  1. unless you live at Thredbo in the winter and the Pilbara desert in summer do we really get climates in Australia that justify the use of a special oil for everday use? if we lived in -25deg C Canada I could understand.
  2. bugger to insure i bet
  3. OK give me a call on the number above.
  4. Nik today in Qbeyan.
  5. These seats are in excellent condition except for very minor wear on the drivers side outside lower bolster (common), when I got the car 2 years ago they looked new and don't look much different now. I am getting my seats retrimmed to a different colour and it would be a shame to destroy the existing ones if someone wants originals so I'm offering to swap for worn seats (fabric wear and tear only, no other damage) and $. They are grey with the optional light blue insert (not the more common grey/grey). Also have perfect headlining and visors (blue) and door trims with blue insert if that is of interest, same terms as above. Since I have to nominate a price in accordance with rules, let's say $500 for the seats (prob not worthwhile doing it for less). If you're interested please email me [email protected] and we can negotiate/send pics etc or call me on 0402 837 117. I'm in Canberra, pref local or Sydney buyer. Regards
  6. Sounds like he's disabled the BOV creating reversion in the turbo, the fluttering is the negative wave coming back through the blades as for OK for a roller bearing, I doubt it.
  7. that's the second time i've heard this, apparently there is a NZ company that repairs them. looking into it now.
  8. I'm keen on the Brembo rears if you would like to separate at some stage. Cheers
  9. Thanks guys, this is good news...and bad. SK re FAIL I mean car running fine then occassionally jerk/stall/run OK/jerk stall etc. Fault codes show AFM. Examination reveals it has had some physical grief (but was previously running fine as stated). Tried cleaning with contact cleaner down the bore onto the element but to no avail (running stock airbox anyway). Replace with another one in A1 condition and all OK. 6 months later same thing, fault code shows AFM. I agree there's not a lot to go wrong - that's why it peeves me. It might be the connections I guess, do you know where I can source some aftermarket plugs to splice into the loom? Thanks
  10. Guys; Just wondering what your experiences are re AFMs failing. 6 months ago one of my original (I assume) 92 ones failed and I replaced both with some 94 ones (from a mate but it still cost me $200). Just had another one fail. There's another $350 thanks. That's ridiculous and I'm really unimpressed, my RS Liberty has 285k on the clock and no problems from the AFM, I don't know of another car type ie Skyline that seems to have so many problems with what shoud be a robust item - the forums seem littered with examples but no mention of what trhe life expectancy has been. Regards
  11. Thanks guys 300zx is looking good acording to GCG and BD4s. Garrett has asked me to do some measurements. interestingly the bolt pattern corresponds to 300zx exh housing and part numbers are 065L and 064R which leads me to think it's a v config engine. Gav it's possible but they could only be off GTR/2JZ/Z32/1JZ/EJ20TT and they all came out in the late 80s/90 and newer. I didn't think the bolt pattern changed for any of these from new ie I think the original bolt patterns remained and these were the ones used by HKS. Regards
  12. 300ZX maybe?
  13. Hi Nik how did the ATTESSA behave?
  14. Hi Greg; I have R32 GTR fronts with discs and pads. Give me a call on 0402 837 117 if you're interested. Mark
  15. Hi Baz; Good question, you could work that out in rough terms by using the figures for back pressure imposed by the second muffler vs increase in flow through the larger diam pipe, they should be available somewhere. Intuitively I reckon you'd need to go up to a 100mm pipe to overcome the pressure created by the second muffler but there would have to be a break even point somewhere. It also depends on the quality of the exhaust design, as opposed to just the diam. Then again some of the better quality mufflers are expensive becuase they can do both very well ie cancel noise and produce horsepower; it's always going to be a tradeoff and I don't think the 'perfect solution' exists. Cheers
  16. You could try Donnellans The Tyremen in Melbourne, they import Volks. Otherwise contact Charles from JDMImports on the forums - he does the Jap auction thing and found a centre cap for someone else - either under the 'Japanese Wheel Packages' thread or in the FS section. Seems very helpful. Good luck!
  17. Try Advan Performance in Silverwater, Sydney. They sell Link and can tune.
  18. I need rears only, PM sent.
  19. Hey guys; I've heard from a couple of people who've had these (stainless 2x3 branch tubular headers) that they have experienced increased lag but slightly improved top end compared to the stock ones. Technically if they are greater volume they might have that effect due to lower gas velocity but if they are tuned right for a given application they should not. Any views based on others' exerience? Cheers
  20. I think r = the way you have measured it ie half the diameter. that would make sense. As for gear reduction, as far as I know it's not just final drive ie 4.11 as you have to take the effect of the gearbox ratio into account. What I'm not sure of is the way you combine these - presumably by dividing or multiplying - although a google search might help. Or just ring a uni engineering faculty and ask, that sometimes works. I think the second formula looks like it might be OK, they're torquey little suckers. Good luck Regards
  21. maybe we could have a group buy for nimso gloves and send a job lot up to QLD. hopefully then they could catch.
