Thanx G33..... On the job invoice mine is 'rated' @ 35%..........mmmm. It's a little lighter (in reality) to the rear and privacy glass. To avoid poor/low quality radio reception, Nissan would have had to (as Chris suggested) use a tint that contained no metal in it's makeup..for the rear glass. Maybe your 'rear window' tint is not a 'metalized' version? ....I just don't know enough about tinting materials. Yes..I reckon a silver tint finish on the glass would look shit-hot!!.....Hope you get it so I can see it!! Cheers.

yep, pretty ironic isn't it? It's now on the Un-cool wall. because..."it's a Nissan....."..unquote. Did u buy your V35 last year, around oct, nov, December? -
Thanks mate, The reception thing?... it makes good sense....so the standard tint that is already on there is plastic Chris..? I get great reception, so I guess that rear black window is plastic?

Just thought I'd pop these up, for your perusal. Just the doors were done, rest is factory. Done by Instant Screens, cnr Warrigul and Keys...(Always had my cars done here) Soz about the pic quality...camera phone!....actual quality appears pristine. Front and rear bumpers get re-sprayed next week...woohoo!....I want them perfect. I'm fussy.

superspit replied to superspit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Thanx Chris!...if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have got my ass into gear and actually attempt it...(the Yen thing scared me!) Yes, re-sealing...well....I thoroughly inspected the area of my boot for any traces of splash or oxid....couldn't find any, dry as a bone. So I taped her up.!......Honestly, if she fails I'll enjoy fixing it again...I have access to many robot arm servos!..lol!..(Z-axis drive motors). -

with a dwell/'action' of only <500ms (half a second), it luckily would create no issues if you were to wire it the wrong way, (gear damage wise)....it would just work in reverse....no internal 'gear callibration' was necessary either!....the gear either swings one way or the other..creating a push/pull action. PS. It's still working!!!..(it's had about 300 test 'actions' so far.)..I expect it to last a few years! -
hey!...you're a good fella!

The Snow Button/switch Question
superspit replied to Japav's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
.Bump....(for you) Is it a 4 door you have?.....(Is it a V35?) Either way, you won't hurt your car by using the button, but why would you leave it in that mode on std roads though.? Hope someone helps you with a more technical response! -

wow Yianni!!!...same place..! When did u get yours buddy?....is yours the silver one?....(I'm lazy and have done no searches on what you have). Yes, Frank (and Frank the mechanic) is/are refreshingly honest, .....nice peoples. Frank's not buying/importing too many cars nowadays, they've actually gone up in price, espesh the V35 units...(exchange rates)...He still does ok with compliancing and servicing, I believe. What actually (general question) is the 'borderline' for thrashing?.....is it to do with rpm per gear, locking up brakes, accel quickly, not having the car serviced, using the gearbox to slow down while at high speeds constantly???? I know it seems like an odd question, but I just wanted to touch base, and clarify my own interpretations!!..(I'm bored) Discuss..? -

superspit replied to T88turbo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
oh yes..ofcourse..there it is...how bloody stupid of me! Box?...it was just one of those things...the car is like new....I doubt it's been thrashed...(and I never thrash my cars) I guess even new cars fark up too...that's why we have warranties. (Apparently)...The input shaft roller/needle bearing(s) failed...it was just wiggling around in there...causing the slight elongation of the spigot bearing and other stuff...it seemed to stuff the flywheel up too...made a mess of some of the internals.....I can't remember the rest of the explanation....it seemed quite odd.....but one thing failed and seems to have caused a chain-reaction quite quickly. But at least I got a nice new aluminium flywheel out of it!..still getting use to it's 'action' though. 32000kms????...Yes...Rianto,....I thought/said the same thing, but with a few more expletives included.... These boxes are very strong Rianto, and I saw first hand my gear box pulled to bits....they are a heavy duty piece of engineering....BUT THEY ARE NATURALLY NOISY BOXES....all my past Jap imports have never had a 'quite' box, but then again, I've never broken one either. -

Hi T88, I'm not totally sure about your whole sitch....but I can tell you a little about mine.... I bought the car from an importer with the 24/7 option...it cost me $1980 for 12 months full cover. My box goes bung a couple of days into the ownership, haven't even had a chance to get it serviced(!)...so back it goes... (Lucky I have a little 95 Ford Festiva Bomb!). I get's' the call (why did I put an 's' in there) from Sydney (I'm in Melb) from a lady from 24/7..asking if I was the owner of the 'skyline' that was back at the shop...(she said 'skyline' as if I was a wanker or something, quite derogatory), then asked me 'how long I had had the car for prior to it failing'....(i guess she was trying to establish whether the dealer was being tricky)....whole lot of stuff happens, stuff happens, stuff happens...anyway(s). I pick up the car, Frank the guy who sold me the car is almost in tears....I said 'sup'...he said my car cost him alot of money......I drive off, and the car is ace. Yesterday, fuel door actuator f**ks up....(so I put up a post in the V35 section on how I fixed it).. I'm off now to re-install said actuator. good luck!...Touch wood! -
Fuel Flap Actuator Motor...my Exploded Views!
superspit replied to superspit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
REVISED WITH SUCCEESS!!! I managed to track down a nice little comparible DC motor, albeit rated at 24 volts, but still could easily pull the skin off the custard. I took it out of a robot arm servo ..(I asked him first before disconnecting it, he said that he'll live).. I had to grind the end of the motor's shaft, to 'key it, so as to allow fitment into the 'helix' drive gear. I cut back the brass contacts, and soldered the wires (with a ceramic cap across the input) to what was left of the contacts. Look, I'll show you my pics......but I'm very happy so far.....I'll install it tonite......along with a piece of string attached to the rear rail, just incase she jams up, and I can't be farrrked taking the trims back out to get to this little horror! All gears freshly greased....just hope I put pos and neg the right way 'round!!!...ooooops! That's the old (larger motor) pictured aswell.....the device 'aligns' itself quite well!...(you can have a fair amount of play within the helix and key drive), and she'll still go. Cheers. -

geeeesh.... my initial thoughts bring me back to 1 month ago...and hearing similar noises in all gears, only under load, (going up a hill or pushing hard), not so much from the engine bay, but more central....the sound also corresponded to the feeling in my clutch pedal and gear knob...(oscillated at the same noise/frequency rate) $4500 and 2 and a half weeks later, she's fixed!......thanx to a rebuilt gear box.!!!! Lucky I'm with 24/7 warranties!! -

yep...I hear ya Stephen.....I miss the times when I'd go to Radio Parts to by my Valves for my guitar amps and old radios (I'm not that old really), go through the STACKS of buckets and trays finding the shit that would really make something dreamy turn into reality, or make it work again...(or just plain let the smoke out of the box..which was fun too!) and that excited feeling I got just strolling through the reems of resistors and caps (on magazine tape), 555 timers, 749 op-amps...the smells, the quality staff that actually taught you something....the project kits..(everything from the electronic 'rolling dice' to the 'cricket insect'..amps, alarms, flip-flop/logic circuits...etc)....the groovy dyi mags......ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.......was it just me? ok..cool....reality check light....all ok. -
Fuel Flap Actuator Motor...my Exploded Views!
superspit replied to superspit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi Stepen.....thanx for your suggestion, but the issue is not one of 'seizure', or friction of any sort. I should've posted the pics of the motor's exploded view...... I have infact pulled apart the motor (going back to a job I had some 25 years ago..LOL!)....and found the commutator terminals (from the coils) were damaged... Also found the terminals to the brushes were OC.....Multimeter had confirmed open circuit prior to dissasembly, via power inputs.......blah blah blah.... So yeah....I'd love to get just the motor for it....it's looks like a very standard hobby motor, a little larger than normal, but certainly nothing special..(it does have a 'keyed output shaft for the 'helix' type drive')......the ceramic capacitor in there probably only serves as a 'spark/noise reducing' component....whatever.... I have a couple of choices now.... Go to Nissan, down the road......or go to one of the few remaining 'real' tronic houses....Jaycar...(seems that Dick Smith sells white goods now!..grrrrrrrrr!) I don't mind modding stuff like this...we'll see what happens. -
