  1. Sorry if this has already been said but I wanted to make sure few things because I don't have time to go through all the 48 pages of this thread... I need to weld the head oil drain to the sump... so do I weld it above the oil level? And I also have the restrictors... I tried to hit the stock ones down but they seem to be there very hard. Does it require quite a bit of force?... and do I need to do something to the new restrictors once they are in so the oil doesn't push them "out" or move them?
  2. Well maybe I was a bit wrong what I said but I'll say that I have looked lot's of dyno graphs and some holset models spool up quite similar with garrett equivalent but seem to be able to produce more power than garrett equivalent. And Holset really don't work as well as they could with under 1.5bar of boost. But I'm quite sure that Holset wins the "bang-for your-buck" category in reliability and price Where I live most people use Holset because they are cheaper and seem to be able to match garrett equivalents quite well.
  3. This is a holset hx40/35 hybrid made from parts from the super series and Fullrace model. I'm from Finland and around here Holset are one of the most popular turbos in here because they outspool and outpower some garrett turbos and they are cheap and reliable. And yes I bought a standard exhaust cam used because I got it for cheap.
  4. Well damn... I'm just about to now put the engine back together so right now it would still be pretty easy to put the intake cam back to the head because the head isn't on the car yet. Well a bit annoying because I bought the cam and camgear for nothing then... haha
  5. Well with the camgears I was kinda hoping to sacrifice some peak power to get more response and get the max power sooner because I wanna drift the car and with the stock cams and motor the turbo probably isn't gonna start making power untill near 4000rpm
  6. A bit late reply but... I have a Holset hx40/35 hybrid coming to the car and I know a guy who did that and the turbo reached max power way earlier with the adjustable camgears. Are you saying VCT is better compared to adjustable camgears that have been set up properly?
  7. I had my RB25DET head checked and I bought another exhaust cam to replace the inlet cam so I can put adjustable camgears to my car. The cams need timing so I was wondering do I just time both cams to "stock" exhaust cam timing? I got some specs from the tomei website and it seems inlet should be 120degrees and exhaust should be 117degrees. So should I just time both exhaust cams to 117degrees? Later I'm gonna go to a dyno to get them adjusted properly but for now I just want to get the car running safely because I'm putting in a bigger turbo and lot of other things.
  8. Has anyone tried painting the sign to any other color than their car? I have the Wine red color skyline that is notorius for being a hard color to match and I have problems getting the right paint color where I live because the original paint has got darker over the years. So I was thinking has anyone tried to paint it some neutral color like grey or something that would look good?
