  2. Hi Stirlo; sorry for the delay in responding, you have PM.
  3. Nik; have you spotted your car on a dyno yet? we're all waiting patiently... Spotted this morning: Yellow dewinged white wheeled R34 GTSt in front of Duntroon. Waved but no response. Big waves from Sinista the Winged Warrior on Constitution Ave heading towards the ATO end. Richard, will you please adjust the angle on that thing?! The jet wash caused so much turbulence I nearly had a flame-out in turbo 1, then turbo 2. Could've gone into a flat spin out to Civic pool! Ah well I guess that the inquiry would've cleared me...and then I get to fool around with Kelly... Sounded v nice growling past too. One of the local Snap On guys who's building an R30/31 with an RB26. Told him about the site, how he shouldn't waste his time coming on here, it was boring, the people aren't fun...and he said he can't wait to meet a few of us at the next Trivia night. Seemed like a very nice bloke indeed and when I said 'they don't really care what sort of Skyline you drive and love to take the piss out of eachother he said 'Excellent'. I doubt he'll last...heh heh Cheers guys and gals, have a great Xmas and NY, stay safe and don't give the revenue raisers a dime over the next few days!
  4. Hi Stirlo I didn't know Nismo made dumps. I knew they made engine pipes but there you go...are they single or split wastegate? If you don't mind me asking what type of turbos did you fit?
  5. shower after changing the battery? what did you do???????
  6. shower after changing the battery? what did you do??????? or was it the thought of driving the Skyline again that overhwlemed you with the need to spend time in a warm steamy enironment... don't post in the DIY section...heh heh
  7. I always thought if the battery in the problem car is dead as a maggot ie beyond hope it won't even jumpstart?
  8. Sounds like Fred Flintstone's car. Anyway I disagree, I tried using my head on the accelerator once and there were problems seeing over the dash. Took me ages to get the ding out of the front bar where it nudged the wall when I was reversing...
  9. Thanks Supa, the offer is appreciated. I should be OK with it just wanted to get an idea if I need a day or a week, sounds strightforward if 1.5 is all it should take. Cheers
  10. get NRMA to start it and drive to the battery factory. they can usually tell if it's the battery or the charging that's the problem. in fact the NRMA guy might be able to tell you also if he's one of the better ones.
  11. I just hope like hell that this doesn't happen again soon. Insurance companies are so risk averse it's not funny (that's why they are so rich) and they never forget. The last thing we need is for Skylines to get the same rep the WRX got when it first appeared. Chick at NRMA told me the first 10 they insured in '95 got stolen and the whole industry still isn't over it. Premiums go up, they don't go down. Thing is there's always going to be more people killed in hot rod Commodores etc but the media has this new 'playterm' called Skyline. If someone is to blame for an increase or restriction it'll be the media sensationlising it to the point that the pollies think they have to do something and the insurance dudes never letting go of the belief Skyline = bad. Get ready for another 70 or so people to get taken out over the Xmas / New Year period but don't expect our buds in the media to put pressure on the govt to use more taxes to improve roads which are ridiculously unsafe. Sorry for the rant people just hate getting squeezed by the fun police / nanny society gestapo for no reason when nothing usually changes anyway...viva the revolution! (steps off soap box)
  12. Hi Chris; I'm interested too since I've gone and bought some R34 N1s and your car sounds identical to mine. Prior to purchasing I found quite a bit of info on the forum, there is a very long thread in Forced Induction Performance with lengthy discussion on just about every type of turbo ever fitted to a GTR. A search with 'Sydneykid' and '2530' should get results. Mine are R34's so I'm not sure the results suggested for mine apply strictly if you are looking at R32/R33 N1 units. About $2500- 3000 should net you something good. I don't think there are disadvantages apart from purchase cost; more boost, better durability etc but then there's tuning and so forth that all adds money. The 2530s also seem to be well favoured as a good street package. Regards
  13. by cleaners I assume you mean solvents? Carby Cleaner seems to do a good job, it's made by CRC and should be available at any Autobarn, Supercheap etc
  14. OK make that 'nothing silly since 1.23 today' Anyway my dear fellow, I have no idea what you are referring to. I count one post only and I do not believe that there are witnesses to the contrary.
  15. Jayce; Incredible. I have never done anything like that. Not since probably last week some time anyway... Maybe this problem is not isolated and in future we'll see a sticky on the Forced Induction Perf thread: HELP PLEASE My R32 GTR V spec won't move in any direction unless I'm on a hill...possible clutch/gbox issue? Has been an annoying and persistent problem for some time now. A mate went to Ed at Integra who suggested starting the engine and it went away after he tried that and my mate could control both the speed and direction of his car. At least if your stereo stops working you'll know where to look. Just disappointed you did such a good job of flaming yourself and left nothing for us...

  17. Flock....is that anything like a thicket????? More than one person in a pink shirt is called a mardi gras. Next it'll be 'For Sale R33 Nissan Eyeline...' heh heh heh
  18. Anyone got experience with Advan Performance?
  19. Bass; knock is not your friend at any rpm but obviously high levels are worse than low levels what mods do you have. seems that timing is 'on the edge' with 98, if your ecu has been tuned did the tuner give you any safety margin for bad fuel etc even the best built engine will knock if the tuning is not right so cams and turbos are not likely to help if there is something fundamentaly wrong might have been just a bad fuel batch have you checked wastegate connections etc (although you said it knocked @ low psi boost) regards
  20. adjustment will only be available if the top mount allows it, many do not and they simply solid mount the shaft to the top mount via a spherical or needle roller bearing. as far as I know the only time you can get adj into your top mount is with struts, you won't find this arrangement on a GTR for example. the idea of pillow balls/rose joints is to reduce compliance and flexing making the suspension more rigid. i've heard mixed reports on how well they work with shocks on a daily driver road car, needle bearings seem to work better than the more traditional sphericals as the sphericals wear quite rapidly on many road cars. the reason for this is that the bearing experience a sideways force when the spring compresses and places load on the bearing. hence after a while the bearings start to knock like mad. greasable sphericals seem better than plain ones but the needle bearing seems better again. hope that makes sense regards
  21. LOL now go back and do it again, properly this time. Midnight; I agree it's worth checking the wiring. I take it you have had the ecu tuned for the 700s ? Regards
  22. Hey scooby...these types of problems need monumental patience to solve Yes they do ....is your car stock or are there fuel/electric/ecu mods? stock except exhaust Another stab in the dark if you've run out of options.....fuel pumps in injected cars have a check valve that maintains pressure in the entire fuel system after shutdown for quite a while. Perhaps yours is bleeding away rapidly with time, or perhaps your fuel pump is worn and the leakage causes the fuel pressure to build slowly on start. Does the pump run for the usual few seconds prior to start? thought about this but a few things lead me to think it may not be related: starts immediately when cold, rock solid idle problem occured suddenly, didn't progress over time have tried priming the pump and it makes no difference Maybe the cold start cycle with its different strategy is enough to disguise any issues in this mode. Agreed Is this a consistant repeatable problem or intermittent? Constant and repeatable thanks for the feedback phantom, I'll keep looking. no doubt one day it'll disappear and I still won't know what it was...I think something is either sluggish, stuck or not connecting well ie mechanical/electrical rather than fuel. there are only so many thing it could be, unfortunately it only appears for a few seconds each day and hence it's very hard to catch...hence your first point. Regards
  23. Hi Nik; thought about that too but it's pretty far gone, I think the vinyl has shrunk to the point that it just won't stretch back into place. Cheers
  24. Hi there GM, by the grin on your dial (directed over your shoulder) I thought you must've spotted someone at the same time.
  25. Hi Guys n' Gals; The dash cover on my 32 GTR has bubbled in the usual place ie the concave right anlged-ish section just above the glovebox. I doubt it can be repaired, does anyone know; if there's a good dash repairer in Canberra? how big a job it is to take the dash out of a 32 GTR ie good / bad/ bastard and how long it takes? Searched on the site but found nothing, not looking for a DIY guide unless you happen to have one laying 'round that you prepared earlier, which would be great. The R33 seems firmly in the bastard category from what i gather on the forums and from Adam at BDL but I'm not sure re the 32. I've got the Nissan manual but sometimes the diags etc are so crappy it's hopless. Regards
