  1. If you weren't already aware today was the global launch of the forthcoming 370Z replacement (400Z??). I REALLY like it but I haven't quite come to terms with the front grill/air dam section of the car yet. I can't quite put my finger on it but it's either too big or too square or a combination of the two. I'm sure it will grow on me in time. Other than that the side profile is amazing. Such beautiful flowing lines. Amazingly it'll come standard with a 6 speed manual which is a surprise. I honestly reckon more people will love the idea of that than the reality of it and most sold will be autos. Time will tell on that! This is a sacrilegeous statement but I honestly don't know if I'd get manual or auto. Depends what I decided I was buying the car for. If it was for track days then definitely manual. If just for a Sunday cruiser I'd definitely consider the auto if it was a good one. All in all I think they're absolutely on to a winner, it's a stunning looking car and hopefully with matching performance from the twin turbo V6. I can't see anything official about engine yet. I think they'll keep that for a later announcement to keep some info up their sleeves. What does everyone else think?
  2. Maybe the pool can be underground storage for more parts when the shed goes over the top?
  3. What sort of pool do you recommend?
  4. Nice! If my aspirations of pool ownership subside I’d definitely go the PPG route too. ? Cant wait to hear what you think of it.
  5. Shepparton, Victoria. You can have mine for $75 posted.
  6. I've got a functioning one. Where are you?
  7. The second gearbox is fully stripped and the counter and main shafts have been robbed out of it. The second box is a lot older but the shafts look to be basically identical so hopefully no dramas there. Everything is cleaned up, wrapped in packing paper and sent off to Neat Gearboxes in Adelaide for surface treatment and then reassembly. I'm actually going to get them to reassemble the gears and shafts back into the centre plate just to make sure its done right. Can't believe I'll be paying someone to do something.... God dam there is some weight in just the gearbox parts BTW! All up the inner workings of the gearbox (so just the centre plate, no housings and no transfer case) weighed in at 36kgs if anyone ever needed to know! I ended up buying a tough storage box from Bunnings as the arse would have fallen out of a cardboard box. That wouldn't be great half way between here and Adelaide... Hopefully they'll only be a few weeks with it so I can get it back, slap the housings back on and transfer case back on and in she goes! My diff guy is still laying low so I'll find out what he's up to so I can have the sump back on and engine all back together ready to bolt the tranny back on straight away. Nothing worse than a loose tranny.... Still need to weld a fitting into the manifold for the pressure sensor to be able to measure Emaps. At this rate it might be nearly back to driveable by Christmas. Only 12 months later than the last time it was nearly ready. Surely not.....
  8. You stalker @PranK!!! Ha ha. Buy yes, what a stunning car!
  9. The Skyline is great but the A5 is stunning!! It looks absolutely amazing!
  10. You can have a little bit of the credit! Not too much though....
  11. It worked!!! The rudest, ugliest tool even seen on the face of this planet has succeeded! ?? Got all of the proceeding gears and bearings pulled off the second gearbox to gain access to the now infamous bloody inner bearing race. Lined everything up so I could get all of the spacing right then welded the monstrosity together. With great expectations (and even more pessimism) I assembled the puller with my $9.45 worth of (3) 5mm drill bits and attacked it with the rattle gun. Off she came! It was a very pleasurable experience! Should get the rest of it stripped apart to rob the shafts out during the week. I think I'm starting to understand where my noise was coming from in this gearbox.... No idea how they managed to do this whenever it was last rebuilt but its bloody ugly!
  12. Must have fallen off? Manifold and gate are there, just nothing to go whooshka.
  13. It’s definitely on the cards! ?
  14. We've all copped a free seat upgrade from economy to first class ??. Living like kings now....
  15. Seeing we're being nostalgic I test drove a silver R33 GTR when I was looking for mine. It had a few rattles so I turned it down.... The $12K he was asking for it was preposterous! Why TF didn't I just buy it and throw it up the back of mum and dads house for 5 years??!! It's probably worth $40K now with nothing done to it!
  16. Yeah they've been rising steadily but 100% Covid has had an effect on pricing. I've been keeping a pretty close eye on R34 coupes for the last 6 months dreaming that I'd get one as a daily and I've noticed that they've jumped massively the last 5-6 months. Good luck finding a turbo R34 Coupe under $25K now. Even non turbos are gone from the market that were there earlier in the year.
  17. Mate you need to get over this BMW thing! I can't stand the bloody things! I'd rather the Skyline all day! Yeah they're expensive to own but nothing compared to a BMW that has conveniently just run out of warranty! There is pretty much not one BMW I would choose over a Skyline (dollar for dollar). A $100K Skyline makes a $100K BMW cry in shame! As a track car they're possibly able to be lived with but I just find them so hard to find enjoyable as a road car. They handle like a junkies eyeballs after a 3 day dry spell...
  18. This ISO bullshit has a lot to answer for!! The price of EVERYTHING has gone up. Crazy how expensive R33 and R34's have become the last few months! Used motorbikes have gone through the roof too. Everyone is spending more time at home on the couch bored shitless buying crap they can't even use.... Good if you're selling anything, not so good for buyers... @Dose Pipe Sutututu your car is now a highly valuable collectors item.
  19. Episode #13 of the most boring tool build ever recorded... Made some more mods to the puller. Found that 6mm threaded sleeves form a fairly nice guide for the 5mm drill bits to slide through. Drilled out the existing holes in the puller so the sleeves fit through. Put the new sleeve in position with the drill bits in place so when I welded it up they were perfectly aligned. After welding the drill bits still slide in and out nicely so fingers crossed all good! Just need to weld the two sections together as pictured and should be good to go. It looks like some crazy Asian Triad symbol or religious artefact ??. I'll hopefully get all of the first gearbox parts cleaned and ready for shipping off this weekend so the bench is cleared off for the next dismantle. Dirt bike ride up the hills tomorrow and hopefully I'll get peace and quiet on Sunday for fathers day so I can do what I want to do! Generally not how it works though as all fathers will know....
  20. Sorry gents, I have to clarify. I've been talking about diffs for the GT-R. I don't know of an aftermarket mechanical centre for those.
  21. It actually astounds me that no one has ever produced a readily available LSD centre to go into the viscous LSD housing (unless I've missed something???). A mechanical LSD diff housing is worth the GDP of a small African nation nowadays whereas a viscous LSD diff is worth a packet of Tim Tams and maybe a sneaky wristy no spit. The person who makes it happen economically is going to make a lot of money and all of a sudden a near worthless hunk of boat anchor is worth money again!
  22. Its time to start pulling the second gearbox to bits so I'm having one last crack at making my bearing race puller work. If it fails this time then I give up! ? Taking a slightly different approach this time make it into a puller itself rather than something a puller attaches to. I already feel like I should have used a bigger main bolt than an M12 but we'll see how we go. I'm going to give @Ben C34's idea of using drill bit shanks as the puller pins. Hopefully they're stronger than my shoddy home lathed bolts! Apart from the M12 bolt I just bought ($3...) its all just been scraps laying around (as you can see from the latest additions....) so minimal cost involved but I do enjoy tinkering with this sort of thing. Anything to whip the welder out and lay down some snot! Fingers crossed it all works or the angle grinder is coming out again! ?
  23. Ha ha, dad bods are where it's at! Love to say I've spent ISO getting rid of mine but no.....
  24. You bin workin' out? We can see your cleavage.
