so glad I have one... The one I bought 8 or 9 years ago the guy thought it was stuffed so I only paid about $200 for it. I had it checked over and reco'd by my diff guy and he said it's perfect! Yeah the build is VERY slowly progressing but slowly is better than not at all I guess! 😁

Pretty lazy day today. Put the first coat of wrinkle finish paint on the newly extended lower timing belt cover. I'll put at least one more coat on before I fit it. I threw another coat over the top cover as well as it had a few chips from bouncing around the shed for the last 7 years... Fit up a few bits and pieces (thermostat housing, A/C bracket, timing belt, etc) and then trial fit the intake just to see how it looks and work out what else I'll need to modify. A bit disappointingly the manifold flange is warped so I'll need to get it machined which is a pain. I've re-purposed the exhaust side studs (which I replaced for titanium studs) on the intake side so they will be all studs instead of bolts. A few little issues to work through but we're getting there slowly. Not sure if this gives an idea of the fitment and width of the rims but they look fat! This photo reminds me how shit my rear bumper is.... That's a problem for another day... -

Yeah definitely don’t need spacers, I’m slightly worried that they’re too far out as they are. Even though I dislike the stretched look I may have to run a slightly under square tyre to tuck in at the top. When I’m ready I might fit up one tyre to check to see how it goes for fitment. -

Another hot day in the shed yesterday. Over 40 degrees in the shed so I reckon I've lost a few kgs in sweat the last few days. Looking trim for Stereo... (the kids will get it....) Rather than be productive on the car I decided to make my K-Frame/Engine stand mobile.... Added permanent legs and caster wheels that will make it a bit easier to move around once the engine is sitting on it. Once I'm ready to bolt up the tranny I'll make another little dolly to roll around under the transfer case and support the back. I'll make it out of a spare bottle jack that I've got so I can adjust the height. Anyway, boring shit but at least I can say I didn't waste all of new years day... I've started the year off well in terms of actually doing something in the shed so we'll take that as a positive! Whacked one of the new wheels on to check fitment and although hard to guage properly without a tyre I think it looks amazing! Spacing relative to the guards looks perfect. -
Mil-Spec / Autosport Circular Connector Location on Firewall
Shoota_77 replied to JarrettL's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I’ve only just got my 2 connectors (47 pin deutsch) so haven’t done it yet but my plan is to replace the factory grommet with one and putting another one just below the brake booster on the drivers side. I’m running drive by wire so will need extra wiring in that area so makes sense to relocate some of the wiring across that side at the same time. My aim is to have no wiring across the back of the firewall at all (would like to take coil wiring across to drivers side loom as well) but we’ll see what happens…. -
Personally I love it when my hose is lubed... It's generally a good day when my hose gets lubed.

Braved the 40 degree heat today and had a crack at extending my lower timing belt cover to suit the taller RB30 block. Suffice to say I was starting from a questionable position... Gave it a sandblast to tidy it up then fit the upper and lower covers to see what I was working with. Made some crude measurements and cut up a piece of rusty sheet metal I've had laying around the shed for 10 years just waiting for a day like today! In reality it was just a heap of trial and error with the getting the angles of the folds straight then just kept measuring, bending and grinding until it looked pretty good. clamped it together with vise grips then tig welded it across the back. I ran out of TIG filler so just fusion welded it. It's ugly as aids but hidden so meh! Had to do a little bit more tidying up to get the top cover to fit but overall, fairly straightforward. Before you mention it, yes I know you can buy one but they're made of stainless rather than mild steel like the rest of it and if I can make it myself for $0 then why not? 🤷♂️ Hopefully powdercoat it over the next few days and job done! -

Ha ha, so he tells me! 😂😂 I can’t guarantee that I’ll use them but I’ll take good care of them! -
They’re like most specialty spanners ( S, C, stubby, ratcheting, high offset, etc) they’re shit for 95% of normal spanner jobs and absolutely essential for the 5% of situations where nothing else works. THAT is why you buy them, not for the presumption that 1 spanner fits all. I have a stupid amount of different spanner sets now of which I will probably only use about 10% of but I’m sure you’ve been in a situation where nothing fits and it sucks balls. I’ve wasted hundreds of dollars to avoid that incredibly rare situation but I think I just like collecting spanners! 😂 I should take a pic of all my different sets as I think I might even scare myself once I laid them all out….

Picked up my wheels on the way back from Sydney today. OMFG they're fu(#in stunning! I'm in love with an inanimate object... Photos DO NOT do them justice, they look so much better in person. 😍😍 Can't wait to get them on the car even without boots just to get a feel for how they will look. -

It’s just dumb to have such similar designs that are only half compatible… This is my latest tool “investment“. I’ll use them for everything I’m assembling that I take photos of to put on Insta (ie. nothing….) On Project Binki they call them the “show spanners!” I’ve wanted them for ages so finally convinced myself they’re worth it when they’re actually totally not but meh. 🤷🏼♂️

Awesome to see someone actually get their Skyline out and enjoy it! Looks like she was quite the handful on the wet track, quite the butt puckering experience!

Cheers mate, yeah it definitely felt like a defining moment to get the head back on and torqued down. On that note, I forgot how tight 135Nm feels like when you're torqueing down a head!! It feels like you're at the limit of the poor old studs even though I'm sure there's plenty left in them it still feels like they're about to let go at any moment! I'm heading up north (Balina/Coffs Harbour/Nambucca/etc) with the family (god help me....) on Monday so will be out of action for a few weeks. That actually sucks as now that I'm getting some traction I want to keep the wheels turning but this slams on the brakes again! I've got a few days off after we get back so hopefully i can get a few things done. Should be able to finish off the engine and get it sitting in my cradle I made ready to start thinking about sliding it back in.... Still have to buy a couple more things before I can say I pretty much have everything I need - Frenchy's In Tank Fuel Sytem and Haltech EGT sensors and then apart from little shit you never think of (fittings, hoses, sequential gearboxes, etc...) I'm pretty much done buying big stuff. For now. The big dilemma I'm fighting with at the moment is re-wiring the engine bay. I've got extra wiring to add in for stuff I've added (EGT's, drive by wire setup, etc) so while I'm at it I'm really tempted to run two bulkhead fittings (one each side) to run wiring though. I've got so many wires running through the grommet already it's a battle to get any more through. Running 1 per side would firstly make it heaps neater and would make pulling the wiring out so much easier but obviously means a lot more dicking around rewiring the whole bloody thing as I would have to extend the majority of the wires particularly the ones running across to the drivers side to go out through that connector. Has anyone dabbled with this before? Would be interested to see any other examples or variations to this. These are similar to the fittings I have- -

Nope, that's being saved for round 2! I'm trying to keep on track to finish it off and doing things like that are only going to stretch it out way longer than they should. Hard to believe that I've owned my car 10 years in Jan next year.... It's been a bumpy 10 years I can tell you! Hopefully the 10th year is the best year and I finally get to enjoy it again after waaaaay too long! 😁 -

Little bit of work done over the weekend. Replaced the original cam cap bolts with Tomei studs and nuts (to be able to fit oil splash plates anywhere within the cam cover). Not a sexy job but took a while! Fit the PRP dual oil/coolant head drain. I previously had a different one on there so had to grub screw the original holes I'd put in the head for that one. The PRP one fits nice and looks good. Head is back on and all torqued up. Let me tell you that felt like a real step in the right direction! She's looking like an engine now! Decided to see if I could run the Boost Doc splash plates and the factory cam cover baffles as well. Surely the more shit in there to keep oil out of the breathers the better right!!! 😅 Lots of measuring, drilling, die grinding and refitting to work out what material needed to be removed. Seems to be all good now, cam covers bolt down without hitting anything which was the plan! To save a bit of time I was able to trace the holes from the test side onto the other side which made life a lot easier. Only time will tell if it's actually effective. I'll put some foam in there as well to slow the oil down. -

Snapped up some new slippers for my princess today. Pretty bloody excited about them to be honest! I've been chipping away at my car slowly as it is but hopefully these stunners keep me motivated to keep churning so I get to see it sitting on them rolling out the driveway before I die! I saw the wheels on Facebook and instantly fell in love with them. Procrastinated for a week then decided to try and sell my R34 GT-R wheels first before I committed to these. Sold the GT-R wheels pretty quick so jumped on the Advan GT's before I missed out. Won't see them until late December when I drive back through Sydney to pick them up. Knowing myself I will look at these pictures 5 times per day until then!! 😂
