ok just did my service. I barely couldn't here it. I am assuming its the oil that they used? they went from halvoline to valvoline 10/30. so im guessing the car was pinging. My question now is every couple of thousand kms' i see my oil goes to 3/4 full. Do i need to top this up? i did in the past on what is the recommended grade oil and i used shell. Do you think since i topped it up its causing the pinging on the car?

V35 Skyline - Fuel Economy
INSANITI replied to Sikahalv's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I do about 11litres on a new oil after a few thousand kms it goes up to 12-14ltrs until i get another service lolz -
ever since I bought my car 3yrs ago when it had 35k kms I have always used 98. That sound has always been there. not gotten worse or better. I just didn't bother with it. I figured i'll mention it this time on my next warranty service. I was hoping its not like the transmission or anything like that.

have only used BP98 or shell 98 or Caltex 98 (try to avoid this as somehow my fuel consumption on Caltex aint very good). Its 5speed automatic ? can it ping on an auto? sounds like its pinging but doesn't feel like it is. I have a catback exhaust so I doubt its from there well doesn't feel like its there. I sorta also sound like rattling in a cylinder some loose particles of some sore.

Hi All, I hear this noise much like some rattle in cylinder on acceleration - or like a pinging noise coming from under the car around (say mid) where the CAT and exhaust I think joins. have you heard this on your car? its more on medium acceleration rather than hard acceleration. it doesn't have on gear change only when, you suddenly see a gap and put your foot down to catch up. like I said like a pinging noise but not quite if it makes sense. I have a feeling it could be my CATALYCTIC since ive done around 66k kms. I have a 2005 V35 coupe. its due for service so I will mention it to them but it would be great if someone can give me pointers. sorry don't really know much about what is under the car as I normally rely on the service to find these things. What are you thoughts?

i did ask this question once here. i ended up going with NRMA. i pay around $1700 with $1k excess (on its second year i used to pay $1800). the good thing about NRMA is they are not fussed with mods.... so works with me. just have to fork out this much to drive this beast on the road

Hi All, I have a 2005 Auto Skyline coupe with 19inchers with 245/35 profiles. My suspensions are standard and car is not lowered. I want to have a more staunch look so that my wheels come out a bit. I believe the spacers are the way to go. Questions: 1) Would you recommend? What do you guys think? 2) What thickness do i go for? front and back? 3) What types are there and what are the good ones? (mid range?) 4) likely cost at a Jax or bobjane type garages? basically like i said i am more going for wider look but not going outside legal limits. I also would get good ones for safety and dont want my wheel coming off the motorway as it is my daily drive. hope to hear back. I would take your recommendations seriously. My wheels are due for alignment and may get the guys to install these while its there. Thanks JT

I think i hear this problem on my car too.... more of a grind than a rattle though. only hear it when car doesn't get used for a few days..... so do you think its the oil? i use 5w-30. don't mind it much as it has warranty. only problem is the yard that provides warranty wont look at your car until you take it back to them 1million times. hehe

why did you sell your V35?
