hehehehe....cheeky bugger!...lol! It now has the 'notched' safety on reverse. New box, flywheel and clutch (and mother) are doing well. -
Common Problems With The Coupe
superspit replied to T88turbo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
First start up?..yes..same here...no issue with that, as it happens so rarely, and certainly doesn't mean impending doom. (I've also heard it on other V35's)....oh, I think it's more of a bumpety bump, minus the lower frequencies. That farking 'idle' rattle/ticking??....I got a new gearbox..(for lots of other reasons).....all good now....I believe that particular noise has to do more with the crazy/ over engineered flywheel the 35's have......inspect/look at a stock one if you ever get the chance....way too much going on with that design.!! -
After some experience with batts......I know this much...STAY AWAY FROM CALCIUM EXPANDED type cells!....They are ridiculous! Stick with the standard old-tech Lead Plate batts...(Century Lead still kicks ass!)..and get the biggest battery capacity you can fit into your car! Keep in mind the size of the posts (you may need small Jap terminals, positive post to the right, very important!) Hope that helps....Calcium can be a shit of a thing to keep charged, espesh trying to keep that magic eye (if applicable) in the green! Just my 2 cents guys.....do what works for you!

Price For A New V35 Alternator?
superspit replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
hey. thanx 4 the response. No batt light on dash, ever. I running one of those finnicky Calcium Plate Batts at the moment....I'm pulling it out and putting the old style back int there, today. But that won't solve the current leak issue.....so...I'll be disconnecting the batt when the car is not in use, until I get back to Tower Audio, and see what they have to say. I really hope it's not the Rec/Diode pack...it's under warranty, but the hassle is a hassle! Do you / anyone here know the approx C draw on a dodgey alt pack..just ball park....would it be around 300mA, or a lot less/more? Yes, my GPS is part of the entertainment system, hardwired into the car's elec's like any other radio.....but it only consumes enough power to keep the 'tracking' data/ sat-signal lock refreshed....ummm....apparently. Cheers people and to you ST. -
Price For A New V35 Alternator?
superspit replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi people....while we're on alt's, may I ask the following.... Has anyone had issue (V35) with back-leak of voltage with their alt? I've gone through 2 batteries now, and the car won't hold a charge for more than 2 days...old Batt wouldn't come back to life, my new one is dying every other day. I placed a multi-meter in series (current test mode) to the battery, and found it was drawing well over 300mA, with everything off, (including the boot light..lol!). I know my on board GPS draws a little current, but very little, as I tested it. I've had this issue since I've been off work (hospital, and resting up, hence little driving), and since I had my alarm/immob installed...it could well be that!....but until I go back to the installer I'll just be looking for your thoughts on V35 alt reliability or any issues you may have heard with busted diodes in the alt rectifier pack, with this model specifically? Charge is good, with over 14V being supplied to the batt on idle.....batt recharges very well and very quickly.....after I jump start her!..LOL! I thankyou for any thoughts you may have. -

yes.....a little something like that... and (incorrectly) attempting to engage reverse (by accident) at freeway speeds...(successfully). -

Having busted one (6M) within weeks of purchase....and now having a new one...I know this....they are heavy bloody things, even when on a trolley! lol! They are noisy/rattly bloody things too!...but they're strong, and should handle nominal power upgrades.....my mechanic agrees. As for that diff?.....pffffft...who knows? Hardly 'tech' words,..but hey, who gives a faaark! -
Common Problems With The Coupe

in the last 3 months....I've had 'fixed'.... Gearbox rebuild...$4000 Driver's door lock actuator $400 Fuel Flap/door motor $N/A (fixed myself from spares) Battery $100 Passenger Power window motor $400 Clutch and Fly wheel (no, not part of the gear-box!) $1500 Brembo brake pads/rotors renewed $400 mmmmmm.......good farking thing I didn't have to pay for it! Extended warranty really is a good thing. Battery came out of my own pocket....fair enough. -

Guys...unless you really feel the need, or they are literally looking horrible, then leave the things on.....they leave such a mess and the reality of losing your (partial) paint is very real......coz, I made the mistake!!..lol!. I reckon the guys with the white cars will prolly have nothing to lose!...they do look shittier on that colour.

No diff in colour guys.....but the 'spectra' is never going to be absolutely the same (even on new cars!!), when comparing plastic to metal, as suggested above. I'm pretty farkin fussy, and I'm still impressed by the finish and final colour! The metal paint is perfect, with no UV wear or tonal changes. -

Hi Dan and 007...thanks for your interest!!... I'm still wrapped with the job..like I said earlier, these bumpers take up alot of 'real-estate', so a good looking set of BB's is pretty much a must in my book....(oh that, and nice full tint!) UltraFine Bodyworks in Moorabbin, Melbourne..(Nick)...he's always done my imports, never an issue.....$600 + $60GSTurds....being for both bar-units removed from the vehicle and refinished ..(full removal is a must with these cars, else paint lines and other mismatches will be yours to rue....!!) Thanks again for allowing my input......Got your Rudd cheque yet boys?....already spent it maybe.....? I'll get me one of them Kevin37 LCD TV's......now that's High definition stimulus! -
R33 Gts T Dies A Bit In Boost Why?
superspit replied to swc087's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Checked all vac/press hoses, check lo/hi boost solenoid and hoses.??? Tighten all (air) hose clamps..(don't strip them though!) When you say 'gargle', do you mean 'miss'? What gaps are your plugs running at? Try Listerment..it hurts, but it's good. -
Remote Central Locking Help!
superspit replied to BenzLe's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Point 1 is a no-brainer......def rem batt. Point 2 is excellent, and from my experience, should be wholly considered!...(if any sort of power draw with keys out is present....cheap decks/aftermarket/bad wiring are potentially to blame)....a multimeter/current/amp meter placed in series to batt output is the simplest way to find out.!!...oh, and I found out!! -

you didn't use the wheel off method?? Or do we not have a choice when doing the filter media? -

Going To Do A Oil Change On Tuesday
superspit replied to 180 wanabe's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
mmmm......how confusing it all can be..... I'll stick with Helix Ultra, but that's just based on me never having a problem with an engine in the 8-9 years of using it. But, have you guys ever used one of those MAGNETIC SUMP PLUGS?....I had them on my Silvia's and 33's over the years.....going to find one for the V35. Admittedly, I never saw anything metallic 'hanging' off the sump plug on my oil changes, not in the macroscopic sense anyway...(and that's a good thing I reckon!) Like I said, I've never had an engine issue (yep, heaps of other issues..lol)...my motor's have always appeared healthy and smoke free, and I drive them pretty hard. I guess when you're on a good thing, stick to it?...(I'm a little worried when it comes to lubrication experimentation!)
